James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)

Him and Werner would be an absolutely dreamy end to the window . -
They’ve made solid signings with the Richarlison money tbf.

https://insidefutbol.com/2022/08/01/leicester-city-identify-replacement-for-newcastle-united-target-james-maddison/570929/ They’re looking at Aouar as a possible replacement according to this dubious source. -
Slightly concerned with their transition play; they’re absolutely rapid on the counter and press very aggressively. We’ve definitely got more quality but any sloppy passes in midfield could be punished. I’m sure it’ll be a competitive, high intensity game but I see us edging it. Can’t wait!

I’d say maybe a striker too.
-
Yeah. Plus Barca/Chelsea/Arsenal are a massive enough step-up for the player to force a move. Leicester to Newcastle isn’t quite the same jump (and currently it’s a side-step/ arguably a step-down), especially when you consider that we won’t be going crazy with our wage offerings. Still think this has legs but it’ll be closer to 60m before they consider accepting imo.

Same agency as Wood and Trippier as well so we’ve probably been given some form of feeling that a deal can go ahead. -
Not to give any credence to Edwards but he’s since revised that to 90 odd million.

stop it Leeds. If true, that’s a ridiculous offer for Harrison. I really like him as a player as well, but 47m euros??

Gents, don’t do this to yourselves. We’re not getting Maddison. And no, I’m not watching his YouTube compilations right this second and assessing whether or not he has the work-rate to play in an Eddie Howe midfield 3 or if he should be deployed on the rw, tucking in. -

I can go one better. They’ll offer 50 million and Werner, have it accepted and they won’t need to sell us Maddison as well -

They won’t sell us Maddison when they can get 60m plus for Fofana. A cb is easier to replace than the goals, assists and general attacking quality of someone like Maddison. -
Scored more goals than all of our wingers combined last season*, for a team that got relegated. He’s no Maddison but he’d be a huge improvement. *or near enough.
-
I’d be okay with that tbf. It’s an improvement.

That’s so shit. I read the article; it’s just a rehash of what we already know. -
Oh boy! rejection in 10, 9, 8….

Could’ve given me at least 10 minutes to dream ffs! -
One thing I will say about Lascelles is at least he’s a specimen physically; has great recovery pace and a goal threat on set-pieces. He did look decent when Rafa paired him with someone extremely calm, composed and positionally brilliant in Lejeune, so I can understand the thinking in partnering him with Botman. Big BUT though, Lascelles’ positioning and reading of the game in defense is genuinely horrible. I am impressed by how much better on the ball he’s looked in pre-season but he’s still miles away from Schar and Burn in that regard.

Or you can test him in the Championship and see if he excels or not there. There isn’t “only one way to find out” at all. -
I’ve said this earlier but these aren’t that bad. Their youngish, hungry squad and decent manager will get them mid-table imo. Lots of absolute no-hopers at the bottom end of the Championship.
-
Salzburg have already said they’ll be listening to offers in the summer of 2023 iirc.
-
Even just getting Cornet in gives us the goal threat on the rw and the cover to ST that we’re desperate for. Anything beyond that (and I would expect 1 more 25m+ player) would make this an incredible window imo. A Barnes, Maddison or Werner type signing and my socks would be in orbit.

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup

Kept that highlighted on my translate thinking it was a Spanish word for something -
Only thing I garnered from today is the guy is quick. Useful for a full-back tbf.
