Really appreciate the songs the corner try to generate. Even something as basic as “Howay the Lads” ad infinitum seems unknown to many. I was actually surprised how many knew to clap along to the precursor of “get into them and fuck them up” the other week. Unfortunately it seems the vast majority only know 5-6 songs these days.

One thing I am getting frustrated by is our total lack of threat from corners. Perhaps even more bizarre in that we have Trippier taking them. We never ever look like scoring from them, despite having one of tallest teams in the league.

I think this again shows that N-O is and always will be an incredibly small representation of Newcastle fans, and the majority(?) view on here is very very different to the ‘outside world’. Ironically, Heron (incredibly easily may I add) managed to wind up the very same people that would quite happily label anyone in the politics thread a ‘Gammon’ that gets riled up on Twitter over whatever the talking point of the day is. The common factor tends to be anyone with a differing view to them. This is the overriding problem in all politics these days, in that nobody can debate, agree to disagree and take a different stance. Everything has to be polarised. It’s been shown again in this thread the last few days. I’m on the left and always will be, but the sneering and piss taking by many on the left towards anything ‘British’ only adds fuel to fire for a majority to continue voting Tory to uphold traditions (I digress, perhaps for another thread!). From what I’ve read on Twitter and Facebook, the majority of fans probably did want some form of display, again proving that N-O, as a whole, can have a miopic view of things. WF have spent hours debating amongst themselves in a democratic fashion in order to sit on the fence. Fair play to them and by 3pm it will all be forgotten about. As much as I wanted some form of showing, and I’d have been SO interested to see what Wor Flags could have cooked up (and I’m sure it would have been a Belter) - I can also understand why they’ve decided not to do it and I’ll back the decision too. I think my point is, after quite the ramble, is remember that not everyone has the same views as you; N-O, at times, can be an echo chamber and Wor Flags are class. HTL ??

The issue with picking someone like Haaland is everyone does it 80% have selected him in their team compared to 7% with Isaak. Seems a good way to get some much needed gains on others.

Isaak or Halland captain. That is my big decision this week after wildcarding 9 of my squad. Basically got rid of everyone not playing this week due to postponements. Hopefully pays off

Used the heads up in here to use my wildcard. Made 8 changes. Hopefully pays off. I imagine plenty of people will forget that games have been postponed and/or have already used their wildcard and lose points to make subs. I’ve gone rather Newcastle heavy with us being at home to Bournemouth.

If people really want to overthink and potentially be offended by flying a flag of a 1955 cup win, then we need to overthink and potentially be offended of everything the city of Newcastle, represents imo.

Rugby getting it right… Rugby Union to go ahead this weekend GAME UPDATE: The official guidance we have received from Government is that there can be respectful continuation of sport at all levels this weekend. The overwhelming opinions shared so far within the game, are that teams and supporters want to come together to honour Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to be united in our grief as we express sorrow at her passing. Rugby, at its heart, is about community and bringing people together, in good times and in sad. Rugby clubs are a source of strength and support during times of uncertainty, and we hope that by enabling games and other rugby activity to go ahead this weekend, with families and friends congregating it will help us all to unite at this time of national mourning. We strongly encourage all those playing sport this weekend to respectfully pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen by holding a minute’s silence ahead of all fixtures this weekend. This an opportunity for teams from different areas to join together in honouring and celebrating her life. For clubs who have outdoor screens or for clubhouse televisions, graphics will be available to display via englandrugby.com/resources later today. Postponements While for many in the game, matches this weekend will be an opportunity to come together and celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II, there may be some clubs who will find it more appropriate to postpone their fixture, such as those with closer connections to the Royal Family or those with large numbers of players in the military or emergency services who may be called away to work on official duties as a result. It’s a great model, and when we win something it’ll feel all the better for it. Chelsea won the league within 2 seasons of Abramovich and City won the league within 4 years (and the FA Cup in 3 years). It will take us considerably longer than that - but the ride is going to be amazing.
