General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)
Doctor Zaius replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Is it true Silverstone said that the averages was 33% success rate in the ballots? And that they've tried purchasing from resellers and the tickets don't exist? I'm sure people on this forum have bought from resellers ffs. Talking absolute rubbish on both counts. -
Your own football ability - how good are/were you?
Doctor Zaius replied to Big Geordie's topic in Football
You don't realise how good professional players are until you play against one. We had a lad play for our uni team for a semester who was also playing in the Finnish top tier. He was ridiculously good. -

I was alright. Played for the school, seconds at uni, local Saturday and Sunday leagues here and Derby, Saturday Alliance for a few seasons up here, what seemed like a well organised, decent level in Spain. When I was a student Id train on a Monday, play for the uni on a Wednesday, play Saturday morning and then for my mates Christian team on a Saturday afternoon then play on a Sunday morning too with the odd futsal game midweek as well. Two ACL operations later and ive not kicked a ball in about four years. Might try and play 5 a side again but i just dont trust my knee. Going to try and join a midweek cricket side - even though im rubbish. Just want to be involved in something again. -
Would love one of Georgia, Kazakhstan or Luxembourg to qualify, particularly the latter two.

Dont think we'll bother with Ekitike. He'd take a while to get up to speed given that he's not played a minute of football since August. Nowhere near the PSG team. Wonder why we couldnt have him training with us from now with a transfer/loan arranged to go through in January. Guess its legally too complicated but it would suit all parties.

Absolutely fuming that i forgot to turn auto renew off for the Athletic and the cunts took £30 off me or whatever it was. Read all about it! Newcastle takeover completed after negotiations!

Pope in the England XI Theres a reason why he's continually overlooked by Southgate. He cannot kick a ball. Going from players used to playing with Pickford, who is really good with his feet to Pope would set any team right back. Im not saying he's not a good goalkeeper, he's one of the best shot stoppers in the country and the command of his area is very good, but he shouldnt be coming into that England side.

I remember the last time Grantham played at Ashington, in the FA Cup it was. Ground has moved since then though!

He is but im not sure his footballing age is 28. Been playing at the top level from 17/18. Certainly on the decline despite a recent improvement in form.

Out for 6 weeks according to Baldwards. You knew as soon as Isak was injured, Wilson wouldnt stay fit. Hamstring injury basically every season at a minimum. What can you do.

Yeah, mentions it on the Football Ramble now and again. Think he lives out by the coast

On the Continent. I think Andy Brassell is great. Really knowledgeable and without the horrendous levels of misplaced smugness you get from the majority football journos. Probably the best non-nufc focused journalist when speaking about us too, given he lives up here.

Eddie Howe - Nominated for Manager of the Season
Doctor Zaius replied to InspectorCoarse's topic in Football
I cant be arsed with any criticism of Howe like. His hands were tied for Bournemouth. The players too. I thought Joelinton, Willock, Longstaff and the likes were all poor against Bournemouth, but its obvious why. They're not world class players who you can drop into any team and they'll show their quality. They look brilliant for us as part of our system. When we're unable to implement that system due to an a ridiculous amount of injuries, fatigue and fixture congestion, these players aren't going to be at their best. Whilst How has improved these players, they look way better for the most part because of the system. We have three players you could drop into any team they'd slot straight in; Isak, Bruno and Trippier (maybe Botman too). -
Squad is on the bones of its arse. We're a brilliant team, but with so many missing, we look so different. It's clear why Howe doesn't like changing it. It's difficult to criticise any of them given the circumstances.

I think Gordon can play as a third choice striker, as opposed to bringing in a player over the hill/mercenary willing to sit on the bench. Ordinarily you could have Barnes, Joelinton or even Almiron filling in on the left

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Newcastle United (07/11/23)
Doctor Zaius replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Winds me up that Tonali is banned. Think he'd have made a difference starting in both games. -
Bournemouth vs. Newcastle United: 11/11/23 @ 17:30 (Sky Sports)
Doctor Zaius replied to HaydnNUFC's topic in Football
Just realised Bruno is out for this. Could almost field an 11 if unavailable players Wilson is out too Murphy Botman Burn Targett Bruno Tonali Anderson Barnes Wilson Isak Anyway, id see anything other than Livramento at right wing. Brilliant player, but hes a full back. Hall or Miley in midfield perhaps. -
Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Newcastle United (07/11/23)

The game changes if he puts that away. We were on top and building pressure. Might have went on to nick it. Cannot be missing chances like that man. -
Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Doctor Zaius replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
I always maintained I'd be happy for us to drop into the Europa on the basis that we could win it but I think i'm in the minority. Though given our injuries, death or glory might be our best bet. -
Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Doctor Zaius replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
If Milan win at home to Dortmund and we lose to PSG thats it done and dusted for us, meaning the final group game is a dead rubber, which would be a crying shame. Really wanted a PSG win tonight to avoid that. -
I just dont want to finish bottom, so Id rather PSG pull it back.
