  1. I love the idea that Liverpool hold any kind of power in this situation. We could take him or leave him, who cares. No chance we'll get the raw end of the deal.
  2. Can just imagine a few posters waking up, reading the thread title and just pulling a sickie and going straight back to bed.
  3. I'll only believe that when we make a bid for Enrique as second choice goalkeeper.
  4. Exactly, same goes for Coloccini when people quite rightly say he's been our best player for 3 years on the bounce. You can only beat what's in front of you and Carroll was murdering defences for around 12 months.
  5. Yeah, I thought he was excellent in that second half of the Championship season, can specifically remember thinking that he wasn't much cop before Christmas (although tbf it was his first real run of games for the club), improved massively after Christmas and basically carried on and improved on that form in the Premier League. Not only did I think that his overall game was coming on a lot but the quality of goals he was scoring was going up as well. I really don't think we're talking about 4 months of good form here, I think that's very harsh - it's more like about a year's very good form as a very young player. Move didn't work out for him, it became clear quite quickly that if he was going to make a success of himself then it wouldn't be at Liverpool. He's still only 23, at 23 Alan Shearer was coming back from setbacks of his own (in this case injuries) and hadn't really proved a great deal himself.
  6. This long ball stuff. It's just like when Spurs used to play long ball whenever Crouch was in the side. It's a myth man. The points about 4-3-3 vs 4-4-2 are of course more valid but I'm with those that are saying there will potentially be a hell of a lot of games next season.
  7. Wouldn't completely shock me like, if they think he can play a big part in keeping them up then it's not too bad a deal for them.
  8. Obertan says hello. His name crossed my mind as I was typing for some reason. What do you say that though, is the view that Carr wasn't involved in his signing or are you saying that he doesn't get it right all the time?
  9. As a side note I'd be interested to know what Carr thought of Carroll as a player, you'd like to think we don't make offers without his input at this stage.
  10. We're better now though, he wouldn't be coming back as a guaranteed starter for a start. I can see the argument for perhaps getting better value for money elsewhere. However I don't know, maybe I rated his performances for us more highly than those saying they'd never have him back, I just thought he was looking ace for us before he left and could see him coming here and doing a job. Plus a loan with a view to a permanent deal surely suits us down to the ground, it might even delay / eliminate the desire for us to get rid of one of our better players for big money soon.
  11. If they turn that £35m loss into a £20m loss or whatever then it's still terrible but it's obviously not so bad. Isn't exactly a queue of clubs willing to give them their money back.
  12. Maybe i have missed something as the post are coming fast and furious and i am skim reading them. What stops Liverpool from taking him back after the season if he does amazing and selling him on to another club for a bigger fee than arranged with us? or is that not an option? I think a lot of these loans with an option to buy have a fixed fee at the end of it where the loaning club gets first option. Might be wrong, just seems to ring a bell. If so then that would be a good deal for us but if not then I'd share you concerns.
  13. Can't believe people don't think he has more to his game than this after seeing such a vast improvement in his overall game in the space of 12 months with us. As me and a few others said at the time, it was probably the steepest improvement I've ever seen in a player within that amount of time. He's gone backwards a bit now of course, but he's still young. His all round game during those 12 months (call it a purple patch if you like, whatever) was outstanding, he was arguably the best striker in the league before Christmas in our first season back up and he was looking like a total world beater.
  14. I was against the loan idea to begin with but if we could get him back for a year and have an agreement that we get him for a certain fee then it's a good deal - if he does well then great let's have him for less than half of what we sold him for, if he bombs then he's Liverpool's expensive problem again.
  15. Thanks Dave, £13m does seem a bit high considering how far his stock has fallen but considering his potential, his nationality and the fact he's been up here and scored goals already then it's not really that bad. Would prefer to pay no more than £10m but the guy will have re-sale value and Ashley will know this. If he comes back and does moderately well then a Stoke or a Villa will probably pay canny money for him if we want to offload for whatever reason. I'm more concerned about his wages and whether he'll get in a strop at having to be on the bench regularly. Also can't help thinking that Tiote or someone is away if we're willing to spend £20m on Carroll and Debuchy and perhaps another £10m on additional signings, but I have faith in our ability to replace adequately.
  16. Seriously can't be arsed to read the last 15 pages, can anyone offer a summary? More details of the deal? Any N-O meltdowns yet?

No, it was when we signed Seb Larson. Can't even spell his name right. Tell me, why did you sign up on here? And how did you end up with a Sky.com email address? I just wanted to be involved, is this a local forum for local people, or can anyone join in ? I wish N-O had a 3 foreigners rule. Alas no, cosmopolitan as fuck unfortunately.
  19. The Giggs thing's definitely got out of hand now like, there's no stopping it.
  20. But are any pre-season friendlies really "must-win"? I'd still trot out mostly youngsters against Monaco. Aye couldn't give a fuck if we won or lost tbh, it's a run out. Learn from the Germans.
  21. Even more must-win than the last one, especially considering we didn't win that one, which we surely should have done given that it was a must-win. Must-win.
