Whats the point of an interent forum if we should all take the approach that the "media are s***" and "we should sit back and see what happens". Seems pretty boring to me. I like how you lambast thoses who speculate on the recent events then go and do the exact same thing yourself..,ie speculate that this is a nothing meeting even though your opinion is nothing more than supposition and has the absolute equal weight of evidence as the ones you criticize/belittle. I'm pretty sure I mentioned that I'm speculating.... I'm mearly stating that some of the comments on this forum have been very much influenced by the medias spin on things and are generally more negative than is required. My speculative remarks are purely based on quotes from Keegan/Ashley/Mort and all the press coverage, as to assertain my opinion. I enjoy these boards, they give me a laugh at times, but they can also affect how we are percieved by the media. Do you not think journalists check out these threads when something untoward kicks off at the club? The slightest sniff of blood and they are all over the net searching for peoples opinions, and are often justified in some of the comments they come out with regarding the 'majority of newcastle fans'. They read some of the shite that is spewed on forums across the globe...ignore positive threads and lap up the negative ones - it helps them sleep at night. I love propaganda me. Well, anyhow, no doubt we will know what the ACTUAL story is come tomorrow or the day after. I wish we had a boring club at times...

F**k me I love how the press tend to infect our supporters into thinking of conspiracy theories/hidden agendas/club politics. And I love the joys of forums to comment on the media hype and surrounding tosh in comments that comes with it. (i'll probably get a few 'if you dont like it you dont have to be on here' comments from saying that too). My two penneth - Keegan should not have said what he said in public as it causes all this sort of bollocks from fans & press alike. But what he said is so true everyone should realise that all he was doing was telling the truth. The rearranged press conference is due to the meeting taking place tomorrow, clubs often move press conferences around for one reason or another, we just dont hear about it because a. they dont get the media coverage we do and b. we couldnt give a shit about another club. The meeting tomorrow has likely been planned for a number of days, and is hardly a crisis meeting, more an allignment of ideas/plans and a discussion about the summer. I'd be very suprised if it ended up anything more. Keegan has asked for an idea of how much he has to spend, and he will no doubt get told tomorrow. Once again, alot of clubs have these meetings, but what I said above applies to those also. Once again we have the case of the press taking something Keegan said (an honest and respected manager in footballing circles) on Monday and spinning it 180 degrees to make it into something it is not. (see headlines by the Sun & Daily Mirror today - non of which state any facts, direct quotes and are all based on 'ifs, buts and maybes') As Public Enemy once said 'Don't believe the hype!' All of this (including what I have written) is speculation, that is the joy (and frustration) of football and journalism. Its called selling papers/tickets. Stop all this bollocks about - 'the way it seems is' - 'by keegans reaction i think this' etc Lets wait and see what happens tomorrow and keep the faith.

If Ashley has no money in the bank how come we bid for Modric? Did someone make it all up? Do you have official links to back that up? (not trying to be an ass here, but I've only read it on the internet) As far as I know, we backed out because Dinamo demanded to much. Well, for me, here's the thing. The last time we did really good was under Sir Bobby Robson, a true geordie lover. Since Keegan in the 90's it only went one way... and that was certainly not up. We got Robson and we did very well... for me.. an important reason for that is that he really cared about newcastle and really cared about the job in hand. His passion was true Geordie love. Keegan is the exact same in my eyes, only younger. I don't want to blow this out of proportion now, as it is just a meeting, and for all we know it might be a very positive meeting... but as a final say: We better spend some money this summer, cause our squad is really thin, and seriously lacking the req. talents in some areas. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1306429,00.html http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1306433,00.html http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1306444,00.html Its on one of those links about the Modric thing.

Personally speaking, I believe both Chris Mort & Keegan to be spot on. We as Newcastle fans sometimes get misrepresented by the media in that we expect far too much. Out of everyone I have spoken to (Newcastle fans) the majority feel we that if we finish within the top 8 we would be happy with the progress. A good cup run is not out of the equation either. Some fans may have been swayed by the constant speculation & media hype, but the majority are realistic. We are not the brain dead morons some people would have you believe and are quite happy with the way our club is heading. Chris Mort's/Kevin Keegans comments come as a nice way of reminding those caught up in the hype that we are still a way off matching the top 4, in terms money, player attraction and European football. The clubs previous regime, management & owners (since Sir Bobby Robson) pretty much ruined our club - if bad choices were not made in transfers/managers we would still be competing with the top 4. If it wasn't for Mike Ashley buying we could have 'done a Leeds'. Our football has been getting progressively worse since SBR left and only now looks like a new dawn is starting. Lets not give in to the hype/speculation/slating that we are presented with on a daily basis, keep our heads down and build the club back to where we should be. Get rid of the players who don’t pull their weight, bring in some new faces, continue selling out SJP & away games and continue giving it your all come match day. That is all we expect. That is all Keegan was trying to say.

No better than what we already have. No thanks.

what do you genuinely expect from next season?
mattypnufc replied to ChrisJbarnes's topic in Football
Top 8 like everyone else. Im not expecting mirracles, but I can see it being a far better season than any we have had since SBR. -
We all love gay interacial porn dont we??!!?? Anyhow... I hope the new away top is yellow/green or blue/white combo...either I think are standard away colours for us...not that we have to wear our away tops much tho

Not my story but my mates, sits in Leazers, really mortal bloke stumbles down about 10 stairs...bang straight into the concrete wall along the concourse. Pop nose is gone. The whole crowd in the Leazes near him start singing 'Nose bleed, if you love the toon' -

Replace Dukes, Taylor, Ron & Butt Keep them all, but we desperately need another left back (cover for Enrique), rightback(cover for Beye), centre half, DM midfielder above everything else IMO. I have high hopes for next season and there are exciting times ahead, but we have to stay realistic and realise that although we have a big following, great potential, plenty of money we are still without european football, and unfortunately the draw of the 'big smoke's city lights' no matter how much we love our area. Keegan will get it right, but its going to be a long rumour filled summer.

I love journalism me!!! Sam Vokes ey? Better than Modric?

West Ham 2 - 2 Newcastle United - 26/4/08 - Post match reaction from page 16

Once again MOTD leave us til last and show 3 minutes worth of the game, and not even edgars injury but show lunjburgs. I know it sounds a sado, but I want to know what happened to our player to make him require stiches. Even Hanson & Lawrenson/Lineker had a laugh about us being on last, and i know essentially it was a nothing game, but FFS arnt we last every single week?
