  1. Barcelona games on Saturday/Sunday evenings are the antidote to Newcastle's games. Sometimes if a squint really hard their shirts do appear black and white sometimes.
  2. this is what i don't get - what do you think we're looking at on our current form, out of interest? Safe, at the moment. http://www.4thegame.com/football-statistics/premiership/tables/currentform.html

    Jonas Gutierrez

Bassong next. He did nearly give a pen anyway today. And look at his goal record its ****** ****.
  4. If anyone wants the proper definition: Ability= innate, determines what skills we can learn and how well we learn them. Skill= learned, stuff like kicking a ball.
  5. Jonas created practically every chance. Still crap though?
  6. Same . At first I thought I wasn't worried because I thought we could sneak a result, now I think its just apathy.
  7. Ketsbaia in. Risky...blah blah blah. But who else would touch us with a bargepole?
  8. What's the record for biggest winning margin in the PL?
  9. Harper in last four games: 5 conceded Given in last four Newcastle games: 12 conceded. There's only one Steve Harper!
  10. If you're honest, he really wasn't, for the last few seasons at least. 39 goals in 77 games in his last three season, but Shola should've should've been in his place if we're honest.
  11. You'll see some quality football at St. James, just not from Newcastle.

    The return of Lawro

Bolton v Newcastle (1300 GMT) Of all the teams in the bottom half, I think Bolton are the best scrappers. Hats off to manager Gary Megson for what he's achieved so far at the Reebok Stadium Newcastle are not particularly impressive on the road and they lack battlers in midfield, especially with Kevin Nolan suspended. I can't see anything but a Bolton win here. Verdict: 2-0 When did Bolton get so good?
  13. Yeah, Llambias said £5-10m of Ashley's own money. So this summer will be £10m + £8m (Given, Zog) + any more sales, hopefully anyway.
  14. Easy access to Page 3 models or something, Joe saw one and had a heart attack.
  15. I always wished that zoggy reached his full potential, now I hate him and hope he fails.

    Players in public

Looks like Habib got the fittest bird, no surprise.
  17. Four average to good players, one with potential. Out of 4 transfer windows, thats a piss poor return really. Only two really, Wise didn't come in until Feb 2008 so we've only had one summer and one winter transfer window with 'the system' in place.
  18. Another way to look at him is his cost to us. Conservatively estimating his wage as £100,000 per week, plus the transfer fee, minus the compensation from the FA comes to a total of around £33million for his services. He's played something like 68 games for us in all competitions (excluding friendlies) & scored 30 goals. Not a bad return in terms of goals to games. But... £33million / 68 games = £485,000 per game £33million / 30 goals = £1,100,000 per goal That's just s***. Owen will have sold shirts, got coporate contracts for the club and attracted other players though, I can't see that effect with someone like Darren Bent. Obviously Owen's wages need to be reduced but I'd be happy to have him at the club for 50/60k a week (i.e. Smith's wages )
  19. My hope is that what Llambias is saying is just a smokescreen to keep some stability until the summer (i.e. not annoy Joe) then in the summer say his health isn't up to it an give him the boot. If Kinnear hadn't taken ill though, I dunno where we'd have been. What I don't get is how Ashley can go from sacking Allardyce because his football was boring, to appointing Kinnear. Hopefully that shows he doesn't really want Kinnear in the long run.
  20. Read the quote again. He is not complaining he says that more needs to be done besides a little price cut to win over supporters which is very true, he didn't mention transfers. If Ashley spends in the summer - it would help. If he doesn't - the reduction in season tickets would have done no good. What is wrong about that? It's the wording though, surely something like this would be better: NUFC announced a reduction in season ticket prices, which despite other notable off field problems is a positive step. However without further investment on playing staff and more signs of ambition this move will be redundant. Obviously I'm not a writer , but those are the same facts reported in a different light.
  21. Its rubbish like this though: "Well, I'm not about to start complaining that reducing exorbitantly priced season tickets is a bad thing at Newcastle United, given we have paid over the knock for years but if Ashley thinks this is enough to keep supporters onside, he is more out of touch than we thought. " Who the **** is saying Ashley thinks this enough, he has said investment will be made in the summer (whether this happens is another thing) so he clearly is thinking about other things than season ticket prices. It's all conjecture basically to put a negative spin on what is a positive move by the club.
  22. Regardless of what you think of the fanzine I don't get how you can say they obviously don't support the team? Why because they are critical of the shambles of whats going on? That does not make them any less of a supporter... Giving up your season ticket will of course be a kick in the teeth for Ashley but it also means less support of the team. I don't think the True Faith lads are going to give up but some of the stuff they are writing seems to be trying to convince everyone else to do so.
