  1. But he only plays for Newcastle. He must want to go to a big club.
  2. Shola has done it all before. Get him a few starts for the remaining games, we're guaranteed Champions League.
  3. Indeed if you cant beat Wigan in your run in then quite frankly you dont deserve 4th, to me the key game is still Chelsea away if we get a result there i reckon the confidence and belief will carry us through. I suppose "United" don't deserve to win the league either? Not if they'd played like that all season.
  4. If City are out of it by that point I can see us picking up points.
  5. John Barnes is possibly the worst pundit on TV.
  6. Exactly this. It's relevant not because we're being negative but because this is the policy now. There are very few I would sell without first having secured a replacement and I would want inflated prices but, as mentioned, at our club everyone has a price. That's before you consider want away players. It's the reality of the situation.
  7. Utility player, can deliver the ball, has played some excellent games this season scoring from left back. English premium. He could fetch 5m.
  8. I thought Guthrie's contract had been sorted? If not then that one might need revising down. Stand by the rest. Colo is our captain, proven quality, cost us a bomb, I wouldn't see him going for any less. Tiote is volatile and somewhat limited. Taylor is a better footballer and more versatile than Simpson.
  9. Fixed. Note this is what I think they'd go for, not what I'd personally want before selling them. Our most valuable asset is easily Tim Krul closely followed by Cisse and Ben Arfa. This is all guess work, really, as a lot will also depend on whether or not the player in question wants to leave. Also depends on when the bid comes in and what cover we have.
  10. And there was no one else anywhere near him
  11. Against the run of play, tbh. Still fancy Fulham getting a point if not all three. Apparently they can pull out a decent second half performance at home :'(
  12. Is Lennon back to being match fit yet?
  13. You're missing the point. Try reading it again. Nope, you have. Oh, alright then. I didn't realise. Let's lock the thread.

  15. Players are not simply good or shit. They all have their attributes, and if they're playing at the highest level then they have some positives about their footballing ability. Some will have pace, some a good touch, etc. You can't just write off every player in the lower teams, it's moronic. We're probably not going to pick up the next Messi by raiding the relegation sides, granted. That said, if we know what we're looking for we can make an incremental improvement on what we already have. Danny Simpson isn't a world beater, is there someone amongst those teams that's stronger in that position than him? What are their flaws? Are they more of a risk because of them? Simpson has done a job for us despite his limitations. Same can be said for Routledge when in the championship, Obertan this season. This is what we do now. Where we can't afford/find quality, we find someone that's good enough to paper over the cracks until that quality player becomes available at the right price. Lovenkrands, Carroll, Simpson, Sibierski, etc. Is there a relegation player whose passing might help out our system? Someone who has physicality that could change the way we play in one area of the pitch? If you genuinely can't see anyone down there that what offer an incremental improvement or offer us something different, or provide us cover in an area that we're weak, then fair enough. But personally, I think you're not looking hard enough. Of course, buying from abroad is already an option. Maybe we can find something better and cheaper. I'm all for that. But, with relegation comes financial problems. Teams are often ok letting players go at cut down fees to get them off the wage bill. We might get a bargain.
  16. DC 0-0 Sounders I have absolutely no idea how Roger Levesque is employed as a professional footballer. There's still hope for me yet. 'Big names' De Rosario and Montero both looking pretty toothless. Glad I didn't sit through the whole thing.
  17. 100% agree. Of course we would. That's what we do: buy on the cheap, get some performances out of them, sell for a profit. The guy still has potential, just needs to get back in the habit of having a night in once in a while. whether or not he'd have the right frame of mind to do that is another question. Personally, I wouldn't want him anyway, but away from Liverpool, in the right environment, with a renewed focus he could be a quality player. After really stepping up and improving rapidly when we gave him an opportunity he seems to have gone to Liverpool and not improved in the slightest. With that in mind, I think the right thing for Liverpool to do would be to loan him out. - Liverpool get him off the wage bill without having to admit defeat and take huge losses. - Carroll gets the games he needs (presumably) with less of a spotlight as well as having to take on board the "it's not working out" message, which will hopefully spur him on to get better. - Some third rate Prem team gets a beast of a workhorse on the cheap - that just isn't us.

    Papiss Cissé

The exact opposite of Shola then. Shola earns his wages against the Mackems, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Play him twice a season for all I care. Worth every penny.

You sure? looks legit just looking at it...... oh well i been fooled The main sign that points to the account being fake is the lack of NUFC players following him. Plus some of the written French is a bit suspect. I thought the Danny Simpson account was fake because some of the English was a bit suspect. Turned out to be genuine.
  20. Exactly. A tenner today is more valuable than a tenner spread over three years. I'm not sure it's that simple. With interest payments and higher transfer fees I imagine that paying by installments is lucrative and actually preferable for clubs that don't need the money up front. I'm almost certain interest payments are rare in football. Based on what? I'd always assumed they'd be the norm. I wouldn't be too keen on deferring a multi-million pound payment and not having any compensation for lost interest.
