So who the hell should I be comparing Beckford with? Does Carroll not play for us anymore? Why wouldn't I bring him up? I don't know why I bother replying to be honest, everyone on here knows you're crackers, you'd probably have Beckford on the plane to SA ahead of Owen.

Why is this such a bad thing? Carroll and Ranger are able to bring other players into the game. Who cares if Carroll never scores over ten if he's setting up Nolan, Guthrie etc.? You seem to think Beckford will score ten goals in the PL? A league he's never played in (hasn't even played Championship has he?), and yet you don't think Carroll is good enough for the PL, despite the fact that he has played and scored in the PL?

I've just re-read my post and thought it could come across as 'well why was he in the senior squad if he's dump.' I don't mean that. I totally agree Pilko, I think he's crap.

It was under £1m wasn't it? Not that much, not stupid spending anyway.

One little thing that confuses me, which I don't think has been answered, is the limit on investors. Say for example (just making numbers up here!) 50,000 fans/businesses invest enough to buy the club, once the club is bought can anybody then come along and say 'here's £1500 I want in'? Could the amount of investors theoretically reach 100,000+? Because there must be a point when the numbers becoming unworkable? On the other hand it would be a shame if people who can't afford to invest now wouldn't be allowed to stick their cash in at a later date.

Might for one of the cheaper ones. What would be the arrangements though? Would stakeholders get a subforum for their votes etc. ?

First of all, I don't want my post to come across as an attack because I'm fully behind this idea. I do have some gripes though, as has been said in the last few posts there's the problem with everyone putting in £10. I read donations to the trust will be added together to form 1.5k chunks. As binnsy says, surely this will be a nightmare? Who would be the representative for these chunks? I'd be happy to give £20-£40 to just contribute and wouldn't be bothered about having a say but if not everyone agrees with this it would be a nightmare. Secondly, with regard to the election of presidents. Surely here we'd end up with the crap that goes on at Barca and Real elections? Someone will come along promising to sign David Villa (or whatever) just to get everyone on side? I realise the fans can just ignore this bloke and vote for the most suitable but I reckon most the candidates will want to come up with wild claims to get noticed, just like real politics, all style and no substance. In an ideal world we'd give the manager the money he wants and let him do his thing, otherwise there'll be a lack of stability with trophy signings being forced on managers.

Last season he got 3 or 4 assists (something like that anyway), Lampard got the most in the PL with 10. The likes of Ronaldo and Modric only got 6. This season he has 2 already despite already having an injury and missing a few games. So, no, not the worst ratio in football.

Guthrie Premiership quality as in he could probably get in the Hull team? He's been awful this season, yet people don't seem to care. Guthrie has been miles from his best its true, and he's still got 4 assists and 1 goal despite playing in an unfamiliar position. He's easily PL quality, I suppose you're going to say some Scunthorpe midfielder is twice the player he is though?

Power to you if you're totally happy with everything that is going on Edit : We wont win the league Nah, I'm not totally happy about what's going on... especially off the pitch. But on it we're top of the league after not playing great, considering what we were expecting this season it has got to be a great position to be in. Also, funny how people who were logging on to say this season will be a disaster and we might get relegated again can now complain because we're only just top. We don't have good players, so to expect good performances is a bit mad IMO. Results are all that matters at the moment, nothing more will happen until the club is sold and we can rebuild. Thinking about it, the only way some people would be happy is that if we had only perhaps lost once and drawn once, playing superior football to all around us and be 11 points clear after 14 games. 2 or 3 results away from this unrealistic ideal and we are of course s***. To be fair if you can't see the warning signs then football ain't your game. People were saying even during our wins that we didn't look good and knew this sticky patch would come. We're top because half of our squad is still PL players, they may not have shown it last season but individually they are. Unfortunately for us Hughton can't harness their talents and get the team playing well together. I was one of those people saying that we were riding our luck, i was aware that we weren't streets ahead of the opposition and said so. We're top because we have just enough to separate us from the rest. If you think half of our squad are premiership players then maybe football "aint" your game. For me (and i accept we all see it differently) Enrique, Nolan, Smith, Barton, Taylor are. 2 of those are out. Colocinni, Jonas, Guthrie possibly, only one of which has shown enough this season to give me hope. The rest are s****. Oh and Harper possibly. I should have also said half of our first team, not squad, are definitely PL players in view. You listed a fair few players yourself, I reckon most bottom half PL teams would love the likes of Colo, Jonas and Guthrie in the team. Simpson is a good RB at championship level (and fairly solid at PL level I've heard) but just not a CB. I even think more than a couple of PL teams would love the likes of Carroll and Ranger in their squads especially with the crap that the likes of Hull put on the pitch. A fair few of our players last season were woeful which means some have underrated them IMO, we got relegated for the same reason we aren't setting the world alight this one i.e. the fact that we've had crap managers/no stability and as a result no teamwork, organisation or fluidity in our play. Like you say though, we all see it differently, if we were all experts we'd all be coaches.

He still gets way too much stick on here, he played alright yesterday, got better as the game went on like most of our players. People need to make their minds up as well. If you think he's **** then don't be surprised when he is '****' but I think the reason he gets so much stick is because every knows he's a top player on his day. He put in some good crosses yesterday (one for Carroll's header I think? Which should've been a goal), made some decent tackles and beat his man a fair few times, not to mention the fact that only he and Guthrie, of our attacking players, have any vision and so can switch play quite well. He was a bit lazy at the start but no worse than other player, as I say, I just think people have set higher standards for him.

As opposed to a boring place where we all come to say unsupportive things about the club... It's not everyone saying bad things though, that's why there's even an argument in the first place. Most people are just trying to be realistic IMO, in a lot of our games this season (especially the defeats) the positives have been few and far between, it makes sense that a lot of posts will across as negative. As others have said as well, you could already see the losses were going to come, the team was capable of keeping the early season run going but Hughton seems unable to get the team to play together.

Anyway shouldn't the OP's question be: "if you had to...." not "if you could...." if I didn't have to I wouldn't, I don't trust anyone on here to manage a football team.
