Leicester finished 9th, 5th, 5th, 8th in Maddison's first 4 seasons at Leicester (and won an FA Cup) - to ignore that and put their relegation last season at his and Barnes' door is about as reductive as disregarding Howe's record at Bournemouth other than the relegation season at the end. There were lots of things fundamentally wrong at Leicester last season - well publicised financial issues last summer, Rodgers' methods can eventually stop working as we've seen before, the managerial change was left quite late and was lacklustre, and there was a real imbalance in the squad with lack of nous and leadership towards the end. Maddison has been a standout PL performer for many years now and I personally don't count last season as much of a black mark against him, if at all. Would be delighted if we signed him, and trust Howe would have no issues fitting him in.

Howe won't look for excuses for anything so I'll try to follow suit, my actual disposition means I'd have much preferred an easier start though Any new signings aren't likely to be properly hitting their stride until about October, when we have some kinder fixtures to bed them in fully.

I believed the hype about Sancho based mostly on clips I'd seen of him, rather than that many games. What's the craic with him, is it the Bundesliga illusion at play again? He was the most universally tipped prospect in Europe.

The profile of the players means it's just a new pre-retirement destination that doesn't really impact the major European leagues at all. All 30+, with their best years behind them.

I can see why Spurs fans are pissed off. They seemed on the cusp of something special a few years back and have ruined it with managerial appointments and signings that have left them looking a far worse side. Couldn't tell you whether it is more difficult technically but Almiron's had the ball dropping over his shoulder a la Van Basten, plus he's looped it over the keeper into the top corner which always looks good, plus it's with the outside of his boot from a weird angle. AND you've got the silky play before it including an inch-perfect lobbed pass by Bruno. Maxi's is a comparatively dull volley into the bottom corner that the keeper should have dived at, with no team buildup play to add to its quality. It's a very good goal but Miggy's was far more special, unusual and memorable imo. I'd have been completely unsurprised to see Almiron's as overall GOTS, the first time I saw it live I thought that looks exactly that type of goal because it just stands out. And as much as I love loads of our others I don't think I could say the same about any of them. I think maybe some of our fans (probs not you ) maybe underrate it because they know how one-footed he is, therefore he sort of had to hit it that way because he had no other choice. TLDR - Yeah I really like Almiron's goal and no I can't marry it because I'm already married.

This is exactly it. "Giggs" has its own meaning on here but really it should mean gatecrashing an award you have no right to be given if applying its normal and intended parameters. Guardiola has done a Giggs - it's not an egregious Giggs, it's a mild Giggs, but it's still a Giggs. Giggs.
