  1. Yep, still gutted. Such a horrible and staggering thing to happen. Won't forget that awful day in a hurry, can remember walking up to get some shopping before the first match kicked off that day and being in a real daze.
  2. Every time I see this guy's name I get "Mariappa, Marriappa, Mariappa, Bo!" in my head, like that Ayia Napa thing.
  3. I'm asking that question because we're one injury away from playing James Perch and two injuries away from another Norwich-type debacle. I'm more than willing to cut them a bit of slack and was especially delighted with the signing of Cisse, but they're really neglecting that area of the squad for the sake of a few quid that we may end up losing in lost revenue for finishing a few places further down the table. It's another gamble basically. If we sign someone then fair play but if we don't then I don't think it's anything to be so casual about personally. There's no point ripping your hair out but it's a big concern.
  4. I think it'll be Chelsea once they tie up the deal for this Belgian lad.
  5. Will you be saying that if Coloccini picks up a serious injury?
  6. I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we'd sign a centre half for £15m if we thought he was worth £20m and would potentially have a high resale value. It really seems like that's the main priority above all else when in actual fact it would just be nice to plug a gap until the end of the season.
  7. I don't think needs of the squad are secondary, I just think they won't buy someone unless he's good value. Value being the primary concern and the needs of the squad therefore being secondary? I'm not expecting us to spunk up millions on anyone but going into the remainder of the season with just the 2 centre halves is a huge gamble that's being made because they put driving a hard bargain above the needs of the squad.
  8. I think getting someone for less than their market value is all that matters to them. Needs of the squad are secondary. The CB situation's a concern, just have to hope we get away with it.
  9. When was the last time we signed someone on deadline day? Leon Best?

It's definitely very funny this like - he's not getting in the side of a team 7 places below them, he's old, he's always been hugely limited anyway.
  11. Seems ridiculous that the window shuts tomorrow, almost nothing's happned.
  12. Not really, I think they bought him from Italian minnows AC Milan.
  13. The thing is that if he'd had a good World Cup and ended up being a good player that we got for just £3.5m then it would have looked like a masterstroke.
  14. Actually yeah, he wasn't that great during the World Cup. Guess that was a bad example then. Pretty sure we'd agreed a deal to sign him before a ball was kicked in that World Cup. Can remember watching helplessly as he scored no goals for the best national side on the planet.

bollocks man, had they avoided relgation on goal diff but found a benefactor that would do what roman done,,,,you don't think mourinho would be interested ? I don't think he'd go anywhere near it. You're over-simplifying it. Money's been one of the factors with the jobs he's taken, not the sole factor.

I'm willing to concede that Mourinho would manage Wigan but not before they'd been built up to be a consistent top 6 club over a number of years. Which kind of makes my "Man City = fairly big club" argument a bit redundant, but not really as they'd have a huge head start over Wigan in attracting that kind of manager.

You honestly think Mourinho would ever go to Wigan?

I couldn't work out whether you were serious about Senegal the other day, not any more. Is it serious though? Haven't read the Senegal stuff I think. Surely he can't be serious. He's taking the piss, or at least I think he is.

Agree, plus Man City's history and standing is streets ahead of Wigan's.

Nobody has said they were a no mark club, they had just finished 4 places higher up the league than we currently are. But Wigan are a no mark club which is sort of the point.
