It’s not the ability of the player that’s impressed me about this (I don’t particularly think he’s quite as good as people think) but it’s his profile. This guy has been one of the hottest names in football for the last 2 years and we’ve landed him. Such a statement of intent from us.

I like how all window we’ve been underbidding for players and then all of a sudden pay way over the odds for this guy. Happy with the player but absolutely floored by what we’re willing to pay for him. A real (and welcome) statement that we can play with the big boys when we really want someone.

Pedro and Isak are very similar players so I’d be very pleasantly surprised if we got both. Shame, as I really really like JP.

Sociedad play pretty bland defensive football that doesn’t really suit his style of play. That’s not to say he didn’t massively underperform as well though. Didn’t look at it at all. Previous season he was really good, so hopefully just a blip.

I don’t think any clubs take the piss because it’s us. PL clubs get stiffed all the time from foreign leagues, kind of redresses the wealth inequality slightly so it’s fine by me.

Isak, Pedro and a midfielder (by Jesus if it’s Paqueta) and we have squad capable of challenging for Europa positions. Let’s fucking go (please).

I’m still really excited tbf. With time and the right set-up the guy could be something really special. Not to piss on anyone’s chips, saying he’s overrated doesn’t equate to me saying he’s shit. He’s really good but gets more shine than his play and achievements warrant. Paying probably 15m too much but fuck it, he’s such a big name it’s worth it!

I said the same thing. Think he’s massively overrated but still young and has a lot of amazing qualities that Howe can get the best of.

Their play-style is ridiculously defensive and probably not suited to the way Isak wants to play. That being said, he’s had a poor season and looked particularly off the boil.
