I always find it pleasing that we're signing players from successful clubs. Tiote, Cabaye and Anita all from teams who've just won their league. The winning mentality can only help. I suppose we signed Ba and Cisse from struggling teams, but with the logic that 'if they can do that well in a shit team...' - which completely negates my original point I suppose strikers are a sort of different animal though, if they're scoring they're confident even if the team is struggling.

I said it a few weeks ago but as soon as we make one first team signing in a position that needs strengthening, the whole situation will suddenly look absolutely miles better. I'm still hopeful on Debuchy, and strikers will likely become available towards the end of the window when teams start to buy players.

Jonas will play 30+ games this season if he stays fit. Very confident of that.

Pardew said he thought Obertan was 'probably the pick of the bunch' against Braga, and he also waxed lyrical about him being 'in a better place compared to this time last season' or summat. Oh, and he was gushing about his goal against Hartlepool too. I reckon it's very likely.

Anyone who thinks Obertan and Jonas won't play has a nasty surprise waiting for them. I have a suspicion Shola will start the game too.
