Premier League contests Ofcom decision over Sky Sports
Super Duper Branko Strupar replied to Thespence's topic in Football
sky have a monopoly on the pay tv market, which is restricting competition simple as! the price to get sky with the sports is a total rip off especially for pubs! £2000 a month it costs a pub to get sky in, hence why many get in the foreign equipment Only because they were the only provider around that could offer it... they practically invented pay tv anyway. They went out and got the business, they set up the infrastructure etc as mentioned above. Who else could have competed even 3 years ago never mind 10? I agree, its far too expensive, they are extremely well marketed and offer little more in quality or cutting edge technology than anyone else, but I still maintain you cant MAKE them give it away cheaper. For ny on 20 years they have been the only provider that could have carried the PL and other pay tv football, if it wasnt for them the PL wouldnt recevie so much money, there wouldnt be as many games on TV, etc etc. So they should now go and shoot themselves in the foot? It should have been rgulated years ago!!! its the F**king PL's fault.... lazy money grabbing bas**rds -

Its not Sky's fault everyone else is Shit. Isn't this just Sky being pro-active in the past. I know its kind of monopolistic but also just good business. Just because every other channel fell by the way-side (anyone remember On:Digital/ITVDigital ..... god that was sh*t) so Sky was literally the only provider that could offer them doesnt mean they have to be hit with loss of earnings. -
F**king Leeds! Winning when they leave Beckford out.... He was a must sign like

Why is it still not a competition to win something? I know they stopped it after that phone in scandal but surely they're past that.

It would be good for them to have some kind of thing going on in the stadium, maybe parade the trophy round the pitch, have a couple of people saying a few things, maybe some promotion memorabilia on the seats (cheap tat obviously) - but not an oen top bus ride.

Spot on that like. Howay lads man its a new beginning, a chance to start again. You can't be having that attitude after the season we've just had man surely? How often have we moaned about the Premier League and we've had an outstanding season showing how good we really are, especially after how turd the Prem has been this season. Its been a fantastic holiday, kudos to the intense hard work put inby all. Frget the nonsense, forget the disapointments of last season and all that went before it. Celebrate this year and give it the f**king credit it deserves. Smile man ffs!

I'm not entertaining anyone who belittles this.... Its our biggest achievement in nearly 20 years especially given everthing that preceeded it. No one has performed like us this year in this league or the league above, No one!

Very Proud! We've shown the nation a thing or two. We neded to go down, Im almost glad we went down, probably been a more enjoyable season this year than it would have been if we stayed up, we may even be better equipped for the 10/11 PL season than we would ave been if we'd had this season in the Prem. I'll be celebrating the title, disrespectful to the league, other teams and the lads effort, commitment and outstanding mentality this year not to. Get the F**k on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take it you dont know about Ranger's reputation on here, then? yes i know about his reputation on here and i've seen enough of him watching him play for the academy, reserve and first team to know that he'll struggle to do more for NUFC than Shola has. I think its quite funny people are saying Shola can't cut it in the PL when he already has, he's scored goals in the PL and in europe for NUFC. Shola's problem is he can never stay fit long enough to get a decent run of games. When he's injury free he's definately good enough for the PL. Hopefully we'll find that after a season of confidence building and being part of a team playing for each other who know what each other are doing, we may be surprised by the levels that the likes of Shola, Loven, Routledge, Colo, Guthrie and maybe even Smith and Nolan, play at next season. No doubt we need to sign first team players and these lads can play what they need to until they either prove their worth or are ultimately replaced. Simpson isnt good enough, Butt is obviously gone along with Best and Pancrate. Ranger can go out on loan, somewhere in London so he can 'brap brap' all his heart desires. Definitely need at least 1 'good' striker in the summer, then maybe two by end of Jan. Def right back 2 mids.

When you consider those qualities were present in many teams who were weaker on paper than us in our relegation season who then finished above us it puts things in perspective. I don't think Hull or Stoke players were earning a quarter of what our superstar squad was but they did much better. Even on paper it's not that much worse when you think about it. Is Routledge worse than Duff? Probably not. Is Lovenkrands any worse than Owen nowadays? Not in terms of impact. Carroll any worse than Viduka? Maybe, but much fitter and younger. I wouldn't swap the current team for the previous one. Most of the players that went, we wanted them out anyway... and for good reasons. Beye for Simpson? Bassong for Williamson? Martins for Best?

Aye, the home game against Alkmaar was quality. 3 goals in however many minutes. I was sitting on the sofa when Oba scored and I literally jumped so high i punched the ceiling. Quality night out after that
