Almiron. So 1 footed.
-
Joelinton’s biggest weakness is striking the ball. How was he playing as a striker before
-
Love how Maxi is passing the ball a lot more.
-
Needed to score that half. Incredibly dominant first half, just lacking some end product. Corners have been largely gash as well.
-
Well. Good energy.
-
Fair enough. Not saying I’d be over the moon with 13th, I just said 13th with all the other caveats I mentioned would be the minimum I’d expect.
-
Top 7 quality: Bruno Botman Wilson cm Joelinton Maxi once a month Pope Trippier Howe Mid-table quality Maxi the rest of the time Burn Schar Willock Target 2022 Krafth Dubravka Meh to not good enough Manquillo Murphy Last-season’s form Almiron Ritchie Fernandez Lascelles Lewis Fraser Wood Dummet Last season’s form S Longstaff Darlow That other keeper *Anderson, very much an unknown at this point but I’ve high hopes for him. I dunno, but for me this doesn’t look like a squad that you’d be disappointed with if they didn’t challenge for Europe.
-
Not sure about that. Half of the names in our 25-man squad would struggle to get another PL move if they left us. First-team looks decent though.
-
Not for me necessarily. Not ever having any relegation worries, keeping steady in mid-table while playing some nice attacking football along the way would feel like slight progression.
-
13th, not getting eliminated by non-PL opposition in the cups, having a discernible play-style controlling more games.
-
That’s assuming the remaining budget is 40m; you could get a young back up from France for that. If it’s 50 or 60, there’s more than enough to get a serviceable to very good striker in? Anyway, obviously I’ve no idea what’s going on. Fun to speculate though while there’s seemingly fuck all transfer news to talk about.
-
Fair enough, but surely you can see that, with a supposed budget in place, 17.5m for a player of his calibre is an absolute steal. Sorting out our RW with Cornet, leaves us more cash to spend on a permanent move for a striker.
-
It’s a ridiculous thing to say. He’s miles better than Murphy, Fraser and Almiron. More goals (in a worse team) than our current best winger too. Madness.
-
Speaks so well. He’s assertive, professional and has a clear playing philosophy. Such a breath of fresh air.
-
I rate all of them (Vinaigre is a bit meh though).
-
He’s an amazing signing, especially for the price.
-
Not sure I agree. He’s a tireless runner with great close control, technique and a mean left-foot. He’s a bargain at the prices being quoted. His downside imo is that perhaps his passing, while good, isn’t at the top-tier level where you think he’ll create a good chance whenever he’s on the ball (I really think we’re lacking that quality in the wide areas currently).
-
With injuries, fixture congestion leading to resting players etc. it’s not inconceivable that we could field a midfield and forward line of: St- Wood Rw- Murphy Lw- Fraser cm- Willock cm- Longstaff cm- Shelvey . On paper our squad doesn’t feel like one that’ll be in contention for European places. With Howe, our first-team and the general feeling around the club these days you never know though. I’d predict 10-12th. Tenuous side note: I feel people are sleeping on Crystal Palace this season. Think they’ll do a lot better than people expect.
-
You wouldn’t imagine so but they’re all saying roughly the same thing so something’s up. Or they’re all talking shit, which is feasible as well… Difficult to know. We’re seemingly much tighter-lipped but I also don’t subscribe to the idea that Ashworth has a North Korean style vice grip on all leaks coming out of the club.

40-60m left depending on which journalist you want to believe. Or infinity if you don’t want to believe any and go off gut instinct.

I’m all for not being taken for mugs in the market but consistently underbidding and then seemingly walking away isn’t the super savvy transfer policy many are saying it is. You just end up buying players lower down on your list. I do however understand that we apparently have a budget so it’s perhaps not massively straightforward. I wholeheartedly believe we’ll make 2 solid, if underwhelming (to some) signings by the end of the window so no reason to panic. -
re: Kamaldeen The guy was a really in-demand and highly-touted prospect before his back injury. If he’s fully fit again then he’d be a bargain for less than 30m; he’s a player that after a good full season his value will likely be 40 odd million +.

Apologies it’s the express. Nothing new or groundbreaking but here: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1650205/Newcastle-two-players-James-Maddison-Leicester-Premier-League-transfer-news -

Daily Mail says we’ve moved on to other targets. Werner (who seems nailed on for Leipzig) and Cornet. -
We’re buying Gordan. 35 million you say?
