It's going to be interesting in particular for me. It's a Birthday piss up for me, as i'm going to be 19 on the Wednesday before it. It should have been Givens ball in an ideal world. However, as a defender I know myself that in those situations you get rid. "If in doubt, knock it out!" It's possible that this was just a lack of understandingbetween Shay and the two centre halves....the same lack of understanding which will hopefully be eradicated as time goes on.

Personally I felt this was more down to the poor defending and cove rprovided by our wingers. Geremi is passed it and too slow and Charlie just doesn't have a defensive mind/any defensive qualities.

It's far too early to judge him. I think he looks decent so fa rbut he needs some consistancy along side him. No back four can play to its full potential until it has had a substantial period to gel.

Some of what Souness said was understandable. I'm with Kinnear on this one though...fuck the press. Quite chuffed about the result, i'm sure we were all assuming defeat was the only answer after we went 1-0 down never mind 2. I kept my mouth shut at 40minutes when the lads I was watchign it were saying we had no chanc eof owt though, and was repayed by a brilliant Steven Taylor header. After we equalise I felt rather proud of what we had achieved. Going 2-0 down under the circumstances we are in and after the recent form made it seem like it was impossible to claw any form of result out of it, yet we showed that belief and determination to get something. Now we just have to kick on from that! It's not going to be easy but it can be done!

Michael Owen is the 1, I repeat 1, player we have with undoubted quality. To get rid of him would be rediculous. He's been the one who's carried us through the last 4 or 5 games, the only one showing all of the necessary ingredients. Just because he was absent today doesn't mean we should sell him...christ. For me...Kinnear has simply made quotes, that are the equivalent to what every Newcastle fan is thinking. He has fucked off the press, and good on him. The only way he was going to gain support from the fans without playing games was to do that, because tbh no-one was exactly ecstatic about his appointment. If he causes a bit of a stir up I couldn't care a shite as long as we perform. Today we performed...averagely...but with a bit of fight, which resulted in us clawing ourselves back from what appeared to be another worrying defeat. What difference does it make if he does slate them, they victimise the North East anyways, only now they have a reason to. Fuck the press. As long as we have a bit of fight and pull ourselves out of this mess I couldn't give a toss. At 2-1/2-2 when our support chanted "Newcastle United Will Never Be Defeated!" that said enough to me. When backs are to the walls you have to come out fighting, and I think that's exactly what his press conference did, it gave us a bit of fight back. So hopefully it will continue and we can climb up the league!
