Plus the real lack of cash (relatively) compared to the PL big boys. Half these Serie A clubs were nearly bankrupt a few years ago iirc. Could all change in a few seasons. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/7903417.stm That is one of the reasons Juve were linked with Messi ( ) a few months ago. http://www.tuttosport.com/calcio/serie_a/juventus/calciomercato/2009/01/02-13714/Messi+alla+Juve,+un+sogno+possibile

Yeah, I thought that it looked possibly too attacking with Jonas and Duff. In that case I'd rather do it with Jonas in the hole behind Owen and Carrol and have Martins and Viduka on the bench for impact in the Second Half. Possibly with a midfield three of R.Taylor, Butt/Nolan (take your pick) and Guthrie. I'm not 100% on how we played it last year, but we have to explore the possibility of playing that system again as it worked so well against them. Same. Shearer could practically use the same personnel as well though. Barton-Butt-Geremi (07/08) Guthrie-Butt-Geremi (08/09) Those two are fairly similar, IMO, as Guthrie and Barton are fairly matched in terms of mobility and passing ability. Question is whether it would work without Enrique as well.

That's not really how we played last year though. I don't think it would work with Jonas and Duff, last year Beye and Enrique got forward and the midfield was fairly narrow (and defensive) with Butt, Barton and Geremi. Jonas and Duff are too offensive and play with too much width to fit in to that formation, the midfield needs to be defensive minded for it to work, IMO.

When people talk about say look keeping your manager works it s**** really, people mention Arsenal, the fella (Bruce Rioch) before Wegner got just over a year , someone has to get sacked for the right guy to get the job. It is wins & a belief that a club is going in the right direction that keeps managers in jobs not here is 10 or 15 year contract. Yeah I agree with that. Other fans always use that argument against us and I realise there's no point sticking with a manager if he's never gonna be good enough (Fat Sam, IMO) but sticking with Robson was always gonna be a wise choice without the use of hindsight, he was one of the world's best before he joined us.

They're simply pointing out that some Newcastle fans have over egged Robson's regime in hindsight to a ridiculous degree. SBR did well overall but that's not to say there were some pretty crappy runs and woeful players in the team before he struck gold with Bellamy and Robert. Alex Ferguson went 12 games without winning. Rome wasn't built in a day. I think a lot of fanboys seem to want to remember the good couple of years we had under Robson and choose ignore some terrible football before then. My point is if you want to see something special you have to wait, its the case with practically all managers. Moyes almost got Everton relegated, O'Neill took three seasons to sort Villa out, Ferguson, as I said, went on a few terrible runs etc. etc. To get them managers some fucker had to get sacked though. I think out of them listed only Moyes has had a really bad season at them clubs. Ferguson had finishes of 11th and 13th, Robson had two 11th placed finishes. I don't really understand what you're getting at anyway, we shouldn't have stuck with Robson after he finished 11th twice?

Its to illustrate a point. **** me, never mind.

So you'd be happy for the mackems to win in Europe or did you want Boro to win the UEFA cup the other season? Just because Man U etc. play in England doesn't mean ****, half their players aren't even English and any other day of they week they'd be our rivals.
-
The "big four" are not in our league. Because of continual Champions League success.
-
I can't believe so many people want an all English final. You do know this means the teams in our league will get bigger and bigger and richer and richer?
-
This is so true though, if we won the Carling Cup the city would go mental.

Where you born in Nigeria? How come you can't pinpoint your birth date? I can. Just trying to help people born between those dates to save them looking it up. Just kidding mate.

It was his poor defending that allowed Geovanni a free header in the Hull game recently, so lets not cream our pants that he is perfect eh? Very good prospect, but not perfect. And Vidic messed up and let Torres score, did you expect Bassong to be perfect?

Liverpool have scored 23 in their last 7 games (and they haven't scored 4 or 5 in all of them ) At the start of the 94/95 season we scored 27 in our first 7 games.

Are you going to back up this libelous nonsense? I'd be interested to hear this too tbh. I was taking the piss. I'm sure Greg's laughing his head off. it's the old "i'll have a go but if it does work i'll claim was joke"scam. Bingo. Looked blatantly like a joke to me, but I guess everyone's just sticking up for each other.

Shola Ameobi being given a professional contract.

You mean Greg? oldtype made a post that was blatently a joke (and quite funny, IMO) then everyone else jumps on it for no reason. Sad really.

I think we can safely say Viduka will never be one on one with a keeper and it would involving him actually running.
