I know what you mean. Fear Pardew would still throw him in there occasionally because he's big and "something different". Would like us to sign a Gomis type so we don't see any more Shola.

Yep not much has changed between the Simpson - Ben Arfa and Debuchy - Ben Arfa Hatem will still more often than not take it on himself and ignore Debuchy. Difference is Debuchy can actually cross and shoot so should be far more useful long term offensively.

Brings so much more to the team than current day Tiote. If Tiote can sort himself out then he might edge out Anita but at the moment it's Anita all day for me given the choice.

Looks to me a bit like a player who used to have more pace and lost it. Just needs to adjust his game accordingly now to the fact he simply isn't quick. The rest of his game is decent.

He wasn't great, but his ability to be more direct rather than play the simple game suited us better when looking for the full points yesterday. It's his ability to pick out passes across the pitch and understand the others movement that helped us. Gouffran was once again very dangerous when he came on, but seems to be lacking confidence to get that goal. Feel like there will be a big deal made out of the next time Gouffran scores from both the players and the fans. feel for the guy and he needs a goal.

Don't think Cabaye was that good when he came on personally. Had one little drive forward and one surprisingly good corner but other than that it was a lot of balls dropped over the top that didn't reach anyone. Gouffran and Remy made the difference for me.

Doesn't someone on here absolutely despise Defoe and not rate him at all?
-
Why can't we agree a deal and personal terms etc and then hold the deal until we get the cabaye money guaranteed if thats the case?
-
Maybe not if they just got knocked out of champions league and are banned from europe for a little while?

One of the only things I give credit to Pardew for is managing Ben Arfa correctly and I think he still is here. Basically he's treating him as he is, a world class talent, so his standards are higher for him than of other players. Used to annoy the hell out of me 2 years ago when Pardew would constantly criticise Ben Arfa for something and then someone like Obertan would get praised. Further down the line now I can see what he's doing. Obertan was at his limits whereas Ben Arfa always had another level he can go to when he's focused. He's right as well because for just over half of that game Hatem was making incorrect decisions, for example shooting from 30 odd yards when he's got people in the box etc. 2nd half was far better as he was shooting at the right times and crossing at the right times.

Fucking moonlighting now. Not getting enough cash from BT?
-
Showed today how much he is holding us back. A decent striker would make a world of difference as Remy proved by simply being able to run and control the ball.

That interview on motd oooouuf

The perfect partner to Colo in games like this where were not under much trouble and he can just mop up with his pace. Away games maybe slightly different, like next game up against Benteke. Still think I'd have him ahead of Taylor everytime though.
-
Assumed he isn't injured then after that interview had no mention of it. Good to hear. Can't wait for when he's ready to start games.

You are deluded. Deluded about what? We looked so much better today, even during a relatively poor quality first half. Enjoy it, man. It could be a good thing.

That cross and papiss' header would have been a nice goal.

I love this place, get one number in the wrong place and that's it
-
Until Remy came on it did still look like baby steps on the offensive front. But they were baby steps in the right direction. If we can move away from relying on just Hatem to create we will be stronger. Papiss was far more dangerous 2nd half with abit of service.

Today was first time in a long while where we started the game in the way he tries to claim we do. Passed it on the deck and were closing down well.

Just wondering if anyone wants to do something similar to what we had before on here with comparing results to the previous season. Could be fun considering we lost so many last season so will be nice if we better the result each week. So far: 13/14 12/13 Man City (away) 4:0 4:0 Same result West Ham (home) 0:0 0:1 Better Result Fulham (home) 1:0 1:0 Same result

I know we were shit against west ham but even in that towards the end of the game we had full backs out wingers bombing forward and taking on defenders etc with the crowd roaring them on. It was the same today but obviously much improved and with more quality players on the pitch. If we can play like that more, especially now we have more pace in the side then St.James' should be a really intimidating place for teams to come to.

Just not an out an out striker even if he wants to be. Think we should use him how we are at the minute. Either start from the left or come on against tired leg in an attacking postion and use his pace. Poor attempt at the header today and we'd be cursing him if it had cost us the three points but he does bring alot to the team with his movement and speed. Well played Gouff.
