Ability wise, I have no issue with DCL, especially given Eddie gets an extra 20% out of everyone. But we've seen the issues of relying on a back-up with an unreliable fitness record, particularly with Isak not being the most robust himself. It feels like a risk rolling that dice again.

I like the idea of having a target man option, where we can be a bit more direct, but I can't see us signing DCL. His injury record and availability v his wages wouldn't be worth the risk. Delap is more likely to join a club where he'd be first choice (Forest would be a good fit), but he'd still get plenty of game time here and the pathway to the England team is there for all to see. It'll probably end up being neither. I suppose it depends how much we intend to sink into the RCB and RW positions.

That's a fair point. With us seemingly looking at Europa League minimum, Delap should get plenty of minutes.

The Tonali to Juve talk is very odd. There's seems to be an acknowledgement that we're not willing sellers, but Juve have initiated contact with the player's camp regardless.

VAR absolutely can work: Check "clear and obvious" mistakes only i.e. clear hand balls or instances off the ball that the referee might have missed. Anything contentious or requiring a subjective view, we stick with the onfield call. Stop sending refs to the monitor. It adds another unnecessary layer to the process. Give a buffer or a margin for errors to eliminate immaterial offside calls. Better communication with the fans in the stadium. i.e. what is being checked and why? If it isn't going to be stripped back to serve its original purpose, bin it.

Forest v Brentford could be an absolute eye sore. Brentford are a really awkward team to play against and won't provide too much space for the Forest counter attack.
