IMO de Jong has to be on the pitch at the same time as Perez and Wijnaldum. They are the most technical players we have and if Rafa can get a system built around them we could spend the majority of games camped in the opposition half. Pity we don't have a prolific striker.

There seems to be a lot more hatred for Jack Colback now than there was 12 months ago. It's not only the position he found himself in but he also has a better understanding with de Jong who is a technician just like him. Maybe those two need to play up front together?

Sat on the bench for 60 odd minutes and still can't remember to remove his ring before coming on as sub. It's petty but it shows a lack of focus tbh. I hope I'm just making a meal out of nothing and he can knock 3 or 4 goals between now and the end of the season to help keep us up.

He has the ability to dance around heal-snapping challenges the same way Wijnaldum does, but we're just not seeing it from him. His touches are now a lot more deliberate and easier to predict. I guess it could be a phase he's going through as part of his learning curve.
