They're not anymore. Emanuele Calaio (Parma striker) sent a couple of WhatsApps to Spezia players saying something along the lines of "go easy on Friday" in relation to the final game of the season (against Spezia).
Basically it was out of Parma's hands anyway, they needed to beat Spezia and hope that Frosinone didn't win at home to Foggia. I won't get into the late drama but Parma won 2-0 and Frosinone could only draw 2-2 so Parma gained automatic promotion. Then it came out about these messages. Calaio got a fucking two year ban (!) and a €30,000 fine and Parma were docked five points and given a €30,000 fine. It was complete bullshit from the start really. Naturally, Parma appealed and it was overturned last week. Calaio's ban was reduced to 6 months and his fine remained. Parma's docked points were wiped and their fine also remained. Crooked that it was overturned but fines still remained. Italian football though...
