Very reluctant to rubbish sides like these tbh. Appreciate the level of football in many European leagues is fairly shite but to get to this stage they obviously have something about them. They've beaten Benfica, Copenhagen and Frankfurt who aren't terrible sides and drawn with Chelsea who are further up the table than us both in the Champions League and the Premier League. Appreciate they got dicked off Liverpool like but that can happen to many teams if it's a good day at the office for them (and a bad day for you). The other thing is this team would have been doing that same journey that we're complaining about each time they've played away. I'd happily take a draw and bring them back to St James' where we can hopefully do the business. I'd be disappointed to go out to them, no doubt about it, but aye...let's not underestimate them.

Aye. Harvey Barnes would be a better option as it stands in my opinion.

On the basis ot what folk are saying Jacob Murphy is also worth a similar fee I'd be expecting ball park £60million though tbh at least.

I mean I was being facetious but aye...point taken

Thanking you good Sir. Will read and digest soon.

You Sir, are a diamond. I will digest this shortly.

The formation before the game was defined as 4231 and rightly so , but he did drop deeper at times to perhaps make it appear a 433. There's not really that much difference tbh. Howe did similar last season with Longstaff and Tonali where he slowly tweeked and adjusted and eventually it came good. He's having to do the same with Woltemade and our attacking options now. I often think folk get a bit caught up on the formations and this whole "Eddie Howe doesn't change things". He has a somewhat winning identity to his strategy and has had to make minor adjustments based on the personnel available, irrespective of formation. I.e. I think he always wants us to play a direct style of football with the ball and a high press without. The number of games has impacted the latter and forced us to be less compact especially following a turnover in possession and this is where I'd have my largest criticism of Howe this season - I feel he's attempted to keep everyone fresh by rotating one or two each game where perhaps he'd have been better to run with his preferred 11 and then directly swap players in and out where absolutely necessary. It would have helped with the cohesion and bedding new players in. Easy to say that in the aftermath though. When we consider he got us to the league cup semi final and through again yesterday with a CL playoff game and potential knockouts games on the horizon he may well just be proven to have managed this nigh on perfectly with what he had available. Anyways...I've waffled now

I mean...did you really need to ask that? One is an ignorant bell end and the other is the king of calcio.

If I could be arsed I'd love to list the teams we've drawn across cup competitions since Howe arrived. (Yes...this is a hint for someone equally intrigued to do the same on my behalf.) We must be due a 'perceived' easier tie.

I actually felt it was as obvious as it could be tbh. Obviously, I'm a tad biased. The defenders were not only stood in a line but on the line of the 18 yard box. One or two players looked to have body parts offside for Villa and weren't "interfering with play" which is a nonsense in itself but Abraham had his full body offside. The fact that the line acted as guidance and it was from a dead-ball situation rather than when the game was in flow made it even worse.

I mean he didn't really make enough of a coherent sentence because he was trying to think of what to say in a second language. I felt he understood the question but was trying to diplomatically say "No - the decisions were shite" but in such a way that wouldn't see him reprimanded.
-
I was thinking you'd maybe take your planned 11 and a slightly weakened bench purely to give them more rest from the travelling etc. Like. Not sure how that would look at present. For example you may start Wissa out there and leave Woltemade or Gordon at home or whatever it may be. Either way...I'll trust Howe's judgement.

Has an appalling record versus this lot.
-
Paraphrasing...but that every player in there owes it to Eddie Howe to how they've improved and what they've achieved and that they'd all leave everything out there for him and had to show more than what they had been and alleviate the pressure on Howe. I think. That and the refereeing was shite - which the interviewer was asking Sandro and he didn't seem sure how to answer it without getting a ban. Was good from K-Trips

Unusual that. Shows how bad it was.
