The FA, and Premier League don’t give a single fuck about the fans. As I say, this is the start of them ramping up why it needs to happen. The Premier League have already played their part in going 6 years or more in not agreeing a deal with the EFL for distribution of funds. They’ll use this as a way of levering the EFL clubs and saying they will be saving them. The FA will be happy with the Premier League potentially having play off finals and North vs South games at Wembley.

Do they? They have a net spend of £131m. They have less allowance to spend than other clubs because of spending the previous 2 years in the Championship which allows you much less PSR headroom. Their total commercial revenue to their last set of full accounts was only about £35m. Okay they will sell players and make profits, but the money to buy replacements will now cost more and they’ll likely have more competition. I’m a firm believer that the buy them cheap, sell them at a premium model doesn’t work long term, and yes I expect the likes of Brighton and Brentford to eventually see their downfall. In saying this the have so far had an excellent season, far better than what anyone could have hoped for. To keep it going I honestly think they should just keep the majority of their players for a few years, adding say only 1 or 2 key players per season.

Rodgers is not going back. He’ll be getting paid more than what he was on at Celtic and more than what Celtic will be willing to pay. The Celtic board also are not fucking interested in giving him what he wants or what Celtic need. They want to win the league for as cheap as it will cost. They don’t care about Europe so long as they get into the Champions League, league phase more often than not to pick up their money. They are not interested in making Celtic Park look decent, so long as those Ryanair flights are dropping loads of Irish people in on match day.
