Surely Solskjaer and Lampard being average at best will stop this trend in the PL? never stopped it before
-
Weird timing to do it now and not earlier this week but hardly unexpected with their track record
-
he was a very one dimensional player at his best with his pace, what I'd really like to know is did he try to adapt his game at all post injury because iirc it certainly didn't look like it and it was one of Shearers greatest achievements that he was able to adapt his game after age and injuries took their toll and keep himself as a very good striker almost to the end.

the best thing we can all do about owen is try to forget he ever existed. Also on a side point who the fuck would want to buy his autobiography? The fans of every club he played for either dislike/hate him or forgot he ever played for them
-
on the one hand I agree but on the other surely its better than letting a club go extinct for the idiocy of a few bad owners and utter neglect of the EFL
-
why the fuck did they write that?
-
I didn't think it was possible but this might be the worst implementation of VAR yet, the "high bar" for intervention (except for someones armpit hair being offside) makes it both pointless and makes the var ref look even stupider for not intervening in blatantly obvious incidents what the fuck is it for if the reffing situation is somehow worse than last season

the premier leagues mere existance is playing a part in teams spending beyond their means in hopes of getting promotion and getting their hands on the tv cash and justifying that risk. championship overall wage to revenue percentage in 17/18 was 115% with individual clubs having up to 200% of revenue being spent on wages http://financialfootballnews.com/championship-2018-finances-wages/ then you throw in the parachute payments distorting the competition and the changes to academy rules on cachement area meaning premier league academies hoover up all the most talented youngsters so even the chance of selling off a talented young player for big cash is reduced. So all in all I do hope for a massive crash in the tv money to watch the premier league suffer
-
a lovely idea but in no way possible why in gods name would the likes of the glazers, the city owners or frankly any premier league or championship club owner ever agree to that, they ain't in it for the good of the game they're in it to profit from the premier league tv deal or soften the image of a country and they couldn't care less about the fans beyond their roles as customers

The entire EFL board should be resigning in disgrace over this, letting a complete conman take over without any checks on him and they wonder what went wrong
-
I just think he's not worth the hassle let alone for €170m and a truck full of cash a month, he's a great player when he feels like it but a pain in the ass the rest of the time and to see barca bending over backwards to bring back a guy who walked out on them and someone they don't even need is a bit pathetic
-
it ends with Griezmann on the bench because messi said so
-
probably and apparently messi wants him back too. God only knows how they can afford it since they bought Griezmann for over €100m as well
-
entire EFL board should resign in shame over letting it get this far for Bury and Bolton.

How about implementing a proper fit and proper persons test? How about instead of postponing games which would gain clubs like Bolton and Bury income, they let them play those games? How about as part of FFP, if your club is showing sings of financial difficulty then an administrator by the league is ordered to take control of the football club until the club is a better situation? How about there is a better trickle down of money to other clubs? How about instead of just sitting on the sidelines when their members go to the wall, they actually do something to prevent it. Both the FA and EFL have stood and watched what has happened at Bolton and Bury and let it happen. The EFL have actively taken action that would hinder both clubs from being rescued. How would that work though? On paper, Mike Ashley would have probably passed easily back in 2007. Mike Ashley would pass today. If you look at it, the club is in nominally the same position that it was when arrived. 13th in the league in 2007. 13th in the league in 2019. Likely in a better financial position with the amount of funds clubs now receive for making up the numbers in the Premier League. The harm in his ownership has been the details of how he runs the club day to day, year on year. It is hard to account for that in any meaningful way with a test before someone owns the club. If the person has liquid funds to show and is relatively free of corruption/criminal offenses, nothing will stop them really. your never going to stop bad owners existing or bad decisions being made but you'd hope they could stop the chancers like that fella who's been holding Bury hostage getting involved.

incredible workrate from the players
-
its edited yes but the commentator does his stuff live not later
-
this Steve Dales fellas a real piece of work, how the fuck he was deemed "fit and proper" to take over any football club is ridiculous and the EFL should fucking hang their heads in shame that its gotten this bad at Bury https://talksport.com/football/efl/591362/bury-owner-steve-dale-fans-pledge-efl-expulsion/
-
think he's physically done, had plenty of years where he basically had no time off playing world cup, confederations cup copa americas etc.
-
the fundamental problem I have with it boils down to does it make football more enjoyable to watch, thus far the definitive answer for myself has been hell fucking no
-
the handball law was changed because of VAR so yes it is VAR thats causing this shit.
-
god I hate the lateness of offside flags like that
-
Liverpools defence is looking a bit ropey so far this season
-
huh removed the seeding from the first two rounds last year. Honestly did not notice https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44415928
