  1. This is from the RTE - The Irish Website The whole article http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2011/0206/newcastle_bartonj.html but this is the best bit Arsenal were perhaps unfortunate to concede a second penalty when Mike Williamson was eased off the ball by a combination of Koscielny and Tomas Rosicky, but Barton was unmoved as he made it 4-3. Game on. At that point, Newcastle would have settled for a scrambled equaliser or a fortunate deflection; instead, they claimed their point in fitting style. Midfielder Cheik Tiote, back in the team after serving a three-match ban, latched on to a clearing header three minutes from time to thump a dipping left-foot volley into the bottom corner. In that instant. as the Ivory Coast international sprinted away in celebration with his team-mates in hot pursuit, it was not about Carroll or Ashley or multi-million pound wage packets or fast cars, it was about something far more fundamental. It was about the elemental joy of the game with which Tiote fell in love bare-footed on a patch of African soil as a child, the sheer thrill of the essence of competitive sport. Barton said: 'It speaks volumes for the spirit and the character in there that we went out and we able to do what we did out there. I am honoured and privileged to have been part of it.'
  2. No he won't,he has a casino debt to Llambias to pay off doesn't he? Sold his soul to the casino.
  3. Enrique looks like he's totally pissed off and has done since Christmas, I think he'll look to get away in the summer. Ever since Twittergate tbh
  4. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1050623/Keegan-Milner-U-turn-Newcastle-boss-declares-It-decision-sell.html I think we all just have to realise that we are a selling club, always have been, always will be. As long as we all keep trudging along to St James Park every week (and we all know we will), as long as we JUST stay up, as long as the team show a bit of fight every now and again, we don't have to show ambition or a need to win things. It was like this 40 years ago and it's like this now. Beardsley, Waddle, Gascoigne, Kennedy, Carroll, and lots more I can't be arsed to think of or list. Just think of the club we COULD have been if we had kept all those players and built teams around them. We'd be like Man U or Arsenal. The common denominator in all this is the owners, not the players, or the fans - the owners - from Lord Westwood to McKeag to Shepherd to Hall to Ashley. Millionaires and power hungry egoists who feed off fans' hopes. They've always known they don't have to BE ambitious, just fool us into thinking they are.
  5. So this is the poodle who said Andy's not being sold about 5 times in one sentence about one week ago? And we should believe him? Ok then.
  6. Yep, I was just saying that to my cousin. If he plays within the next week then we have been lied to big style by everyone at the club including Carroll.
  7. Was it last transfer window they made a last minute pretend bid for Michael Johnson? Or was it Michael Jackson?
  8. So you really think Hughton was sacked because he would have been able to stop that Carroll deal going throgh? Bollox tbh. No way could he have stopped it, but he might have put up an argument or two. And Pardew? "no Mike, don't wanna sell him, ever, oh well go on then, twist me arm."
  9. So the Pardew line of last week "The strikers have done well without Andy" is all beginning to make sense now.
  10. Why do you think Hughton was sacked and Pardew brought in? Apart from Pardew being Ashley's casino buddy that is?
  11. Let's face it we've been a selling club since the 70s (at least). That's why we've won nowt and they have won loads. Kennedy Beardsley Waddle Gascoigne etc etc etc And I wonder how long he'll be out injured now? Anyone expect to see him back playing sooner than expected?

    Alan Pardew

I don't know if this has been posted but here you go anyway. Liked the Casino Crony bit http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Alan-Pardew-will-have-to-see-off-a-dressing-room-revolt-when-he-takes-his-first-training-session-as-Newcastle-manager-on-Friday-article648299.htmlNewcastle stars in revolt Published 23:01 09/12/10 By Simon Bird - Exclusive Alan Pardew will have to see off a dressing room revolt when he takes his first training session as Newcastle manager. Pardew has begged Newcastle's furious players not to "resent" him after the stars held a fiery showdown with MD Derek Llambias on Thursday morning. In a nothing-off-limits, clear-the-air meeting, Llambias faced the wrath of senior stars who quizzed him on why Chris Hughton was fired and expressed bewilderment that he was replaced by a manager of Pardew's standing. That confrontation turned into an open shouting match, which saw Llambias accused of appointing a 'casino crony' who will simply be a 'yes man'. The row triggered a major damage limitation exercise by Pardew, who immediately held talks with skipper Kevin Nolan, and said: "It is obvious the players and the fans had a great amount of respect for Chris Hughton, and the fact he has gone has caused a stir. "People are upset about it and the problem I've got initially is with the players and making sure I get my message across with clarity and quickly. "I hope they don't carry any resentment towards me. I've contacted Kevin Nolan, and I will be speaking to all the players tomorrow [Friday]. It's been quite difficult. "I can't think of a player in the group that I've managed before, so I'm going to be something of a mystery to them. I have to make sure the players understand I'm a fair manager. "It's a tough challenge. I need to make sure there isn't a massive impact on the team. Obviously this week there has been an impact on them, and that is not good for any group of players. It's important I bring some stability back to the dressing room and calm their fears." Pardew will hold a team meeting and training session on Friday morning and is also braced for fan protests against the turmoil caused this week before Saturday's home clash with Liverpool. He added: "It is not something I want and I certainly hope it doesn't last too long. But if there is a protest for Chris in terms of a nice protest and fans wanting to show him their support then I don't have a problem with that. That is their right. "But I hope that anything like that is over with quickly and they start supporting their team. I hope the protest is channeled into supporting the team. It is not about me after all, it is about the club. And we are going to need a lot of help to get past Liverpool who have just hit a bit for form." Pardew signed a five-and-a-half year deal worth £450,000 a year, making him one of the lowest paid bosses in the top flight. However, there are big bonuses on offer for hitting targets including staying up and a wins target that, if passed, could earn him £1.5m. MirrorSport can reveal that sacked boss Hughton picked up a pay-off of just £125,000 from Newcastle - half his annual salary and the equivalent of around two weeks' wages for the top earning players.
  13. CaulkinTheTimes George Caulkin Somebody is making a lot of money presumably, but forget all this Klinnsman talk. It's a big nein-nein. #NUFC
  14. He would never work with someone like Ashley or Llambias, never. He's not "one of the lads" enough for A & L (neither's CH either) Far far far too expensive.
  15. Pedantic post Dave, but why do you spell "crack" "craic" ? Crack has been a Geordie expression for as long as anyone knows and long, long before the Irish hijacked it and it became trendy to spell it "craic". Trendy? I'm pretty sure its spelt craic because that is how you spell crack in Gaeilge Irish stole it from English and changed it to craic. I use craic though because it's ubercool. That's like saying the Germans stole schadenfreude or the French stole renaissance.
  16. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/simon-mullock/Why-Newcastle-s-Joey-Barton-getting-banned-while-Tottenham-s-Tom-Huddlestone-gets-off-scot-free-highlights-the-hypocrisy-of-the-FA-s-disciplinary-system-Simon-Mullock-column-article626845.html It isn’t fashionable to rate Joey Barton as a footballer, but this season the Newcastle midfielder has been good enough for England. Of course, Barton will never get the chance to add to the one cap he won for his country almost four years ago because he’s got a rap sheet as big as Mike Ashley’s bank balance and has done jail time. He also upset one or two of the big egos that still remain in the England dressing room the last time he was on international duty. Now I’m not one of those bleeding hearts prepared to justify Barton’s behaviour by blaming a broken home or an underprivileged upbringing. He was given enough “second chances” before finally landing a six-month stretch for battering someone in a McDonalds. Classy that. And any suggestion that, at the age of 28, Barton has matured into a reformed character was shattered by his sneaky punch on Gamst Morten Pedersen. But let’s not blow Barton’s latest crime against football out of proportion. He didn’t hurt Pedersen. There was never any chance he would hurt Pedersen. I can only assume the Backburn midfielder went down like a bag of cement out of utter shock. And what Barton did certainly wasn’t anywhere near as dangerous as the stamp that Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone got away with this week. The two incidents highlight perfectly the hypocrisy of the FA’s disciplinary system. Barton was caught bang to rights when he thumped Pedersen in the chest. And so was Huddlestone when he raked his studs into the groin of Johan Elmander. But one of them is viewed as a mindless thug with a penchant for violence, while the other is regarded as a gentle giant who just doesn’t do that kind of thing. The red mist came down on Huddlestone last Saturday just like it did with Barton on Wednesday night. Anyone who thinks that incidents like these are judged in isolation should remember Alan Shearer’s stamp on Neil Lennon a few years ago and Steven Gerrard’s elbow on Michael Brown last season. When Barton is sat with his feet up this weekend and sees Huddlestone playing against Blackburn, I wonder if once again he’ll be feeling that the whole world is against him.
  17. Jabbed in the lung? Give over man it was an over reaction to highlight the issue plain and simple. Agreed, he went down like a 2 ton truck had hit him - not Joey Barton. Red Mist overcame Barton, he'll be banned for at least 3 games, he's Joey Barton.
  18. That Sun article was written by [email protected] - I've just emailed him requesting "more stories like this as it obvioulsy spurs the boys on to great performances -thanks in advance!" Wonder if he'll reply?
  19. I wonder if Nolan is getting a complex? First he's off to Everton, then the News of the World garbage, the day after that the Sun drags up a story that was published months ago. News International tricks, but why?
  20. I was listening to Neil Warnock on Talksport and he said the rumour had definitely come out of the Newcastle Boardroom because he had heard weeks ago of someone "in the Boardroom" who didn't like Hughton and that's how it started. He (Warnock) was praising Hughton to the skies though.
  21. He paid thousands for it as well. Wonder where he got the money for it then?
  22. Shows that refs need to be stronger or more aware. If felipao was right, it looks like Gomes DID think he was playing to the whistle. Was it my imagination, or was the linesman doing that hand covering mouth thing, even though Ferdinand was right next to them and so could presumably hear everything he said? The hand to mouth thing is for the TV cameras I think. Ferdinand should have been booked for being there as well. As if that would ever happen.........
  23. It's the wonderful man U, so it will all be Gomez's fault.
  24. I thought it was a Spurs free kick? What is the point indeed.
