I'm still pretty positive, mainly due to the gap being fairly small still. My main concern atm is whether we have signings lined up for early January or if that's going to drag on through the month. Also the quality we're able to attract, obviously. Say we bring in 5 players then you can probably assume 1 or 2 aren't going to be huge hits, therefore we really need to maximise the marginal gains we'll get from the others. And that includes the extra few weeks we'd get by signing them early.

7. Cos it's not even December. Sunderland were 7 points adrift that season with 6 games left, most of them nightmare fixtures. We're 6 off with 24 games left, a new manager, a new positivity, everyone pulling in the same direction, and money to spend in January. We might go down, we might not. The only thing that's certain is that nowt is certain yet. Anyone saying 10 or whatever is daft / hysterical / a lifelong inhabitant of Planet Soft Cunt. You'd think a lifetime supporting this basket case club might toughen you up a bit.

He fought Ashley's corner, enabling the dismantling of our once great football club - same as Bruce and others before him. Good riddance to the pathetic little wanker.

Absolute fucking typical Newcastle. Welcome Eddie, this sort of thing happens a lot

Yeah I was quite surprised by the pool of available managers when we were searching really. I do think our appointment is far less risky though, Howe started managing in 2009 and had a very small club doing well in the PL for 5 seasons. Think his appointment is a bit of a coup and people's opinions of him have been disproportionately affected by the relegation and the 18 months he's been away from the game.

Can see why Gerrard has gone there - big club, good squad, money available. Not so sure from Villa's POV, agree with those saying it's a bit of a gamble.

What is your forte?

I'm happy with it as it gives Howe more time to work with (most of) the players. Gives him a better chance of a good start and we need that desperately.
