tbh I'm not so sure its all that uncommon a view among managers and owners in England, few sides have ever bothered to take it seriously, its just perceived as getting in the way since it doesn't have the financial rewards to really make it worthwhile see also cups; FA and League

Graeme Bailey @GraemeBailey 47s We are hearing Hull have agreed deals with Spurs for Tom Huddlestone (perm) and Jake Livermore (loan).

Some how I don't think he's that bothered lol. Comes across as one of those types who cut their own nose off to spite their face. I think he's embarrassed and was trying to cover his arse - ""The most logical solution would be for us to all return to a little humility in relation to what was said, and hope that he may extend by a year." What does he mean by "extend by a year". Extend what? I'd assume his contract Wouldn't that be ridiculous considering he has only one year left? Extend by another year, come the end of next season they will be back exactly where they are now. yeah but right now unless something drastic changes in the next few weeks he's looking at losing an £8m asset (based on the offer we put in) for potentially nothing come Jan Which is why his statement is even more baffling. Why would Gomis sign an extension now, come January he can set up a free transfer for the summer. Meaning bigger sign on fee , more money for him and his agent. bullshitting grandstanding from Aulas, he seems to be a master of it. This will no doubt end up "revived" approaching deadline day as Aulas realises just how much €€€ he's about to lose

Qpr still dishing out the big wage packets? Have they not learned. clearly not, could go horribly wrong if they don't go straight back up and they haven't exactly impressed in their first 2 games against meh opposition
-
I do hope someone gets a pre contract with him in Jan just to rub it in on the senile fool
-
apparently scott parkers on his way to QPR

theres very few managers about these days who don't do exactly what they're told by the owner above. One of the last who could realistically challenged the owners was Fergie and even he went out of his way to praise the Glazers despite general disgust for them in the supporters. Wengers about the only one left who could challenge his "boss" now but even he doesn't for whatever reason.

Could argue that happened to SBR. The Window when we only signed Bowyer Speed sold without his prior knowledge Sacked after finishing the season before in 5th. We were a totally different club with ambition then. The Bowyer summer was the exception, never the rule. Plus, who did we attract then? The worst manager in recent NUFC history. I reckon Pardew has a worst win % Win % can be a problematic way to assess managers. Especially if it shows them in a worst light than you want them to its one way of assessing managers but doesn't tell the whole story such as resources available (Keegan in first era compared to himself 2nd time around or Pardew now for example) and there has to be a footnote for Hughtons win % since a large number of those were in the 2nd tier. Plus take into account respective positions when they took over, Souness for example took over a side that had finished in the european positions including champions league spots for a few seasons and destroyed that side. Pardew took over a newly promoted side.

Really ? Isn't there a widely held belief in football that Pardew has handled Ben Arfa better than any of his previous coaches and that they they enjoy a good relationship ? I'd like Hans to say what was this horrific treatment? Not throwing him in the moment he was fit and easing him back after he recovered from a horrific long term injury?

http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/agents-reveal-culture-of-backhanders-to-middle-men-thats-now-commonplace-in-british-football-29489617.html well worth a read for a look into just what a bunch of scumbags most players are listening to

expecting us to finish 5th in out second season back post relegation was a bit much tbf, in theory the club should be up in and around that area but theory and reality are often very different things in football outside the champions league places.

Manchester City vs. Newcastle United - 19/08/13 @ 8pm (Sky Sports 1)
jdckelly replied to Elliottman's topic in Football
we seem to developed a mental block about City in particular and not just Pardew going way back even before they got rich we just did shite against them while we've been the rest of those in recent times. Can't see anything but a home win but who knows maybe we'll catch them off guard as they try to settle new players into the prem -
depends, its a great achievement but the route to the final while not easy didn't have any of the big boys along the way for West Ham while maintaining enough form to finish in 5th over a season isn't easy (even if there was a bit of luck in the collapse of Chelsea that season) and throw in a squad with a good first 11 but not much behind it, its all the more impressive.
-
had it last year for the commentary of the games, which didn't work half the time or cut itself out so didn't bother renewing. Not worth the price they want

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition
jdckelly replied to OzzieMandias's topic in Football
so its the FA vs the Premier League, good lucking winning that one FA you'll need it since you need them way more than they need you -
I'll probably end up editing this as I prefer to give final predictions closer to games in case of injury etc so I can make the best scientific judgement possible-I'm just not very good at the whole judgement thing GW1: Liverpool 2 v 0 Stoke City Arsenal 2 v 1 Aston Villa Norwich 2 v 1 Everton Sunderland 1 v 2 Fulham West Brom 2 v 2 Southampton West Ham 2 v 0 Cardiff City Swansea 2 v 1 Man Utd Crystal Palace 0 v 5 Tottenham Chelsea 3 v 0 Hull City Man City 3 v 0 Newcastle Chelsea 3 v 0 Aston Villa

Off to West Ham apparently
-
this one will end up going to the deadline I'd say
-
may be as simple as Blanc wants him but PSG aren't listening to his opinion on signings
-
I would get angry over his comments but instead I remember he'll be sacked as soon as theres the hint of Wenger being available
-
never mind Arsenal win one tie and they're in the champions league again
