Call me ignorant, but since it does appear that he never gave any impression of being in a bad way and was indeed actively making plans for the near future, it is just beyond me what could have happened in his mind in the following 12 or so hours, what could have caused him to go to such a dark place that he thought this was the answer. Absolutely cannot get my head around it. So, so tragic.
I remember quite vividly him scoring against yous on the opening day of the 1996-1997 season. 2-0 win. Certainly does feel like he was with us longer, I must say.
Given was completely gone. Can't imagine what it was like for the likes of him, Williams, Allen etc yesterday. Never have they, or will they again, I doubt, care so little about the result of a match they're playing in.
The fact you have a thin squad which is severely weakened by 2 or 3 players being injured is hardly a myth.
What is a myth is that it is portrayed that other clubs don't face this same problem. As has been said, only a few clubs in this league can say they can consistently replace quality with quality. Arguably only 2. Maybe 3 (Spurs have a very good squad).
Would imagine there'd be big difficulties in decisively proving he meant to get booked. Almost impossible to say without some sort of assumption.
Not sure how you can say "well, that looked iffy" and punish him on the back of that. Not that I don't think it's a problem in the game.
Bonus points.
Been saying for a while, they're absolutely mental. It's that EA Index thing isn't it? Seems to be based so much on stats as opposed to who actually played well.
