well that bubble of optimism lasted, wonder who he's going to blame today and how many players he'll want tomorrow
  4. That's a woeful team for Moyes to field. Full strength aside from a suspended Rafael and an unsettled Rooney. Giggs is seriously still first choice?

  6. I'm getting it for nothing yes but you are in some fashion paying Micheal Owens wage so think on that! (assume you have bt broadband or some similar s***) I'm with Virgin Media mate, don't think i'm contributing anything to BT your're paying Virgin, they're paying BT and they are paying Owen so In that sense so are you? Do you have a phone in your house?, if so the line rental ultimately goes to BT, if it's Virgin then think of the comment you made above. I'm living in Ireland

he'll be a big miss. Would comment on losing 3 of your best players at once being bad but we did it with Carroll (ok 6 months earlier) Nolan Barton and Enrique going fairly quickly

in theory it works but in reality players are spoiled babies who will throw a hissy fit at criticism (public criticism in particular) and when the players decide to say screw you to the manager and stop trying for him its turns out managers are a lot easier to replace than a squad full of expensive footballers. Don't really recall any instance of a manager so publicly hammering his players past and present as Di Canio, Fergie for example almost never did it (if ever don't recall any off the top of my head) whatever he was saying to them behind closed doors he would defend them to the hilt when talking to the media including making shit up about refs to bring attention onto him and his ridiculousness to distract from poor performances. Can't see Di Canio's "look at me and how great I am its all me not those incompetents on the pitch all me"/"it would have worked great except for those idiots not doing exactly what I say and its clearly not my fault" really working long term.
  13. Someone should put together a list of where all the major pundits and columnists think we'll finish and see what the average comes out at. Hint nudge. Fine here's some, other people find more Guardian 12th Robbie Savage 14th (because of french players is his reason) Simon Bird 10th Phil McNulty 12th FourFourTwo 13th
  14. After their first defeat probably. He was going off it about a friendly ffs! Or when we beat them 0-6 at the SoS... on which was it just me or did I not here much about friendlies for them this summer? Can only remember that Asia tournement and the one where he went off on one. Seems odd
  15. Not sure they ever played together at Spurs. Think Berbatov had left by then. Think it was Keane he said couldn't play with Bent. nope bent played a season with Berbatov
  16. Good to see the window licker Ryder blindly defending nufc by claiming bent was begging us rather than the far more likely vice versa
  17. Who have they bought? i know they have submitted a lot of big offers but a lot of rejections it seems. Caulker 8M Cornelius 8M Medel 11M I think that's about it ?! I don't know much about this Cornelius fellow, but otherwise it's a rather unspectacular return for such an expenditure. Young Danish striker that had a break-through season last year. Displaced Bendtner in NT (following his ban), and could be this year's Benteke. FC Kobenhavn are bottom of Danish league now, after his sale firstly thats hardly much of an achievement considering how god awful he is and he's only played what 50 senior matchs? awful lot of cash for that and a huge amount of pressure on him to score the goals to keep them up. Medels a good player but mental, caulkers a good buy though
  18. you know from stories like that one in the mag he does sound like a decent bloke beneath all the bullshit around this appointment and the fact he's woefully underqualified

    Alan Pardew

agreed they lacked something for dealing with the physicality of the league but thats why I'd be prepared to be patient, theres a long history of players needing a season or 2 to adapt to the prem and they've only really had 1 (marveaux's first season doesn't count due to lack of game time because of injury)

    Alan Pardew

tbh I'm not so sure its all that uncommon a view among managers and owners in England, few sides have ever bothered to take it seriously, its just perceived as getting in the way since it doesn't have the financial rewards to really make it worthwhile see also cups; FA and League Go look up Laudrup's recent quotes on the Europa league. He was pushing it as giving his team an advantage for the start of the season. Just a completely different mindset i.e. a positive one! Besides even if Pardew feels that way, as the manager of the football club, he should never openly say that. It's awful. People keep saying the cup isn't taken seriously, but the players and fans don't feel this way. If Newcastle won it, it would be a huge deal. He just can't say that crap. Pardew was positive about it early on too, story changed once he got into the Thursday Sunday routine, we'll see how long Laudrup keeps up the positive attitude or how long until a few defeats post european games and the europa excuse is being reached for. Remember all managers everywhere on the planet are going to reach for convenient excuses or if all else fails make one up about the ref
  21. apparently the racist cannibal is now going to stay "because of the support of the liverpool fans blah blah blah" and even get a shiny new contract (with a large pay rise no doubt and in big bold letters I get out if we dont get to CL at this price)
  22. switched out Diame for Redmond, Bale for Carzola and with the change from that Agbonlahor for Benteke
