He looked good, but the one thing that struck me was that he dived into tackles a bit freely and early, when a few times staying on his feet would have been much more beneficial. I'll put that down to the nature of his first pre-season and wanting to really impress the manager though, if not I'm sure we'll coach him out of it.

I think Coloccini, Taylor, Williamson and Williams is a good quartet of centre-backs to go into the season with, particularly if our cover options are Perch, Tavernier, Good and Streete. Williams is a good footballer as well as a defender; I know the Swansea style gets a bit of a panning but it's great if we sign him and he's already really comfortable with using the ball well and keeping possession.

Ashley Williams would be absolutely superb. Really hope we can get him.

If we get Good and Koura (the trialist) then we've done really well lining the underbelly of our squad this summer. We do need those 2-3 first teamers in the critical positions though.
