  1. He really wouldn't. Liverpool would need to keep him in their wage structure or else they'll have half the club screaming for pay rises in that region, and any future signing will want the same signing on fee. Salah is at 350k a week, so let's be generous to little Alex and give him 400k. After taxes it would take him nearly 2 full years to break even - so effectively playing for free until 2027. And that's not factoring in the opportunity cost of giving up his current salary. There's a reason why no one has done it at this level of player before.
  2. Would've reduced bridge burning had he submitted one. The proper way is like Kane the year he finally left (not the first go round) - sit down at the end of the season, tell them you want out and to let the auction commence. In the meantime you train like any professional and say all the right things.
  3. Eddie's very good at seeing the big picture. As much as it pisses him, he'll know what happens if we cave. The squad will be picked apart to the bone like Leverkusen or Southampton back in the day within 12 months.
  4. So your solution is to reward him and give him everything himself and Liverpool want entirely on their terms? Brilliant.
  5. Just like any employment agreement, it will go both ways He needs to train unless excused, needs to turn up to games unless given direction not to etc.
  6. The search function is like the Ark of the Covenant... best left alone. I recall you taking a very anti Keegan/pro Ashley stance for a couple of years there.
  7. Thats not going to happen, it never does. It's just forum members letting off steam. If he is still at the club 1st of September, he will rejoin the first team, there'll be some PR photos of some fist pumps at training and it'll be happy families for 6-12 months depending on the terms of surrender. Like every other aborted transfer attempt involving star players. The club have no reason to let him rot in reserves.
  8. Totally. Liverpool never recovered from all the times they played hard ball over player transfers, even when they were still a circus. Now no one wants to join them.
  9. If you ignore the first 2 seasons - including flukily staying up with the lowest points total of a non relegated team in history.
  10. I'm sure they were definitely taking the players side when the shoe was on the other foot and Liverpool just arbitrarily decided that the release clause in Suarezs contract wasn't valid when Arsenal activated it.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVFckYwEzzc The only correct answer when Liverpool finally meet the proper valuation.
  12. My favourite Reddit hobby late at night when the baby is refusing to sleep is to have a gander on r/soccer and r/liverpoolfc and ask them about Coutinho. Simone Biles ain't got shit on the sort of gymnastics on display there about why them holding out and getting Barcelona to go from 60m to 142m is actually different.
  13. I think if there had been an agreement it would've been "leaked" all over the shop as justification by the Isak camp by now (if it has, I missed it). The only thing that has come out was Mitchell pulled a planned new Isak contract last summer - and that tidbit came from club sources as part of their info dump on the trail of destruction left by the little Levy wannabe.
  14. They have form as well. Rolled over on Van Dijk and paid a record fee for a defender when Southampton told them to fuck off initially. They also bent the knee when Leipzig refused to accept a pound less than the release clause and demanded the entire thing being paid up front for Szoboszlai.
  15. Which is my whole attitude about this. People are angry... so they want the club to accept 70 cents on the dollar, give him everything he wants and prove to the "big clubs" that when it comes time for them to make a play for Bruno, Livramento, Tonali etc they just need to cause a stink via Twitter and we'll roll over like obedient little dogs? I'm all for selling him now, but not for something that isn't a price that will stay at the top of the all time transfer list on Wikipedia for a long time.
  16. I mean, where has Sean shared this? I'm not saying it's not plausible, but Isak and his camp have done enough verified bullshit throughout this whole saga that we don't need to make up things to feel enraged about.
  17. I mean is there even a D grade Twitter source to reference for this? Or did Jeff down at the pub spread it around. Cousins dog knows the kit mans ex wife you know.
  18. And Staveley... Blackmailed him? Was holding a gun? Had his testicles in a vice?
  19. Yes, most of them did lol. Coutinho missed the first month of the season due to a "back injury" - but still played for Brazil. Van Dijk was ordered to train alone. Even Mr Barca Goat himself Messi refused to train during his transfer saga. If you think this is somehow a unique situation or particularly toxic, you haven't been paying attention to other clubs sagas. This is quite run of the mill by comparison. He hasn't even threatened to sue us yet.
  20. OK. Messi, Rooney, Coutinho, Van Dijk, Mbappe, Gerrard, Drogba, Tevez. Players of that calibre always come back to the fold for the year if their getaway fails. The closest to not doing that was Tevez when he flounced off to Argentina for 4 months, but even he came back and played a vital role in the title race. They have to if they want that move to still be available at the same (or higher) level of club and wages the next year.
  21. I have no qualms - the reporting has been that he was happy to join us as well, but for whatever reason Manchester was his first choice. It's the Owen situation I'd be wary of where they had no real interest full stop.
  22. Yep - Sesko is the one saying no. Utd will be forced to match our offer in the end, the Red Bull clubs have proven over the years very adept at getting every penny possible when selling outside of their group.
  23. Well he averages a goal every 6 games across his career in Ligue 1. Surprised Eddie wasn't chomping at the bit to get him.
  24. If we just had an official tractor partner, that could be us
