Not a chance. That level of money suggests someone you'd build your team around, someone who will lead the way to success. Cazorla, Wilshere, maybe Vermaelen are players Arsenal should build their team around. Not Walcott. Not to say he can't be a very dangerous player, nor that he isn't going to score you goals, but I think he's the archetypal "will play well against poorer opposition" player. Just don't think he's cut out to make his mark regularly against top teams, which is what you'd expect of someone on that sort of wage. Dunno if that's a clichéd observation but that's what has always struck me about him. In that sense it's a big risk giving him that much money as it implies Wenger thinks he will develop into that player. I can't see it, but we'll see. Vermaelen is definitely not worth that amount of money. He's still error prone, liable to lapses in concentration and his on the pitch decision making isn't that great. He shouldn't even be starting for them tbh, Koscielny and Mertesacker are superior defenders. Arsenal fans love Vermaelen though, because of his forward surges and the fact he scores loads for a CB. doesn't make him a good defender though, one of my biggest annoyances in recent times was the british media working out he was a good defender when arrived because he had scored a fair few goals

Lee Ryder @lee_ryder Told #nufc have no intention of signing Darren Bent despite the talk . Sure most Toon fans will have worked that one out anyway. Lee Ryder @lee_ryder To clear up the Davide Santon reports, there has been no "formal bid" for the player from any club #nufc Right so expect Bent to sign on a 12 year deal tomorrow and Santon sold before the game

anyway wouldn't be surprised to see a massive drop in Walcotts form (not that I think its been overly impressive this season-scoring 3 vs us doesn't count) since he's no longer playing for a new contract and looses that motivational factor which can be huge for anyone (see Mark Viduka)

apparently that makes them (in Wengers words)a "socialist club" rather than just bloody stupid

Well, one word, as per your post... If I never hear that word/words in a transfer window again, it will be too soon. Not sure where to put this, but the rumour is that we're loosely interested in M'Vila after the Sandro injury...but QPR have supposedly offered 80Kpw. Hhmm, A Spurs board? Would be Giggsed to high heaven. Naah, I thought you guys were interested, that's the only reason I put it on here. Not all that fussed tbh, if QPR are willing to throw money at him then whatever. I'm more worried when we lose out to Chelsea or Liverpool. If Spurs came in for him and he chose QPR instead he ought to have his head examined

Nigel Adkins sacked. Mauricio Pochettino appointed new Southampton manager
jdckelly replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
yup, both strange and after positive results (Pards sacked 2 days after 4-0 win) and Pards said he didn't see eye to eye with the chairman -

the comparison to Hughton sacked is appropriate but this is a good deal worse, our form was at least going downhill and had lost fairly abjectly to WBA, they however are on a good run of form and just came back from 2 down away to Chelsea -

If it was on loan until the summer I'd be happy enough just in case Cisse breaks and we don't have to live with Shola...Still I don't believe it. I'd agree with that but Ashley and co don't like loans and can't see them sanctioning the cost of Bent on a permanent Our attitude to loans is mental. Since Pardew took over we have not had one loan player (Ireland aside, after Carroll left). We could have loaned Rose and no doubt many others, but to just shut that route off is deranged. It could lead to a good player signing, like Ben Arfa did. I understand their theory behind it in they don't want to just fatten up one of the big boys younger players but there are probably a few fringe players at big clubs through europe who could help us atm on loan.

rich owners as I recall, throw in the no tax and it makes them more attractive than all but one of the french clubs

Totally worth it should they stay up. 3-4 key signings like this and they've got a great chance. Some of their other big signings are starting to play as well: on the up. whereas should they go down its (between wages and transfer fees) if they sign M'Villa bound to be near £20m down the drain with little to nothing reclaimable because of the low release clause on relegation or they just go for free

No idea about the Norwich comments? Doesnt explain why there no mention of any problems mind. Argie media said newcastle fans were booing colo and provided a hitler downfall parody as proof we hate him http://www.clarin.com/deportes/Fuertes-criticas-Coloccini-hinchas-Newcastle_0_847715328.html

What do you base that on? Is it because everyone who has ever worked for Barcelona is a saint and would never do anything for money, only for the love of the beautiful game? agree with Ian W here, I just can't see Pep putting up with Abramovich's interference and he won't stop even if he gets Pep.
