  1. Someone did the math in another thread - winning the Conference League gives you the same amount as making and getting knocked out of the Champions League group stage.
  2. Ashley did that multiple times whenever the heat was really on - he progressed from "run of the mill asshole owner" to "absolute c**t" territory for me in 2008 when he suddenly announced a Sir Bobby Day when the end was near and the morning of the match released a statement he wasn't selling up anymore (although it had been blatantly obvious for months he was waiting for the heat from Keegan and the Hull game to die down).
  3. Definitely. You know where they have physiotherapists? Munich.
  4. Ah good point - forgot about that whole circus with Capello.
  5. Strong Pardew vibes there. Beale's assistants better be careful with their dinner choices.
  6. Think that was more to do with they had already been knocked out of Europe early and had wrapped up the league with about 2 months to go. I assume Klopp is going to take over ze Germans? He has flirted with the national team in the past whilst Naglesmann is only contracted until the Euros
  7. Think that was more to do with they had already been knocked out of Europe early and had wrapped up the league with about 2 months to go.
  8. Legend - remember I found it about 5 years on some random site (Dailymotion?) but even that has disappeared Any chance you could upscale the Laurent Robert video and submit it for an exhibition at the Louvre? Rewatched it again before I posted it in here and it is just glorious - both the editing and what Robert was doing.
  9. Going way back to being in my first year Halls of Residence at university exploring this new fangled Youtube site: Sadly one called "Keegan Times" set to Bittersweet Symphony has disappeared to the ether.
  10. As a first choice or even second choice? Hell no. But as a third choice stop gap for when injuries and/or the fixtures pile up, sure. But we extracted fair value and than some from Nottingham Forest so I have no qualms about selling him, even with our current predicament.
  11. They have form with Ighalo and Weghorst. And Wood despite his lack of success here is probably a step above those two for the role he would play.
  12. For years their refrain was that we should be happy with what we had and they would kill for an owner like Mike Ashley. Looks like they got their wish - and this one is even 30 years younger and 50kg lighter so could potentially be around for much, much longer. Lucky them.
  13. I prefer a completely ambiguous statement so poorly worded that it can be interpreted as saying we will and we won't at the same time.
  14. Each subsequent Hazard was meant to be the best as well - outside of Thorgan none have even cracked the professional game, let alone been in the same orbit as Eden.
  15. Would've said the same thing word for word about Anthony Gordon 12 months ago tbh. Now i'd glass anyone who slags him off.
  16. They also disappear when we're shit as well... their little voyage into League 1 pretty much aligned with the Bruce years.
  17. Are you saying that there isn't a global cabal consisting of the worlds leading financiers, politicians and entertainment elite operating in the shadows with the sole purpose of keeping down Everton FC?
  18. There was also a Juventus midfielder which came out yesterday. Similar age, would've played with these two throughout all the youth teams.
  19. Had a look hoping for some entertainment on my train ride home last night... Full North Korea mode activated
  20. Apparently inviting bids from Oceania and Asia for 2034. Hope Australia sit this one well the fuck out after what happened with the 2022 sham. They'd have the best bid, but no way them or anyone else is winning against the Saudis. Rather taxpayers money went elsewhere, and that the money saved by the PIF not having to bribe everyone is redirected to Newcastle getting another marquee signing or two.
  21. I'd say three for the second point - Almiron was just less overt. Cabbage chops was turning him into an auxiliary wing back at one point whilst starting public fights with his agent.
  22. Oh hes getting full Howe'd alright. More just wish that it could've happened before he was pushing 30 and he could've reached that potential he used to flash.
  23. Is probably one of the bigger what if's in recent time for Newcastle - was a borderline England candidate in 2018 with his passing being what caused Southgate to not pick him. Then when we went to a back three in 2019 he started showing flashes of rounding out his game with his distribution. Of course, Fatty then chased out Rafa for Bruce and he stagnated like the rest of the squad for 3 years. Just a shame he is a couple of years older than Longstaff so won't be able to get Howe'd in time for his peak years.
  24. Those 6 goals in October last year paid back their fee all on their own when you consider the value making the Champions League
  25. Mitrovic, the one who was loaned out 18 months and sold 12 months prior to Bruce rocking up? Funny he fails to mention you had actually lost Rondon - the player of the season who Ashley refused to fork out for despite being desperate to stay and who was probably our most well rounded striker since Shearer besides Ba. What a fucking slug he is.
