  1. "He's got me and Nigel Pearson here to coach him and we were two ugly bastard centre-halves, so that helps."
  2. Just put a tenner bet on with my mate than Toon will finish above Spurs
  3. Concurred. Shame he missed his header after a delightful cross from Steve "The Whippet" Carr
  4. Disagree. It was a hard fought draw. Congratulations Glenn.
  5. Would love SWP at SJP.
  6. Bookies stopped taking bets.
  7. Sam demands a shut out - .co.uk SAM Allardyce admits that his players have been left in no doubt as to his feelings regarding the Magpies away day slump this season. The Toon gaffer was furious with his side's performance following successive defeats on the road at first Derby County and then Man City last month. But, with United now buoyed by two victories on the bounce at St.James' Park, Big Sam says that the Geordies' away form must improve - starting with Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. "We have to turn things around away from home and that has to start against Reading," said the Newcastle boss. "I did not think we would slip into this after what we saw at Bolton and Middlesbrough. "We have deteriorated rapidly, the players know how unhappy I am and I hope they have taken heed of the warning." And, if the black and whites are to take anything from their trip to Berkshire, Allardyce feels that shutting out the opposition attack has to be item number one on the agenda. "I want to come away without conceding," he added. "To be honest, I'd be satisfied with a 0-0 because we can show the players how they got the clean sheet. "Unless we make ourselves difficult to score against then we are going to slip up. "We have to get between 10 and 15 clean sheets this season. We have got two in nine so far and that's not good enough. "That's what I'm hammering home to the lads, when we are not in possession we all have to make it difficult for the opposition and not keep gifting them goals like we have done. "Away from home the lads in front of the defence have to take more responsibility and that starts Saturday."
  8. What an awful, awful attempt at a wind up.
  9. Wembley may host European final Wembley Stadium has been shortlisted to host the Champions League final in 2010 or 2011. The rebuilt venue will be visited by a delegation from European football's governing body Uefa this year. Berlin's Olympiastadion, the Allianz Arena in Munich and, in Spain, Madrid's Bernabeu and the Mestalla in Valencia are the other stadiums in contention. Meanwhile, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and Dublin's rebuilt Lansdowne Road are in contention for the Uefa Cup final. Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Espanyol's Estadi Montjuic in Barcelona, the Arena Hamburg and the National Stadium in Bucharest are the other stadia being considered for that competition. "Capacity, infrastructure, facilities and functionality" were listed by Uefa as the criteria under consideration for the stadia, as well as legal documentation, accommodation and airport facilities. There also remains a rotation policy between national associations. Football Association chief executive Brian Barwick said: "We're delighted that Uefa have shortlisted Wembley for both the 2010 and 2011 finals. "It is recognition of Wembley's place among the very best football stadiums in the world, as well as its unique tradition and history." The Champions League finals in 2008 and 2009 will be held at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow and the Stadio Olimpico in Rome respectively.
  10. Would be tempted to go same again, no point rushing Barton straight back into the line up, and you shouldn't change a winning team in these circumstances. Maybe Smith replacing Shola on the bench, presuming Viduka isn't fit. I know it's said all the time, but this match is massive for us IMO. We need to improve our away form to build on the home form. No point having back to back home wins if we throw it all again at duckeggs like Reading. Plus, Hanemann is by far the worst keeper in the league IMO.
  11. It certainly looks like these lot are the competition this season. Played 1 Lost 1 Played the hardest out of the 6 games tbh. I'd fancy us to beat all 3 at home.

Some people need something to moan about, so long as its this thats fine by me I'm not moaning, I thought it was genius
  15. Thing is, bar the top four from last season, and maybe Man City and Pompey, they're probably the "best of the rest". 4 wins at SJP out of 5. We should be looking for at least another 10. 43 points from home matches alone would be a monumental effort.
  16. Carr and Babayaro are supposedly fit to play.
  17. HA! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/ottoautopilot/nelson-muntz.gif HA HA !
  18. Personally, I thought Nicky Butt was fucking outstanding today.

To be honest, if someone had offered me Roeder and Shepherd and all their clowns gone, and a quality manager, team and a mickey mouse banner in this time 6 months ago, I might have considered it
