  1. Fair enough then. Link? How does this happen then? Because if Portsmouth win the FA Cup and finish 5th, the place that was meant to go to 5th will go to 6th and Portsmouth will qualify as the national cup winners. This is from the wikipedia site, which isn't the best of sources, but I've read it somewhere else too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premier_League#Qualification_for_European_competitions I also remember having a debate on another forum about it, because I didn't think the FA Cup runner-up got the spot, but they linked me to an article which said that the FA Cup runner up gets the spot should the FA Cup winner have already qualified for Europe.
  2. but thats incredibly blinkered, he's had to do it with very limited resources, he had to turn an awful team into a decent team, and he has, maybe more. all people are saying is that if kev's given ample resources, we'll do much, much better than we have under souness, roeder or allardyce. is that hard to understand? or do you just disagree? and to answer your first question, i dont actually think the reaction will be TOO bad if we lose, even though i slag the booing cunts to high heaven, because i think people will recognise that we've turned a corner in the last few weeks I just disagree. the fundamental flaw in your point is that you are saying that if you play crap and sneak a lucky 1-0 win, its no different from an assessment of the team point of view as completely dominating a team, hitting the post 10 times, having 2 goals disallowed, going down to 10 men and also winning 1-0. Stretching a point maybe to make the point, but the scenarios are a world apart. Yeah, that's exactly what I said So because I don't cream myself over Kevin Keegan, and think he's going to do any better than a mid-table finish next year, I don't know anything?
  3. If they play a 4-5-1, we'll struggle to beat them.

  5. Unless the BBC are wrong, which I doubt (they were wrong on a point regarding this in the first draft of this article which they then checked and corrected), the rules have obviously changed from previous years. There are no UEFA cup places for cup runners up The BBC are wrong.
  6. Portsmouth finishing 5th is the only way 6th will qualify, but I pretty much ruled that out because Portsmouth aren't going to finish 5th.
  7. The performances have been a lot better, and the players have more confidence, but at the end of the day, what's the reaction going to be if we lose to Reading this weekend? Fact of the matter is, Keegan has only picked up the same amount of points in his first 10 games, as Allardyce did in his last 10. It's all well and good saying 'yeah but the footballs better', but ultimately it's results that count.
  8. There is no way possible 6th in the league will qualify you for the UEFA Cup. The 3 places go to: - 5th in the league - FA Cup winner (or if they've already qualified for Europe, the runner up) - League Cup winner (or if they've already qualified for Europe, 6th in the league, but this year it's Spurs, so they get the spot)
  9. Don't think anyone will. There's only 6 games left, and I think the goals will be shared around and a few might get 9. If any one of them do it will be Owen though.
  10. Hahaha, win two games and we get this reaction? We've won two games guys, TWO games.
  11. I'm sure it's the number of goals we'll get in each half. Haha. Yes, that's clearly what it was meant as
  12. I think we could get Bentley to come here, but it all depends on who's interested. I think we've got mroe to offer him than Blackburn for sure, but if a Liverpool/Arsenal become interested, we've got no chance.
  13. Which means we'll lose Sorry for being pessimistic, but it's not gotten to the stage that when we expect something from the players, they turn in ridiculously poor performances and lose to teams we should never lose to.
  14. Tbh, we're already safe. Can't see Bolton picking up 9 points from their last 6 games, let alone us not picking up any.
  15. Unchanged line-up, no need to change a winning formula. 2-1 win to the Toon.
  16. I don't think getting Berbatov is that much out of the question. But, do we need him? I guess a strikeforce of Owen, Martins and Berbatov would have me jizzing my pants every game. Sign 2 QUALITY central midfielders to play next to Joey Barton, and we'll be challenging for Europe next year.
  17. We've got to beat West Ham, and the only two other games I think we're a chance of winning are Reading and Sunderland. Even if we win them 3, we'd need them to not pick up another point all year. Spurs are a better bet, I think we can realistically catch them. God, this board goes psycho a bit after we win, think we're world beaters now
  18. I'd keep them, just for backup. Nicky Butt has been immense in our last two matches, but regardless, he's still getting on a bit, and is a bit slower than he used to be. But, to have him in the squad as back-up would be very handy. Same goes for Geremi, although I've been more and more impressed with him.
  19. Seems to be where the money is these days.
  20. We're only 4 points behind Spurs after not winning in 13 games. Be funny if we finished above them
  21. Beye is in the top 5 right backs in the league. Enrique is looking better and better. To be honest, the problem with our defence this season hasn't been the personnel, it's been the constant chopping and changing. Hardly a surprise that they've looked at their best in the last 5 games, where it's remained the same.
  22. He can have until next week Although: Allardyce last 10 NUFC league games: 9 points, 9 goals. Keegan first 10 NUFC league games: 9 points, 10 goals Sack him
  23. Did he do some flips? Only the one. I was so fucking pleased for him though.
  24. Let's not get too carried away. As chip said, we had an amazing run to end the season under Roeder, and then look what happened the next season.
  25. The time we came from 1-0 down to beat Spurs 4-1 at WHL. That was pretty good.
