  1. The fact that a lot of new managerial positions have opened up is worrying me a little.
  2. It's depressing to say but we looked better under Bruce. Hope Howe is confirmed asap. He'll need time to do something with these players
  3. Watching us play football is about as enjoyable as passing a kidney stone.
  4. I think he's waiting for Man U to come calling
  5. Good video, I also didn't realise how truly horrific the Hull owners are. I guess Ashley's treatment of us wasn't the only instance of the media ignoring a club being mistreated.
  6. Also, after going on a bit of a Sam Fender binge in the last few days I watched the video of him meeting Shearer which was pretty funny. I actually laughed at his opening line of "I was just talking about you, I was saying Michael Owen's a twat"
  7. After the Demba Ba thread got updated I had a look through his twitter and saw that Habib Beye is the assistant manager to Red Star FC (Paris), I thought he'd gone to Serbia randomly for a moment. Random bit of retired toon player trivia for you all.
  8. Get Meat Stack into the stadium, I want the stands to smell like beef fat chips.
  9. I ended up leaving work a bit early via the Tesco and had a few cans at SJP with a mate. Saw the rowdies kicking a cabbage around and had a chat with people in the crowd. I saw LEFFE and a few of the others with the sign which was just lush. Also saw Neesy briefly. I hadn't seen so many happy Geordies since Bruge away many years ago, the buzz was amazing. I almost decided to stay out and pull a Sam Fender at work the next day but I'd promised my gf that I would be back at a decent time. Regret that a bit
  10. I can't see a world where someone becomes a billionaire without being morally bankrupt.
  11. I'm poised to head to the stadium via Tesco's
  12. Is he worth the price? It seems to be a lot of money for a player that's had 1 good season.
  13. Oh, was that the source? One of my mates said he wasn't coming back and I took his word for it.
  14. I thought he was staying with the England set up?
  15. Nervy game. I went from feeling confident to shitting it as we moved through the second half. I was frustrated by the lack of subs by us but everything worked out in the end. Missed the second goal because I had my back to the TV, head in my hands after the penalty save I thought Walker looked great last night after looking a bit shaky in a few of the previous games. Still cringe everytime Pickford has anything remotely difficult to do, I thought he should have saved that free kick, but tiny arms etc. Can't wait for Sunday, I've watched the majority of the England games with my old high school friends who I hadn't seen in ages. It's made the footy even better. Sad there's only one game left
  16. Italy were the better team but I can't stand the gamesmanship, absolutely hate it with a passion. That said they look like the best team in the tournament at the moment.
  17. Winner: France Runner Up: Germany Golden Boot Winner: Mbappe Player of the Tournament: Mbappe Young Player of the Tournament: Kai Havertz How far will England get: Quarter Finals Surprise Team of the Tournament: Croatia First manager to be sacked post tournament: Southgate
  18. Saw this on reddit and it's pretty great
  19. Was kind of hoping everything would crash and burn, and we could all enjoy some post apocalyptic footy. Ho hum.
  20. This is the one. I had dragged a few mates from my Uni to watch this and I had to apologise to them after the game
  21. This is such a punch to the gut. It's the feeling of powerlessness that get's you. The premier league is the premier league, it's not like people will stop watching football. What a shit way for this all to end.
  22. If this happens I can finally get a season ticket again I was beginning to lose hope of ever seeing the back of Ashley.
  23. happy enough to ignore his total shithousery to sheff wed then? and his previous record for fucking clubs over to further his own ambition nice guy steve Shithousery? All I've read is speculation. I’m not sure I agree. Pretty much everyone I have spoken too about NUFC are angry, some won’t even talk about it anymore because the anger is that bad. I’m even coming across fans of other clubs who are starting to agree with us, I thinks it’s the case that allowing Rafa to leave has made fans of other clubs sit up and take notice. My stepdad worked with Bruce’s brother, and you are right, he’s a Newcastle fan. However any self respecting fan should have looked at the bigger picture, Keegan, Shearer, and Rafa all told him not to take the job on. He ignored the advice of what are now 3 legends of the club. Let's see how angry everyone is once we've made a few more signings and the season is upon us. Rightly or wrongly, I can almost guarantee you that the anger will have simmered and there'll be at least 45k at the Arsenal game. People just want to watch their team... it's a simple as that. You've got to remember that at least 75% of that stadium on a match day will leave the ground and barely give NUFC another thought until the next match. They're not all "die hard", "read everything on the internet" kinds of fans. Sure, some are. But most, and certainly those I've spoken to, are just too busy in their day to day lives to really get angry enough. Rightly or wrongly, at lot of people's attitudes are simply "life's too short" to worry too much about it. I can see it from both sides. Too busy in their lives to consider whether they are being robbed blind. I can believe that. Yeah, 100%. Most match day customers are relatively casual fans in comparison to people on this forum. Most just want to go to the football. It's an emotional, communal thing for them. They enjoy it, regardless of the ownership. Depressing and true. I don't know the reasons why, though I'm sure it revolves around wider social/societal factors (maybe ticket prices/wealth), but the matchgoing percentage of the fanbase doesn't have the mentality to protest en masse like people have done in Italy and Germany. That's an interesting point. I've been wondering why our fans are willing to take so much while other clubs actually manage to have united organised protests. Wonder if the location of the stadium is a factor as well.
  24. But if that "less revenue" is enough to mean the club makes him a loss rather than a profit, his whole reason for owning us disappears. It doesn't have to reduce his income to zero. Just enough to make us a millstone around his neck rather than a cash cow for him. Saying "but other revenue is more" is completely missing the point. Ticket revenue wouldn't be the difference between profit and loss How can you type that with a straight face? According to the latest released figures for 2017/18, we made an operating profit of £17.6m Ticket revenues were £24m So yes, on its own and without looking at anything else, ticket revenue absolutely is the difference between profit and loss for Mike Ashley. A further £28m was brought in through sponsorship, and trust me if you've got an empty stadium and nobody buying shirts then that takes a hit too. Add in further that if we go down, he looses the TV money and we'd all agree that a full stadium decreases the likelihood of relegation but to be honest to get shot of him it's a price I'd accept in a heartbeat to have my club back. In summary: Don't talk utter rot. I didn't look at the accounts Is that total profit of the club in the 2017-2018 season then? £17.6m? If we do make a loss, then the debt goes up by the way, which means the price goes up which means its even more difficult for a potential buyer. Not going wouldn't work. But even if it would work it wouldn't work.
