Seriously, last year of his contract at a relegated club, £15m is a HUGE ask. He might justify a £15m fee if he had two or three years left, but only one? £15m would get you far more than that outside of English football.
  3. So it's daft to panic now, but in a few days we can  Typo, 'weeks'.

Only one year left on his contact, no? Not worth £15m in that instance, TV money or not.

  9. Fucking hell Tranmere The football kit equivalent to losing your girlfriend (football league status in this instance) and just completely and utterly letting yourself go. Grotesque.

Things were going well until this thread came along and ruined everything...
  11. We do need a Spanish Riviere like
  12. What if we do that and Willo leaps like a salmon and burries it into the corner to seal a 7-0 win in our opening game, away to sunderland.

Clearly knows he's found his level.

    Steve McClaren

I was a minor advocate of McClaren anyway but I'm convinced he's responsible for the club seeing the back of those tits. Fair play.

    Steve McClaren

I'd take someone uninspiring who might actually be pretty good than someone who is exciting but ends up being s****. Sanchez Flores isn't any better than McClaren at all, anyone suggesting otherwise clearly just going by name and nationality. If McClaren was a French coach with an identical record there'd be far more support for him on here. Because people would know less about him and the unknown offers a little excitement. But we do know about McClaren and his very mixed management record and the poor quality of football he has historically employed. Absolutely, I was excited for both Dalglish and Gullit. Look how those turned out. Regards to McClaren's football, did you watch much of Derby last season, or the season before?

Because some div who flirts with clubs way above his level in every transfer window says he's never heard of him? We signed Ben Arfa under Chris Hughton for goodness sake.

  18. All that for a kit launch. We're definitely in 2015.
  19. What makes anyone think he's going to have a say in transfers!? Surely we know how it works by now for God sake P.S. Like the look of Will Hughes & Jeff Hendrick myself

Like how he had Bamford out wide to accommodate his target man? To accommodate a better football player first and foremost, one of their players. Not a loanee.

I won't class Derby as a failure . He has left them in a better position he found them although he should have at least made the playoffs. Even the highly regarded managers in England have had blips in their career Pochettino in his last season at Espanyol, Koeman at Valencia who was sacked despite winning a trophy in the same season, Martinez relegating Wigan etc.. .As a manager who has never relegated a team I'd say it's more of a risk for him managing us then us appointing him, given our league performances in the past 3 seasons and the resources he will work with . Derby were 10th the season before he took over and were 8th when he was sacked. Not exactly left them massively up the table after two years. I'd say his time at Derby wasn't a failure but it wasn't really a success either. Manager's do have blips but McClaren has more failure than success. He's not a tragedy of a manager, but his record does not qualify him to manage a club like Newcastle. The fact that it's been a decade since a Premier League club has given him a job surely emphasises this. It does sound bad the way you're stating it but when you look in detail they finished 1 point less than the 5th and 14 points better than the 10th team. That gives a better idea of their progress than only their league position. Not to mention their style of play...DCFC forums have all been saying he's had them playing the best stuff they'd seen for years.
