  1. yeah probably, still would have to transfer the money and whatever final bits of legal corporate stuff that needs doing and why bother announcing anything until its all done and dusted not like theres a big rush atm
  2. He’s taken a club from dying on its arse near the bottom of the 4th tier, to a respectable lower mid-table Premier League team who play good football. It’s going against him a bit this season but he’s been class imo. Could be a case of being there for too long, most managers (with a few obvious exceptions) do have a shelf life at a club where the same methods just don't work as well anymore
  3. Truly the pits. Awful post. Only when she takes it up with Uber, Disney and Facebook then she can have the green light for a go at us. Whole thing stinks of Qatari influence tbqh. I have to agree with this, it's getting sad and desperate on her part now. It feels, for me, like she's overly focusing on one area of Saudi investment to the point of fanaticism, possibly on behalf of someone else's agenda. Sending repeated requests to the FA isn't on, the first should have been enough for them to consider it. That said, I guess I'm a bit black and white (if you'll excuse the pun), in that my thinking is while her plight may be upsetting for her, it doesn't concern me. I'm honest enough to admit that and I'd rather have all the pluses of the Saudis buying the Toon and investing in the area than worry about whether a guy whose background nobody knows fully, who may or may not have been killed on a direct order from a national head of state, to which there isn't actually any proven, hard evidence (perhaps for obvious reasons). Sorry, but that's just how I feel about it, does it make me a bad person? I don't think so, maybe in the eyes of some and that's their prerogative. In the mean time, this takeover is being drawn out for no good reason. its being drawn out as its a complicated case with many many concerns (including a court case this year from the premier league itself against SA) about who's getting involved and more importantly the planet is in the middle of a pandemic and the premier league is doing the equivalent of trying to herd cats by trying to get the twenty clubs to agree on some kind of plan to restart the league and also dealing with possible refund of tv money because of the shut down not to mention probable reductions in tv money in future deals. They have rather a lot on their plate atm and I'd imagine this takeover is rather low on the priority list
  4. The guardian seem to hate this takeover like. That's a few negative stories they've gone with now. I can't possible imagine any reason The Guardian might not be on board with Saudi Arabia buying a premier league club.....
  5. wonder how much the decision to end the season in Scotland is less to do with being unable to actually do it and more not wanting to risk anything for the nice new tv deal they have for next season
  6. f***ing hell, absolutely embarrassing. Yes Miguel’s made a right t#%t of himself embarrassing to say the least. Hopefully he gets demoted to tea boy. a journalist has an opinion (which has no affect on anything in reality) therefore he's an "embarrassment"? Everyone’s entitled to a opinion, however when you ram that same opinion relentlessly in people’s faces it over steps the mark. The bloke won’t even listen to a different opinion, he is right fact every time. I would suggest for a journalist you should at the very least be balanced. So in my opinion yes he is an idiot, but that’s not fact just my opinion. Good enough for you. theres an easy way to avoid his opinion and thats not to read it by not reading his paper or twitter feed which would be the correct reaction, what we have instead are a bunch of assholes trying to get him fired for expressing his concerns with the sportswashing SA are trying to pull and the general fact they're fucking evil.

  8. nobody knows or much cares who owns cruise liners music labels etc rightly or wrongly, those are being bought up just to make some money in the long term. NUFC though are being bought up for sportwashing theres the difference
  9. I'd love to know who is putting this bitch up to this as I firmly believe a few weeks ago she wouldnt have had a clue who or what Newcastle United were Her husband was murdered - grow up. fiance but the point stands, this lot are fucking evil
  10. though this will go over well I'm sure
  11. specifically the fa telling the prem that as I think as enforcing the fact there has to be relegation is one of the few powers they have left over the premier league
  12. obviously money is the reason but its not an unreasonable concern, most premier league clubs are still paying their players full wages and have no income at the moment. Even for premier league teams this isn't sustainable for long
  13. Fair point but knowing everyone on that pitch with you has tested negative must be fairly reassuring still. A lot more reassuring than a lot of workers who will be coming into contact with dozens of strangers on a daily basis. If they don't come back next month then I reckon that means it's finished for a long time. As the situation will be no different in September for example with no vaccine. The game would implode if it was away for a year or more it's just not sustainable. That's why it has to come back and it will in the next 4 weeks or so pretty much this, optimistically the earliest for any possible vaccine to clear all the needed tests is a year to 18 months (if one is even possible) and its in no way viable to suspend football until then even the likes of man utd and liverpool would go bust by then
  14. oh they'll be furious regardless and while I doubt the prem gives half a shit what Amnesty think they have a few hundred million reasons to value what Bein thinks
  15. depends, would be down to the clubs themselves (or 14 of them anyway) to approve any changes and they may be thinking well what if some rich dodgy state trys to buy us don't want to hinder the chances of that big payday In summary fuck modern football and bring in the german 50+1 rule
  16. why? the premier league lodged complaints against saudi arabia this year do you think they really want to suddenly let them in? If they have anything they think would hold up in a court of law to stop this deal they will because its really not worth to them the bad pr from being associated with one of the worst regimes on earth and the piracy shit not to mention they probably have a number of other clubs less than pleased with it anyway and ultimately the premier league is a members club and has to at least listen to their members
  17. who? The Qataris? They don’t give a flying f*** about either the fans or Mike Ashley. It doesn’t even factor into their calculations. n So what's their issue then to be sending shit like this in something that's none of their business the fact that someone in saudi arabia has been blatantly stealing their stuff and re transmitting it? And while no one here can say for certain the government was involved at some level they seemed to at least ignore its existence officially despite many protests against it including from the premier league itself. Throw in the fact SA has been leading a coalition of nations in the region currently (I think) having an economic war with Qatar and yeah I can see why they'd be irritated by this
  18. Will be interesting to see how it pans out, as I'm sure the same will apply for buying clubs ability to offer competitive wages. Will players want to move on in the same frequency as before if they know they will most likely get a worse deal than they are currently on? Some (older footballers in particular) would likely take a bit of a worse deal if its a longer deal than the one they are currently on. Its going to be fascinating and kinda horrible to watch teams lower down the pecking order (championship and lower in particular) having to flog probably everyone because they can't afford to pay them without gate revenue for the forseeable
  19. That's far too early imo. No they haven’t. I’d read it as another wait and see but who knows with this government. its kinda yes and no. Obviously pending things not going to shit in the interim (which can be said for literally everything atm), the exact line is:
  20. UK government giving the go ahead for sporting events behind closed doors from 1st of june
  21. Too much money at stake from the loss of the tv deal if they just give up and tbh the same problem will be there in september even if the season is scrapped now. Better to finish up this season as best they can and if they need to have a shorter season next year or something so be it
