linked with Man Utd in the mirror for £20m plus.

not often you see just a straight swap of players.

I have some sympathy with this, but nobody is making the obvious point that the home team get an extra 30 minutes at their home ground, in front of their own fans. It doesn't seem a totally unreasonable trade-off. kinda agree with this and the league cups idea's of only using it in extra time to try and get some kind of result is fair enough imho

and all that will be conveniently swept under the carpet and ignored along with their own reports on the country which recommended against going there and the numerous less than pleasant laws on the books there its all to bring more qutar cash into fifa delegates pockets. Fucking sick of the same corrupt shit over and over again from them and they act above the law -
Evra is on the decline and needs replacing sooner rather than later.
-
if he turns out as good as is expected then he could be the left back for them for at least 10 years and lord knows Evra needs replacing
-
its more the statement of intent for me, sends the signal that the new chairman can get big deals "over the line", the Glazers will spend money and Moyes can attract big players.
-
nonsense but lord knows the clubs done worse in the past

bit daft really imho. The real problem when hosting isn't so much the lack of competitive game time, hosts normally do fairly well in tournaments regardless of that its the ranking points dip thats really the kicker and this doesn't really solve that issue. -
pretty much my thinking plus, ultimately Cabaye knows barring injury/suspension he will be playing every week and why risk that with 6 months to a world cup if he takes time to settle in a new club and form dips. He's also likely to be able to get a better deal for himself if he plays well at the world cup and moves after that.

Man Utd officially confirm Mata move subject to medical.

Jesus Christ Seriously, how far do you have to be up Alan Pardews arse to post this sentence with a straight face? It's a reasonable question. I think we'd struggle to find a better manager who would work under the restrictions placed on Pardew and meet Ashley's liking. "Restrictions". There'd be tons of managers who'd give their right bollock to work with that squad and manage the players we've signed the last 3-4 years. many would but they're ones all at clubs with tight finances or in lower leagues that doesn't actually mean a better manager would want to work for Ashley.

power of the old money in football, no matter what happens in the short term the sheer (for lack of a better term) "brand name value" of a Man United, Liverpool and looking elsewhere in Europe Juventus, AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will always bounce back in the long term.

He's not whining about selling a player to Man Utd though.... he's whining about selling a player in January after Chelsea had played Man Utd twice already and Man Utd still have to play Arsenal etc etc. He's had a long standing issue with this, he complained about us signing Mapou, Debuchy etc etc and how its unfair to the competition who had yet to play us twice. Also Pellegrini has moaned about this exact issue since Wenger did so he's not the only one. in a word tough, theres nothing stopping him signing someone new to help lift them up to the title other than his own ridiculous stubbornness. Really can't stand moaning like this, its the same fucking rules for everyone stop whining and get on with trying to win football matchs.

ah the final week of a transfer window where frustration turns to anger which only increases in size until the window shuts. Bring back the old system I say
-
urgh, vile paper
-
why send 2 defenders and an 18 year old in your first 5 pen takers? thats poor management
-
they have to win it for that
-
Aye, inexplicable how he hardly features anymore. Mourinho's thinking here is pretty much idiotic. Doesn't defend first, attack second and isn't big, strong or fast enough to play on the counter. Pretty much how Mourinho rolls. No surprise, the only anomoly being his thing at Madrid in that he kept picking Ozil (even if he never finished a game). I swear Mourinho never used to be as defensive minded as he has been the last few years or so. Guess the players he had at his disposal at his previous clubs disguised his true colours. you do remember his first spell at Chelsea right? or the entire spell at inter in particular vs barca
-
assume he's cup tied in CL too so can't play them if they meet there. Still I'd equate it to Ozil transfer at Arsenal, regardless of how he does on the pitch it sends the message out that moyes can get one of the worlds best players and that the glazers will spend big when they need to.
-
well that killed a few brain cells
-
Ligue 1 maybe shit but PSG are decent contenders for CL and some of the worlds best players playing for them and its home. The nicely sized pay packet won't hurt either

I think the key problem has been Ferdinand Evra and Vidic, they need the most replacing but either the replacements aren't there (Evra) or they simply haven't shown they're even fit to lace the boots of the older players (Jones and Smalling)
