  1. Hulk and Traore would be awesome - fearsome as hell. We would need one more not as good striker however, to be a 3rd choice with Shola as 4th. I think Lovenkrands and Best will go. Ranger on loan to a Championship promotion challenger. I would want one £15m plus striker, one £6-10m one and another around 2-3m, with potential/contract issues... (Wonder how much that young prolific Tranmere striker would cost - Jennings I think?) And PLEASE can the left back issue be sorted once and for all? Not too fussed if Campbell stays one more season or if he goes - as I think Kadar can step up personally. Campbell is still good for leadership / experience and would like to see him coach at the club. Watching ESPN classic - Eng vs Arg 1998 at the mo - he was a monster CB in his hey day, one of Englands best. Lets finally get rid of Smith, Xisco. Forster as backup to Harper next season, playing in the cups. Andre Ayew/Barnetta for right wing too would also be good.
  2. Liverpool will become a long ball team. Both NE clubs were doing well - who would have thought they would BOTH lose their star strikers this window?! That'll teach me to gloat at Bent's move!
  3. Gutted. But high high risk for Liverpool - like someone said there are similarities to the Anelka to Real Madrid deal. Liverpool havent got any decent wingers (Kuyt, lol) so hardly will play to his strengths - whereas we have changed our whole system to play around him. I do think 35m really could have gotten them so much better, but smacks of severe desperation. 2 new strikers doesnt cover the fact their defence bar Agger is crap, and midfield bar Gerrard and Meireles is crap. If they were to offer pick of any players in exchange except Gerrard, there really wouldn't be anyone I would want to take. RE Carroll I'm very disappointed in him, personally. I was impressed the club knocked back two HUGE fees (more than he's worth to be fair) but if he said he didnt want to go - he wouldnt be going simple as that. Liverpool is not exactly the quietest city in the world, lots of potential for trouble arising for him - would Liverpool back him in the same way as us? Potentially 40M in the coffers though - not bad. Should we stay up, it could be an exciting summer - I refuse to believe they won't spend a vast chunk of the cash on the first team.
  4. Viana - we wrecked him would have had a good career elsewhere
  5. I can see the following formation being quite a handful for the opposition: Tiote Barton Ireland Nolan Ben Arfa Carroll With Jonas coming in place of Nolan / Ireland (Ben Arfa to come in to the centre) Bit of everything there. The destructive ball winning ability of Tiote Barton's passing ability from deep, slide rule passing Pace / trickery of Ben Arfa Carrolls power, strength and hold up play Nolan ghosting in from deep to pick up pieces, score Ireland's guile, passing and goal scoring ability - will cause havoc with Ben Arfa on other side, will free up space Jonas to slot in with work rate, direct running, excellent impact substitute also to run at tired legs All in all, a very dangerous front 6, potentially, if all play to their strengths. Can cause most teams problems. So definitely exciting potential there indeed.

    Alan Pardew

Shouldn't that be no holds PARD...? ok I'll get my coat
  7. Bent ahead of van Persie. Where's Berbatov for that matter?!
  8. http://www.footylatest.com/newcastle-ready-to-make-a-move-for-argentinian-whiz-kid/19354? Would be excellent if it happens - I do like the random, out of the blue links (to the decent players, obviously!) I must say.
  9. So who would everyone rather have - Ireland or Barnetta?

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I honestly believe he'll raise the crowd and the team as a whole to go on a run like the end of Roeder's first season when we finished 7th - I know big expectations from just one player but he is really that good. Give everyone a boost at the business end of the season, a shot of adrenaline and excitement when the team will need it most. I think we'll finish 8th or 9th. Would be great if any higher but happy with that first season back...
  11. Xisco = Goldust (from like, 10 years ago...) Alan Pardew = Ric Flair... wooooooooooooooo
  12. Boumsong vs Yeading? Didn't he look dodgy even then?!
  13. Everyone would want silly money for moving to Chelsea, especially knowing he would never be first choice! Why else would he have moved down there, particularly from Man City! Now that the novelty of a few extra thou per week could have worn off, if he fancies some first team football - here is as good a place as any for him. Maybe the chance to get in the England squad alongside the new number 9 could be the challenge he needs - we are certainly high profile enough for him to stay in the news if he scores regularly etc?
  14. Daniel Sturridge is apparently unhappy at Chelsea - would be guaranteed first team football here - him and Carroll could be the new Shearer and Bellamy... Was linked with a move a few days ago if I remember rightly. I know he has an attitude but so did Bellamy. Sheer pace and Sheer power - would potentially be a lethal strikeforce.
  15. Bloody sods law. Ben Arfa would have been playing in his promised / favoured central position with Nolan out of this game. Typical Newcastle luck.

    Hugo Viana

I rate both highly to be honest. Viana REALLY hasn't lived up to his potential - I really thought he would flourish under SBR - thought he was a great passer with great vision - who would thrive with a very defensive midfielder next to him. NUFC have this knack of making players shite - how comes supposed stars can come to Newcastle, struggle then be given away for next to nothing, only to become successful elsewhere?! (Tomasson etc) Some lose their confidence and form so much at Newcastle, that they struggle to get it back - Robert is one, Viana another, Kluivert another - same with Boumsong. All of those were highly-rated before they arrived. Luque is the same - but hopefuilly SA hasn't written him off just yet. I'm hoping Dyer doesn't go that route either - I think he is FINALLY clear of his injuries, and with SA's methods - he is less likely to suffer in future - would be typical Newcastle if he was to leave for a paltry 5m, then have an amazing season with Spurs or someone. I think Newcastle aren't patient enough with the right players - especially foreigners - yet they can persist with home grown Ameobi and 'next great England defender' Bramble. Yet some imports, who ooze class, such as Kluivert, Luque, Viana only get one chance then they're out. Even Martins last year was touch and go for a while - people were getting on his back from the off - luckily he found his feet soon after - if he took a month or so more - would've been the end of the world for some. Its good he showed his obvious class - I think Emre is pure class too - needs to be given chance to show it. Same with Duff - all these players haven't achieved as mcuh as they have by being crap or lucky or journeymen - form is temporary, class is permanent.
  17. Luque for sure - he is like a new PL player - like a new signing if he gets a proper chance to impress that is - if he gets his Depo form back - one hell of a player. Newcastle have got some fab individual players if you think about it - no balance or a team which lets them down. Owen, Luque, Martins, Viduka, Milner, Solano, Emre, Geremi, Duff, N'Zogbia, Dyer, Given, Barton, Taylor- there really is some talent in there - top 6 talent, easy.
  18. That wouldnt be hard , my left testical is better then carr; my right could be questionable but still. That's actually what he was referring to - when he said if you know where to look...seems he certainly does. So, where else you been scouting testicles? Found one which could replace Ameobi?
  19. I thought when we bought Andy Cole should have been there - bought him cheap and unheard of, ended up being a british transfer record fee to Man U.
  20. Well, that's not true for a start - it was 4-4 we only lost on away goals. We can hardly be compared to West Ham in terms of Europe - what about all the semis, quarterfinal appearances in the UEFA, not to mention the 2nd stage of Champs League - more than any other non- top 4 club have done recently - much more so than the media's beloved Spurs even. Although article raises some points - a lot of it is rubbish.
  21. 1: Given 2: Yobo 3: Richards 4: Woodgate 5: Taylor 6: Ballack 7: Gerrard © 8: Cahill 9: Shevchen- ko 10: Martins 11: Berbatov 12: Niemi Goalkeep- er 13: King Defender 14: Barnes Midfield- er 15: Taarabt Midfield- er
  22. Man U's is far and away the most frightening, in terms of genuine world class players, and potential. Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez(?) and Nani/Anderson - Phew. I don't count Saha and Smith in that, as they will be out soon. Newcastle's is very impressive to be honest, a bit of everything - Owen, finisher / Viduka - big strong target man / Martins - Pace, power, something out of nothing / Ameobi - unpredictablilty, geordie passion. With Gudjohnsen's guile and creativity - that will be a most impressive forward line. I thought Shearer, Bellamy, Kluivert, Ameobi was strong - that would be next level. Spurs - not bad - Berbatov is the only world class out of that bunch. Martins is better than the rest of Spurs' strikers - is explosive, young enough to improve too. Shevchenko will be back on top form this season - still world class. I don't rate Liverpool's that highly for some reason - Torres is good - Kuyt, hard worker, Voronin - -unknown quantity, Crouch 'good touch for a big man' - prefer our selection of strikers to theirs.
  23. Given Beye / Solano - Taylor - Rozenhal - Bridge Edmilson / Geremi Dyer Barton Emre Owen Martins Subs Harper / Krul, Milner, N'Zogbia, Viduka, Babayaro, Ameobi,
