If Klose bags a couple of shinners against Uruguay I'm gonna be pissed for Ronaldo's sake. (The player, not resident antagonist.)

A bit FM-ish, but isn't Akinfeev available on a free in January?
-
Might depend on how he looks in pre-season. If he gets gametime in friendlies and looks very good he might be trusted to step up more. I don't think he'll be playing regularly, but I hope he plays the odd game.

Midfielder that can run, striker with pace and some cover on the wing and we'll stay up imo. You're probably right, at least it looks like Hughton has identified our criminal lack of athleticism in midfield... that's what the PL is all about. Hope so, if we end the window with Nolan and Smith both starting then we're doomed. I agree. Nolan is worth having around because of his apparent contributions to the dressing room and team morale. Smith I'd be delighted if we could flog him to anywhere.

I'd be well chuffed if we got De Guzman and Gosling on frees like. 20 and 22? There's room for improvement and development for both of them, exactly the kind of age of players we should be bringing through.

Whip together some suggestions and then poll it.

Aye, basically. Young, free = good.

Can't say I believe that. Tevez is pretty much indispensible to City.

I think Capdevila has been one of your best players this tournament. His pace has slipped a bit recently though.

Could Iniesta do what Xavi does in terms of completely controlling every single game he plays in? I've never seen him have anything other than a great game when he's played in the center. I agree entirely that his best position is central midfield, when he can dovetail with Xavi rather than playing out wide. But even when they do partner each other in midfield they don't play the same roles to the team. Xavi is much more important to the way they play, I've said it before but he runs the show for them in terms of dictating possession and play. Iniesta is a better dribbler and has quicker feet, he has a slightly different skillset, but he couldn't control a game as consistently like Xavi does because I don't think he has anywhere near the same passing range or footballing brain. Iniesta is better in a more advanced midfielder role where his quick feet and incisive passing can be utilised more, while Xavi is better deeper. Iniesta was injured for most of last season, and Barca still won the league. Take Xavi away for that length of time and I don't think they'd cope.

The ball to Villa was nearly perfect. Not that I agree that he's had a bad game, but you can hardly call him 'gash' OK, he's been pretty useless in every match. An awesome player, yes, but there's been some needless fapping over him during the tournament in which he has performed waaayyy under his ability. He's done more than Xavi Yeah, Xavi's f***ing s***. Saying that I think Xavi's done more, more assists for a start. Saying that, I obviously still think both are incredible. Nah, Xavi's good, just can't remember anything of note except simple passes. That's his game man. He's the heartbeat and tempo-setter of the team, he carries them in terms of his possession whether it's simple or adventurous passes. Take away Xavi from that team and they wont look anywhere near the same.

I think the hype will die down about this lad. He has at times looked like one of the best players in the world at this tournament and at others has looked like Fumaca. Seems very hit and miss, he's still young but he isn't worth anything like the reported 30m, although he is better than 3 Albert Luque's so pick the bones out of that Not a chance he'll go for £30 million like, he has only a year left on his contract so Werder don't really have alot of bargaining room.

Didn't Bent get told by the management or something to get rid of his twitter account? Maybe this one is fake...

Another thing about lovely Diego, is there a more two-footed player in World Football?

The pricks ruined every South American he's bought. The way he fucked up Veron and is doing so with Anderson is criminal. He buys these players that quite clearly don't fit into 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 and then they inevitably flop. Anderson was brilliant when he was given freedom as a total AM, running at defences and causing havoc. Now he's just been shoehorned and moulded into a workhorse midfielder.

I fucking love Forlan so fucking much. Player of the tournament. He's carrying this team on his shoulders.

That's internet forums for you. This place is nothing compared to elsewhere in terms of knee-jerkism.

On the Netherlands: 'If they can win their semi and final, they will become only the second team to record a “perfect World Cup campaign” after Brazil in 1970, by winning every qualification and finals match.'
