  1. League games is Sir John Hall Level 7, usually blocks H and J. Cup games we are situated in the South East ('Strawberry') Corner. www.toonultras.com/forums Sign up mate and see what the craic is. (am I allowed to do that on these forums...i'm sure i read somewhere something about advertising)
  2. Things will probably get discussed in the coming weeks regarding our name, so that we can gain more members, etc.
  3. I swear i must be missing something. I haven't entered or read any of the Toon Ultras arguments/debates, but is there actually summat, hidden beneath it all, that is so dispicably taboo about the name, or something? I don't know what dispicably taboo means, but basically 'Ultras' on the continent are known for being hooligans and go round stabbing one another, etc. So despite everyone knowing we don't inted to cause trouble, it deters people from joining, for the fact it has a connotation of hooliganism.
  4. The name change debate has been brought up once again in the council forum and will no doubt be debated in the main forums, for anyone wishing to express there views feel free to join up www.toonultras.com it will be in the Toon Ultras Talk section within the coming week no doubt...
  5. 100% Agree with this and i hope it gets put into action!
  6. I was wondering that the first time I heard it, I thought f*** off it's not just you lot singing the whole stadium has been on it's feet singing for most of the match. Then I saw all the police and realised what was going on. I understand why people may think it's a step back to change the name as people have learned it but this is something that is meant to carry on for many years. If it was a short term thing, fine keep the name. But it's not and thats the one of the biggest problems of the current Ultras team they have a short term mindset and don't like new suggestions from people who have created things which have been a success in the past. I went on the portal and gave my two cents once and was basically told my opinion wasn't welcome f*** off, so I did and haven't posted since and I know this has happened to others. I'm sure if you began posting on our forums once again, you wouldn't recieve such a hostile reception. The problem with our forums is that we get alot who go on purely for the craic, and alot are far to stubborn. Recently we have gained quite a few members off here who have signed up to see what we are about, and all the 'Bring Back The Noise Boys' are being a bit more open minded. Currently there is a bit of a divide on the forums about name changes and the likes, so that will work in your favour as a member giving your opinion. Whatever is said just take it with a pinch of salt mate. If i am totally honest (again) there are alot of people on our forums who don't do fuck all for the BBTN Boys, in terms of visual displays and making suggestions. But they turn up and sing which is what counts. One member springs to mind 'MightyMags' who is a bit like your 'Crumpy Gunt'. Also people like 'Washingtoon'/'Washingarse' just fuck around. Like already mentioned just take it on the chin and keep posting, there are some good new ideas being talked about at the moment, including the possibilites of a surfer, a card display, and new flag designs...
  7. What is it your actually doing?
  8. Great post mate. I think alot of our members are very stubborn and believe that we can keep progressing alone. I must admit i agree to a certain degree, but at the same time, our aim is to Bring Back The Noise, so if we get more people on our side this will happen quicker. I think we should change our name still, but having flags/banners with our name on and everyone knowing us as Toon Ultras are problems. If we were to change our name it would kind of be one step back...(in some peoples eyes). I think alot of our members are also worried that if we get too much of a relationship with the club that they will take over and we will lose any say in what we do, and to be honest that i don't blame them for. Just wondering what did you mean by "new criteria"? that kinda lost me off a bit. Anyways sorry that post was pretty unstructured, but y'kna haha.
  9. I must admit, it is a rather foolish idea. At first i was all for it, but when i think about it, we are trying to gain a relationship with the club and other fan groups like yourself, and by doing this we could be wrecking all chance of us gaining a relationship. I think what you have mentioned will only happen if the club continue to show us no support/continue to give us no feedback. It is kind of a way of hitting back saying, who else is going to sing and provide an atmosphere. Obviously it isn't just the BBTN Boys who sing, but everyone who attends the home games must admit we provide alot of the atmosphere. Just for the record i would also like to say that 'Do You Want An Atmosphere?' is aimed at the over-zealous stewarding and policing not the remainder of the ground as it may seem.
  10. http://toonultras.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3 There is quite a few in there from various home and away games, they are mainly pictures of the fans. But feel free to use them....
  11. NUFC.COM amongst others appear to be calling us the BBTN Boys now, maybe you could use the same alternative name? I'm pretty sure almost everyone who reads these forums regularly, and the club, are fully aware of our ambitions. You don't have to promote us or anything, it would just be a thread for us to post up possible flag designs, display ideas, and new songs, then people could make suggestions about how to improve things. Currently, Toon Ultras have several new songs that seem to be struggling to get out for everyone to know. I think with a thread similar to the one previously mentioned alot more people can join in with our songs and get more involved whether people are Ultras or not....resulting in a louder St James'.
  12. I like that idea. I think it would be a great move for us (Toon Ultras) because we need to get as many people on our side as possible. Obviously it won't matter as much for the Newcastle-Online lot because your already an established site and the only way we can help you is by increasing the atmosphere and making your matchdays more enjoyable. I think it could maybes be a good idea to have a Toon Ultras 'sticky' just so we can post up current ideas and events that we are planning. Just so we can make it clearer what is happening. If an Admin'/Mod' would be willing to do this it would be much appreciated.
  13. I would like to strongly emphasise this point. 'Do You Want An Atmosphere' has been belted out by the Toon Ultras at the last two home games as a result of over-zealous stewarding. I am sure you are all aware of this.
  14. Apologies readers, I just felt that this would be a good thread in which to yet again post up the best interests of the Toon Ultras. How Can You Help? In order for the Toon Ultras to succeed in their mission to ‘Bring Back The Noise’, we will need your help, and guidance. If we can gain an understanding, and a relationship with you, the club, we are sure we can progress and become champions both on and off the pitch. Below is a list of things we believe you could do to help. If you would be willing to consider all of these then it would be greatly appreciated. · Written permission to bring in flags on poles longer than 1metre in length, providing they are not obstructing another supporters view during match time. · A write up on the official website promoting our campaign to ‘Bring Back The Noise’. · Permission to hang our banners over the level 7 balcony, where in the past there has been advertising. If this becomes a problem financially maybe a small fee could be agreed between the Toon Ultras and yourself. · A safe place to store any items we may need to use for multiple visual displays. I.e. Banners, flags, etc. · Written permission to enter the ground earlier than the turnstiles get opened. This would allow us plenty of time in order to get visual displays set up, and ready for pre-match. Finally, there are two more suggestions of how you can help us ‘Bring Back The Noise’ or simply generate an atmosphere to be proud of. The first of these suggestions is reasonably simple, yet the second would prove highly beneficial but may seem rather cheeky on our behalf. Firstly, it has been rumoured that the song ‘Local Hero’ will no longer be played as the players walk out onto the pitch. Well in not just the Toon Ultras opinion, but in the eyes of many Newcastle fans this would be a huge blow. ‘Local Hero’ is part of every Newcastle fans match day experience, and we the Toon Ultras feel it is a vital part of the pre-match build up. Just before they kick off, and the drums end the song, screams bellow out from every Newcastle fan in the ground, this is what we need. We need something which says, “I’m proud to be a Geordie”, and that is exactly what that song does, especially because it was played by one of the greatest Geordie musicians of all time-Mark Knopfler. In addition to this, we also believe several songs would liven up the ground pre-match. If some of the following songs could be played, we the Toon Ultras feel it could make a huge impact on the atmosphere: I’m Coming Home Newcastle Fog On The Tyne Don’t Let Go (You’ve Got The Music In You) Hey Jude Blaydon Races Local Hero Secondly, the Toon Ultras are only a young and fairly small organisation currently, despite beginning to grow rapidly recently due to articles written by Lee Ryder in the Chronicle and True Faith. A lot of our current members are fairly young and are still carrying out their studies at school, 6th form, college or university, and money can be hard to come by to produce the displays we aspire to. So any form of financial backing would be a huge help also. However, it is not a necessity and not a problem if this cannot be done.
  15. I don't like this idea. It would mean the away days would be filled with even more old grumpy bastards. No offense. I appreciate where you're coming from, but away days are a thing for younger generations to go to and shout and sing. Not for old 'past being enthusiastic' supporters. I know for a fact alot of people will oppose this opinion of mine but still, there it is...
  16. No because too many people don't know the right words. Too Many people sing it too fast, and too many people don't know the second/third/etc verses. If the song was already playing then the tempo would already be set, I don't think it's too much to expect people to pick the words up either. Fair points, but it is far more up-tempo than those previously mentioned. Even Hey Jude would be alright, so that LALALALA Geordies bellowed out a few times.....?
  17. No because too many people don't know the right words. Too Many people sing it too fast, and too many people don't know the second/third/etc verses.
  18. Yes, charge them more! With their silly hair and inappropriate ear rings! More than kids but less than adults aye. pah! If your old enough to not be allowed to smoke at the match, you're old enough to pay full price. and if you don't like it, go TWOC an old lady, or whatever the hell it is that you young 'uns do these days. <gets out pipe and looks over his half-moon glasses> TWOC an old lady... You can't smoke at matches now no matter your age. We are not old enough to drink, vote and drive until a later age. So for under 18's/under 21's the pricing should be slightly cheaper. No, it shoudl be more, because us actual men give the club more money through beer sales. As if a bottle of pop isn't enough too. a quid 70 or something isn' it?
  19. Why? I don't expect anybody on this board to get any enjoyment out of them but I'm sure thier are little kids out there who love the mascots. Don't do us any harm and don't affect my enjoyment so I'm fine with them staying. There fine on cup games for the kids. League macthes are a no though. As the majority are old miserable gits on league fixtures.

  22. Bring Back Local Hero!!! Singing section? Even if it's just for cup games at the moment. Young adult pricing. Seperate prices for under 21's. Allow larger flags to be waved inside the ground, even if they are club employed. MORE SENSIBLE POLICING!!!!!!
  23. We had me-aged 17, Kane-aged 18 and Jordan-aged 21 (i think) so i think it is fair to say we had decent representatives. Fair point about the 'portfolio', it may ahve sounded a little immature, but the Toon Ultras is made up predominantly by youths. They cannot expect us to be Einsteins with loads of experience. I personally believe it was set out well enough to get our point across in a nice manner. But in the future we could maybe ask some of your writers or something to help us out? Regarding my previous post, i think they are dealing with us slightly unprofessionally because they said they would be back in touch within a week and two weeks have passed. It doesn't take much to ring up and have a brief 5minute chat to say what the crack is. Like i have said, they will have bigger fish to fry, but i think they could keep us happy by updating us.
  24. I must admit i was proud of our effort tonight, but what actually made the atmosphere so good was the stewards being wankers. If they hadn't have done that i think people might have got increasingly frustrated and it would have only been our block singing. But becaus ethey were awkwards parts of the East Stand, Gallowgate and the remainder of 'The Corner' got on our side which pumped the volume up more. Regarding the meeting with the club, i think they are considering us, but seem to be doing it in an unproffessional manner. But lets face it, Toon Ultras is a nothing organisation compared to Newcastle United, and although Bringing The Noise Back may be our top priority it is highly unlikely to be top of theres. With a bit of patience, and singing in the stands like tonight, i am sure everything will fall into place. Thanks for the compliments lads (and lasses).
