  1. Not yet but once Torres goes, they'll probably go to £32m-£35m. Then its 'shit a brick' time.
  2. James Beattie going to Blackpool.
  3. Why did Everton let Pienaar and Yakubu leave if they aren't using that money to buy someone? For £3m it was worth just keeping Pienaar.
  4. i swear its been 1:19pm for an hour now. just be 11pm already!
  5. "Liverpool have no intention of selling Torres"......who are they trying to kid? They've just bid for Carroll man. Torres is gone gone gone.
  6. Its just incredible seeing us rejecting £30m bids on deadline day! But Carroll is not for sale at any price today. If in the early summer we're given £35m-£40m then we'll see but theres no chance of him leaving right now. After everything Ashley has done, I just have to say well done to the regime for holding firm so far. Everyone sit tight, it's gonna be a long day.
  7. Briefly mentioned in another thread, but I reckon we'll make a late move for Larsson. That'll be it and concludes another good January window for us. In general, Torres will stay, Adam will go to Liverpool, Bradley to Villa, West Ham will panic buy 3 or 4 players, Spurs will fluke somebody VdV style (maybe Forlan), Chelsea will get a defender, Everton will find a striker and there'll be a few loan deals going around.
  8. Caulkin has posted his deadline day predictions: NUFC: Ireland loan confirmed, no more incomings, Xisco leaves, Barton new contract announced, Carroll stays. Sunderland: no more incomings,Reid joins Blackpool on permanent deal (replacing Adam?), Da Silva to Zaragoza, perhaps other loans out. I reckon its Ireland in, Xisco out and a late bid for Larsson that could go through. David Craig will try to create drama with Carroll but theres no way he's leaving so he'll look even more stupid than usual. Especially with ketchup around his mouth.
  9. £5m agreed fee is very good. Impressive.
  10. Hulk just would not sign for Sunderland. Not a chance. So Dave, can you see that he's browsing this place? He should sign up here, he's definitely one of the better journalists.
  11. At least Xisco's wages can pay for Ireland. Nice car.
  12. Still, I can't wait for yous to buy a striker so yous can keep away from Wor Andy. Getting bored of it now. But then it might makes Spurs even better.....what a dilemma!
  13. Llorente would be stupid to go to Spurs considering its a safe bet that he's otherwise off to Real Madrid in the summer.
  14. Fair enough, I just really rate him. Maybe not good enough to be an Arsenal regular but a really canny player. He could be the star of that team.
  15. keane hasn't looked good in ages, ba is broken (failed stoke medical) and bridge......do i even need to say it? keane and bridge aren't spurs/man city quality anymore but (apart from bridge's horror show on his debut) they're good enough for bottom of the table, definitely. admittedly ba could go either way, but at a minimum i reckon he'll be better than ilan, mido, mccarthy and sears have been. will chip in with 5 or 6 goals.
  16. Villa are building a canny squad there, they'll be up the league in no time. Having said that: WBA - Vela Birmingham - Bentley, Martins West Aaaaam - Keane, Ba, Bridge Its difficult to see any of them going down either, so it'll be really interesting to see who joins Wigan and Wolves in the bottom 3. Especially if Adam leaves Blackpool. btw/ Pienaar, Rakitic and Annan bought for a total of £6m incredible.
  17. It's a good deal and I take him. But the question is: where will he fit in, in our formation? By all accounts, he was better playing off a striker at Man City. Luckily we're short of options up front too, so when Ben Arfa comes back we'll have Ireland, Ben Arfa and Nolan floating around getting on the end of Carroll's knockdowns. and sorry, towelie :-[
  18. This year we've seen Bale, Nasri and Wilshere emerge strongly, so Carroll is pretty unlucky this year. Southern/big team bias dictates that he won't get Young Player of the Year.
  19. Ignoring his past loopiness: 1. we only have 4 fit midfielders 2. ireland > nobody 3. its only a loan....try before you buy! can't see how this is anything but a good deal.

    Sunderland...

We're Newcastle United - Kevin Keegan, The Entertainers nearly winning the league, Alan Shearer, Bobby Robson, Champions League, lush stadium, always on the TV, always on the news, we broke the world transfer record and we're based in a wonderful city. The only contributions they've made to Premiership history are Kevin Phillips and finishing with the lowest points total (at the time). Even their manager supports us! Sunderland fans compare everything they do to Newcastle and we're always at the forefront of their minds. RTG is proof of this ridiculous obsession. They're the annoying dog that keeps humping your leg. They're irritating and you can't shake them off. Anyone that claims the obsession is equal is insane, as they're just incomparable.
  21. Getting a bit worried now. This contract needs sorting ASAP.
