Don't really rate Carroll all that much but if we were to start the season in a 4-4-2 with Loven and Carroll up front I wouldn't be overly worried. If we can get some good, creative wing play out of Routledge/Jonas and our main CM can play the ball around nicely we'll get more goals out of them than a lot of people in this thread are imagining.

While I'm not sure of Harper, I do agree that the criticism of Lovenkrands is totally misguided. Like you said, he did score in a team with very little support that never looked like scoring. His movement will be invaluable next season.

As much as I hate Gerrard, Curran is actually pretty fucking decent.

Lovenkrands will be more than adequate. Especially playing along side Carroll like they did to great affect last season.

Good for him. More people from the islands need to go abroad more often, would definitely benefit English football in the long run. He's Welsh. Yeah, but he currently plays in the English football league and might do so again in the future with a bit more class for having gone abroad and learned from different types of coaches.

Glad Johnson didn't go, seems an absolute schmuck the last time few times I saw him play - all of the press really going to his head. This will be a good grounding for him and like many have said before, let him focus on his game so he can be a big part of the "next generation"
