I just think we need a new #2 striker. I'd still like to see him get gametime at home, but we need somebody more imposing for many of the games. I was being ironic. Lovenkrands is an able squad player who may contribute something from the bench, but we should really be looking for a new striker.

I don't understand why the media are running with this as a 'new rule' that has the likes of Man City panicking. This change has been in place for about 2 years, I'm pretty sure the clubs are well aware and are prepared with which players need to be moved on. The story I read the other day was like, 'New rule stuns City into firesale' or some sensationalist rubbish like that.

Balotelli is class, potentially world class. Terrible attitude, although getting him out of Italy and away from weekly racist abuse should do him some good.

nobody questions the talent. it's the application and desire that have folk wondering. He hasn't even been that bad though. 12 goals and 5 assists in 24 starts last season. Not exactly horrific, plus he contributes more than just stats in terms of bringing other players into play. Definitely not been worth £30 million but he hasn't exactly been terrible. he got that number of starts more so due to his performances than injuries. if any club in the world pays 30mill they should get a player who is an automatic first choice. he isn't and wont be. Meh. I still love him as a player, he's become sound kind of clown figure in the English media like Forlan did. It irks me when that happens.

If there's one Man U player I'd actually like to see do well it's Berbatov. Gets FAR too much stick for a player as talented as him.

Dave, I know blind optimism can be irritating. But you must surely be THE most pessimistic person on this entire board Haha, not really. Like you I'm just expecting nothing. I've been the same with NUFC since I can remember. Hope for the best, expect the worst. I always expect the worst deep down, yet whenever stories like this happen I always let the lingering hope creep in. Modric, Turan etc had me really excited Fuck this club.
