Because its the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia responsible for investing on behalf of the government of Saudi Arabia and its Chairman is the Crown Prince? A reminder that SA is an absolute monarchy with no representative legislature
-
He's not winding me up, it's simply an example of someone who has a high profile platform to spout a load of rubbish when it comes to Newcastle. The fact that the Premier League already has Saudi owners who were allowed in without any hint of a fuss is another example. once again to make it clear private saudi owner (who yes is a member of the royal family but theres a lot of them) is not the state of saudi arabia which whats buying nufc through their public investment fund thats the difference and why theres not a fuss about Sheffield Uniteds owner.
-
and the fact guess what theres no football on to report on so any football related news will get a lot more attention right now
-
Can't even get anyone to give a fuck about the direct role of Saudi Arabia in 9/11 or the murder of journalists man, why would this be different? because it affects the premier leagues money
-
and above all else why the fuck is a country allowed to own a football club
-
I actually find it rather depressing that such a fair percentage are so willing to deflect divert and distract already and it hasn't even gone through yet. If you want to just ignore the politics and try and enjoy the football I can respect that line of thinking but going after amnesty international and trying to claim journalists are just worried their club (insert whatever top 6 club you feel like) will lose a spot to NUFC so this must be stopped is such a ridiculous line of thinking. At the moment I'm just trying to say its a combination of lockdown boredom and general social media stupidity bringing out the loudest stupidest voices but god damn

Politics. They are a Qatar broadcaster. Qatar and Saudi are pretty much at war, at least diplomatically. This is all part of that. while this is true it is also true someone in Saudi is 100% just stealing and rebroadcasting Beins stuff which is also probably part of the whole political mess ongoing but whether there is anyone part of the royal family or government involved in beoutq but its a reasonable concern for Bein to raise as they are paying a lot of money for these tv rights and it is being blatantly stolen.
-
worth noting sky and the bbc have complained about beoutq before as well https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/oct/31/bbc-sky-eu-european-commission-saudi-pirate-tv-service-beoutq
-
pretty sure that would be a breach of contract and cost them way more in court. However instead of maybe extending a bit of time for this season to get finished Bein start asking where is the premier league games we paid for under this contract then things could get awkward
-
well the other clubs have an equal say in the rules being made so writing to them isn't a bad idea, not sure theres anything technically atm that could stop it but as could be expected if theres anything that could get the prem to reject a deal its a threat to tv money via piracy.
-
as said they were in league one and most importantly weren't taken over by the literal saudi state but a private individual who happens to be a member of the royal family (theres 15,000 of them).
-
theres only one other state owned club in the premier league which as demonstrated they have kicked off about. Everybody else may include some distasteful people but I don't recall Abramovich or the Glazers bombing Yemen.
-
because it seems to be actually happening instead of a rumor

We aren't painting ourselves as victims as a fanbase. You will get some who will whinge about the media, but I would imagine there are plenty like me who think it will be nice to compete for stuff as a football club again. There's no victimhood in that. You've got Rafa as your avatar there, do you think he should refuse to come back because of the Saudi link? That is a totally reasonable point of view to take but believe me there are a LOT of our fans who have immediately gone to bat for the Saudis, many convinced that it's all an anti-NUFC conspiracy. The position being taken by some of our fans is actually the thing I'm struggling most with, not on here I should add, I think there's more sense here than on Twitter. I should stop reading it tbf. I have infinitely more respect for "I don't care, I don't want to think about politics, I just want to support my team" than "You just hate NUFC and anyway, you can't complain about Saudi bombings because you enjoyed the smell of petrol once when walking past Esso".

says here Atsu https://www.premierleague.com/epl-invitational

its always been the case with all football fans that they think the press is out to get us and they're all man utd/liverpool fans (delete as appropriate)
-
In fairness to Keys (yeah, I know) he just seems to have beef with Saudi Arabia full stop, mainly as he accuses them of stealing and showing BeIN sports streams. which someone is 100% doing in SA whether they have any links to the government
-
It's basically all financial criteria I think. Have they ever been bankrupt, have they got any fraud convictions etc? Thank you theres one bit thats interesting reading the premier league handbook rules on the test to quote now as far as I understand from reading the rules laid out there it requires a conviction in court for this to come into play but given the issues Bien Sports has with their channels just being stolen and rebroadcast from within Saudi Arabia it could cause some interesting questions from the premier league
-
I think it was in reference to some quotes attributed to him saying that the lads were enjoying training more under the new “gaffer” why would this suprise anyone? Rafa's never exactly been loved by players respected sure but I'd imagine Bruce's training sessions are a lot more enjoyable than Rafa's. As good for the team probably not
-
the shelvey hate also seems odd to me, he's not perfect but hes been a solid enough player for us
-
sad thing is it really doesnt matter who's in the government of whatever country in the uks case torys or labour they still treat the likes of SA the same because they're useful with the oil.
-
look here it is plain and simple; thus far anywhere on this forum I've seen no one saying fans shouldn't be positive and enjoy any success its just been people expressing their own personal concerns and feelings about this matter. If your over the moon and couldn't care less about what SA has done good for you but not everyone is going to share this point of view and there is nothing wrong with expressing this opinion. Bringing the USA or anything else is irrelevant to the arguement because the USA is not buying a football club Saudi Arabia is and its our one. And anyone thinking the media wouldn't be saying this if they were buying Man Utd is wrong they would probably more than here with Man Utd as one of the biggest two clubs historically in English football. Certainly some of the media would cheerfully ignore it and just write transfer stories linking them with messi whatever but guess what they'll do the exact same for us until football returns to fill pages and get clicks and it will all be complete horse shit.
