  1. Man City weren't even that impressive in the PL overall, by their recent historical standards. Seems like them wanting to recognise 3 titles in a row with this award. It should be an award based on achievements versus how relatively hard the job was, with some additional focus on style and performances. In which case, Howe wins by a landslide.
  2. Nelson placing highly can only be because of context, because it was a last minute winner at a time when Arsenal appeared to be bottling the league, months before they did actually thoroughly bottle the league.
  3. It was a really good goal but like ON says I feel like I've seen plenty similar over the years. Generally GOTS feels a bit more unique, like Wilshire's team goal many years ago, or Giroud's scorpion kick. If it's a blastie with good technique then I'd expect something special in the buildup, or it to be a volley or something, for it to warrant GOTS. Almiron's is definitely a better goal as there are more elements to it and the finish is more unique and memorable.
  4. We had 5 league losses by Game 8 (October 17th) last season
  5. And Isak's vs West Ham was arguably not the best long range hit with the keeper flapping about miles from his line (Wilson again missing out, away vs Spurs). I went for Miggy at Fulham as it had a combination of a ludicrous and unusual finish, a lovely move and a great assist by Bruno.
  6. Cheers, and well done too. I genuinely forgot about FH til last week. Never had another week I was struggling to field at least 9 or 10+ so it never got used.
  7. Should definitely be a best Murphy meme question btw, the options are numerous. Lad's a meme machine. This was definitely mine:
  8. As you can see from my answers, that Spurs home game was streets ahead of anything else imo. Even with their issues, it was fantasy stuff going 5-0 up inside 20 minutes in the manner we did. And the rest of the game we controlled rather than dominated, because there was no need to exert too much energy on doing the latter
  9. Player of the Season: Trippier Most Improved Player of the Season: Almiron Most Disappointing Player: ASM Signing of the Season: Isak Goal of the Season: Almiron at Fulham Assist of the season: Willock to Isak vs Spurs Game of the Season: 6-1 vs Spurs Moment of the Season: Going 5-0 up inside 20 minutes vs Spurs Manager rating out of 10: 10 Season rating out of 10: 9.9 (had a chance to finally finish above Man Utd but that'll come )
  10. Think I won the N-O league 8.7k OR, previous highest ever was 289k
  11. Lewis Hall has a Howe / Ritchie face.
  12. he's always absolutely furious he's not watching 22 robots.
  13. it hits different when he's slagging the opposition instead of us. Fill your boots, Gaz
  14. Not sure if posted, Mags arrive at King's Cross with new entrance music https://fb.watch/kP6zN0sqri/
  15. What's most pleasing about this for me is that during the horrible Ashley years I had an unshakable feeling that the damage he was doing was setting us so far back we would be beyond repair, or that it would take a decade or more. But look where we are off the back of some sensible investment over 18 months. An incredible achievement and one that should make our growth all the quicker. Can't wait for those CL nights next season, I'll be so excited and proud.
  16. Ironically the days of us being a sela club are long gone hahahahaha Alanis Morissette
  17. My dad must have died at a similar time. July 2016. He was also football, but mainly NUFC-obsessed. Me and my brothers took him to one last match while he was well enough in December 2016, it was a dull as dishwater 0-0 at home vs Everton until we lost it 0-1 with the last kick of the game And I will always treasure being able to go up and watch pretty much every Euro 2016 match with him at home, finally being sober after my problems with alcohol had wildly escalated in the prior months / years. Was able to be a good son without chasing a drink. England got knocked out by Iceland that year He would have been absolutely buzzing with what has happened at Newcastle (and to a lesser extent in recent years England) which crosses my mind often and gives everything a bittersweet tinge. There's no uplifting note to end this on, it's just a real shame that Ashley took this stuff away from us. Savour these moments with those you're close with.
  18. It's really difficult because different players have stepped up at different times in the season. Went for Trippier for everything he gives us, on and off the pitch. He's helped transform the mentality at the club and we'd miss him more than anyone else if he wasn't in the side.
  19. Liverpool just can't catch a break this season.
  20. someone got paid loads to design that.
