Ah gutted we havent got Belgrade, really wanted to go -
Im sort of on the fence about this squad. Southgate is loyal to his squad. Thats not a particularly bad thing and he's reaped the rewards with players performing for him who arent at club level. We know that club form doesnt necessarily translate at an international level. This 'club' feeling has been a big part of us doing well under Southgate. He shouldnt be picking players as a reward, he should be picking the squad that gives us the best chance at winning. Once you're in his squad, you're in his squad. If you're not, its hard to get in - see Sterling. However, there has to be a line. Looking ahead to the EUROS, Henderson has sacrificed his career at the top level - he shouldnt be there. Maybe he's given Phillips and Maguire a last chance to get some minutes elsewhere before the window closes, but if they literally arent playing at all at club level, theres no way he can take them. He'll have to cut those players loose at some point, he's just chosen not to yet. Its not as if the replacements are inspiring either.

Its going to be nigh on impossible to replace Pep - they'll have the pick of any manager in the world though.

I dont think many see Almiron as the answer to RW past this window/season do they? We've prioritised LB, CM, LW and (for some reason) RB. Its clear the next time we go 'big' itll be for right winger imo. Almiron presses really well but its clear as day he's technically limited and not really good enough if we want to kick on. His pressing and energy doesnt outweigh his limitations long term. The reason he hasnt gone id say is because we'll have to spend a lot if we want a quality right sided forward who can press, he did well last season and other positions have taken priority. We'll sign a replacement either in January or next summer and he'll either slip down the order or be moved on. As for this season, we can only work with what we've got. He's a big part of the pressing Howe is after but if we're playing a team thats going to sit back and implement low block, I'd have Gordon in for him. Perhaps even Murphy. His pressing is less useful then. But given our next two are Brighton and Brentford, who like to play, he'll start and probably rightly so.

I think because it was such a hyped up game, they did us over twice last season, Klopp is a wanker and the manner in which we got beat that made everyone absolutely raging - there's been a fair amount of over reaction. We weren't great second half, but we dominated most of the game. Even before the sending off we looked better. We created more chances throughout but they did well to stay in it and they nicked it. First goal was a brilliant finish by Nunez. The second was woeful from us, Bruno giving it away when the easy pass to Targett was on and then Burn caught flat footed. Going back to last season - Bruno had a habit of getting caught in compromising positions, was bound to be punished some time. Unfortunately it was in the worst possible way. I can see why the changes were made by Howe. Barnes is a 30m player and Longstaff was crucial last season. We've got a squad now, we cant whinge when players are brought on. I had no issue with the changes at the time. Wilson can hardly be blamed either. I dont have an issue with Howe's tactics. The problem was a failure to take chances. Its that final ball/composure/bit of quality that sets apart good players from top players. Now, Gordon had a good game, but im not convinced about his ability to take chances. Barnes looked ponderous (and wasted a similar opportunity V Villa). Almiron has little composure. Do these players have that quality to take us to the next level? We'll see. 70M spent on Gordon and Barnes - we need to see returns in crucial moments. Early days yet, but we'll see. It stings but I'm not concerned.

The most enraging thing was it was fucking obvious what was going to happen. I sat there and said over and over again that we needed a second and it became absolutely clear what was going to happen after we missed chance after chance.

Can't remember the last time I was this raging at a result

The Saudi league teams are only allowed 8 foreign players each. Thatll have to change if they want to make bigger progress. If im at a loose end ill happily watch some Serie A or La Liga, even stretching to Bundesliga, Ligue 1, SPL or less leagues. Unless i've got a specific reason to, I can guarantee that ill never sit and watch a Saudi league game like. Ill never have an interest in it because its so artificial.

As 4th seeds, do we start off with a match against the top seeded team in the group? Just realised Im away on holiday for the first game. Wounded. -
*absolute nonsense* Do you agree? Is this *stupid, uninformed take* right, what do we think? *One utter fool spouting shit* - some NUFC fans are saying this, are they wrong? Loads of accounts do this. Take shit and repeat it for clicks. When you're an account with 140k followers, you deserve every bit of stick for perpetuating bollocks. Fuck NUFC360. Delete your account.

Longstaff, Burn, Hall, Murphy and (I'm assuming) Anderson. When was the last time we had this many Newcastle fans in the team?
-
I don't know why, but his dad just looks like a bloke from Newcastle. Think this is tremendous business.

Beautiful exchange

What a disgrace he is saying he was cleared of all charges. Wildly, wildly different to having a charges dropped.

By the time next season rolls round you might be looking at Joelinton as the only starter from the Ashley era. That wouldnt be bad going for two and a half seasons.
-
We're definitely done like. Hall with an obligation to buy means we're already eating into the budget for next year. I do wonder if that means we wont spend in January. Guess it depends how we're looking in the league and whether Schar and Botman have remained fit/how the cover has looked. Think we'll go big on an right footed centre half and a right sided forward to replace Schar and Almiron next season.
-
Arent they supposed to represent the fans? Their reply should have been that its not within their remit to advise the club on their own ticketing policies. If the club want to implement something, thats up to them. Its fuck all to do with NUST. 'Noted' instead of 'advising or recommending' here is just pure semantics. If you didnt want to advise, you shouldnt have said anything. I cant ever remember the NUST asking members whether they wanted to implement checks at away games? if they did, then show us how fans/members were surveyed and the results?

Thought we defended really well. Final ball was lacking. You need luck and to make the most of any opportunities away to Man City and we had/did neither. The 3 v 1 chance after Rodri's error was our chance. Anyway, nothing to worry about. The best team in the world just had that bit more quality. Foden was superb. He needs to be a guaranteed starter for England. Seemed to suit playing for centrally. His style was as close to Messi as I've seen from any player with those bursts of brilliance. He just seemed to ignite as soon as he picked up the ball.
