wonder how much the decision to end the season in Scotland is less to do with being unable to actually do it and more not wanting to risk anything for the nice new tv deal they have for next season

f***ing hell, absolutely embarrassing. Yes Miguel’s made a right t#%t of himself embarrassing to say the least. Hopefully he gets demoted to tea boy. a journalist has an opinion (which has no affect on anything in reality) therefore he's an "embarrassment"? Everyone’s entitled to a opinion, however when you ram that same opinion relentlessly in people’s faces it over steps the mark. The bloke won’t even listen to a different opinion, he is right fact every time. I would suggest for a journalist you should at the very least be balanced. So in my opinion yes he is an idiot, but that’s not fact just my opinion. Good enough for you. theres an easy way to avoid his opinion and thats not to read it by not reading his paper or twitter feed which would be the correct reaction, what we have instead are a bunch of assholes trying to get him fired for expressing his concerns with the sportswashing SA are trying to pull and the general fact they're fucking evil.

nobody knows or much cares who owns cruise liners music labels etc rightly or wrongly, those are being bought up just to make some money in the long term. NUFC though are being bought up for sportwashing theres the difference

I'd love to know who is putting this bitch up to this as I firmly believe a few weeks ago she wouldnt have had a clue who or what Newcastle United were Her husband was murdered - grow up. fiance but the point stands, this lot are fucking evil
-
though this will go over well I'm sure
-
specifically the fa telling the prem that as I think as enforcing the fact there has to be relegation is one of the few powers they have left over the premier league
-
obviously money is the reason but its not an unreasonable concern, most premier league clubs are still paying their players full wages and have no income at the moment. Even for premier league teams this isn't sustainable for long
-
Fair point but knowing everyone on that pitch with you has tested negative must be fairly reassuring still. A lot more reassuring than a lot of workers who will be coming into contact with dozens of strangers on a daily basis. If they don't come back next month then I reckon that means it's finished for a long time. As the situation will be no different in September for example with no vaccine. The game would implode if it was away for a year or more it's just not sustainable. That's why it has to come back and it will in the next 4 weeks or so pretty much this, optimistically the earliest for any possible vaccine to clear all the needed tests is a year to 18 months (if one is even possible) and its in no way viable to suspend football until then even the likes of man utd and liverpool would go bust by then
-
oh they'll be furious regardless and while I doubt the prem gives half a shit what Amnesty think they have a few hundred million reasons to value what Bein thinks
-
depends, would be down to the clubs themselves (or 14 of them anyway) to approve any changes and they may be thinking well what if some rich dodgy state trys to buy us don't want to hinder the chances of that big payday In summary fuck modern football and bring in the german 50+1 rule

why? the premier league lodged complaints against saudi arabia this year do you think they really want to suddenly let them in? If they have anything they think would hold up in a court of law to stop this deal they will because its really not worth to them the bad pr from being associated with one of the worst regimes on earth and the piracy shit not to mention they probably have a number of other clubs less than pleased with it anyway and ultimately the premier league is a members club and has to at least listen to their members
-
who? The Qataris? They don’t give a flying f*** about either the fans or Mike Ashley. It doesn’t even factor into their calculations. n So what's their issue then to be sending shit like this in something that's none of their business the fact that someone in saudi arabia has been blatantly stealing their stuff and re transmitting it? And while no one here can say for certain the government was involved at some level they seemed to at least ignore its existence officially despite many protests against it including from the premier league itself. Throw in the fact SA has been leading a coalition of nations in the region currently (I think) having an economic war with Qatar and yeah I can see why they'd be irritated by this

Will be interesting to see how it pans out, as I'm sure the same will apply for buying clubs ability to offer competitive wages. Will players want to move on in the same frequency as before if they know they will most likely get a worse deal than they are currently on? Some (older footballers in particular) would likely take a bit of a worse deal if its a longer deal than the one they are currently on. Its going to be fascinating and kinda horrible to watch teams lower down the pecking order (championship and lower in particular) having to flog probably everyone because they can't afford to pay them without gate revenue for the forseeable
-
That's far too early imo. No they haven’t. I’d read it as another wait and see but who knows with this government. its kinda yes and no. Obviously pending things not going to shit in the interim (which can be said for literally everything atm), the exact line is:
-
UK government giving the go ahead for sporting events behind closed doors from 1st of june
-
Too much money at stake from the loss of the tv deal if they just give up and tbh the same problem will be there in september even if the season is scrapped now. Better to finish up this season as best they can and if they need to have a shorter season next year or something so be it

I can somewhat forgive the Dalglish appointment, on paper it made sense at the time, didn't work but he was hindered by Shearers injury and Ferdiands sale and he did buy Given and Speed. Souness though good lord. The Dalglish and Gullitt appointments were genuine mistakes, both were highly rated managers who just turned out to be poor in retrospect. Dalglish's second spell at Liverpool perhaps exposed him to closer scrutiny on Merseyside then he'd previously had. I think before that they saw him through rose tinted glasses somewhat. tbh it would be hard for them not to have rose tinted glasses since he was one of their greatest ever players and last manager to win a league for them. Wouldn't be much different for us if Keegan came back again as manager tomorrow

Cheers. I maybe overstated the impact it would have on GR's stats but as expected, Souness sinks like a stone when you take out walloping European cack. Speaks volumes of the depressing effect Ashley's ownership has had on the clubs performance. Winning 1 in three is overachievement and that's before you consider the fact we've not troubled the cups either. tbh it goes beyond even Ashley we've just been diabolically run for decades both in managerial appointments and just how the club has been run which in general has been purely for the benefit of the owner or chairman not the club

1 Sir Bobby 2 Keegan I 3 Rafa 4 Hughton 5 Roeder 6 Keegan II 7 Bruce 8 Pardew 9 Dalglish 10 Gullit 11 Allerdyce 12 McClaren 13 Carver 14 Kinnear 15 Souness I have Souness as the worst as the rot started with him, Ashley etc exacerbated it but the root cause was the decision to appoint Souness which took NUFC from competing around the european places to lower-midtable and it only got worse from there (8m for fucking Boumsong). On a brighter front I have Sir Bob marginally ahead of Keegan as I don't think he had the comparative resources KK had in his first time but really its a toss up between them.

Theres that argument but he also basically held the club together in a rather difficult period post relegation with the owner AWOL squad being picked apart and the banana kit. It would have been very easy with a different character for team spirit to collapse and we could be stuck in the championship to this day possibly. Instead he got a good team spirit going and steadily improved the team over the championship season and got us up with flying colours all in all not bad for a first proper go at being a manager.

bit unlucky with Rooneys injury in 04 as well considering how well he was playing, could have gone very different then if he didn't get injured
