  1. Some very strange decisions going in there tonight. Keeps the title race going to the last game though which is what the Premier League want after all.
  2. I meant in an all-round way, Cole was the better finisher. Actually Cole was underrated, watch the clips from his time here. We best Barnsley 6-0 I think in the pro, option season and he was world-class and we played the best football I’ve ever seen us play that game. John Beresford scored his 1st goal for us that night iirc. Think it was a penalty. Agree some of the football we played was unbelievable.
  3. Get in there Joey lad! Fancy losing to Fleetwood Town in a league game man
  4. be surprised if he starts over Ki, wrong type of game for shelvey Shelvey was absolutely outstanding against these at home last season.
  5. Really looking forward to this. Atmosphere should be electric with most people having been on the piss all day and there's always something nice about playing under no pressure at all whilst the opposition have it all to deal with. 1-1 same as last year.
  6. I never take all that much interest in the financial side of football but does this mean the club debt has now reduced by £33m or has it remained the same because in the past when he's taken money out of the club the debt seems to have either remained stable or even increased? Either way we're being bled dry and there's nowt we can do about it.
  7. Clicked on page 1 of this thread by mistake and it goes back to 2011. Mike Dean getting it right in the neck. 8 years and 100 odd pages later and nothing's changed. Not fit to referee.
  8. It's amazing how they rewrite history about their sewpa hard fans, as I went to a few games at Roker in the 80's/early 90's when football hooliganism was in it's pomp, and our lot wandered around with impunity and absolutely took the piss....they were literally nowhere to be seen. Sunderland was a stroll in the park compared to most grounds back then (especially Boro) but reading their threads on RTG, and it's about how they smashed everybody and anybody there. We were there in the 92/93 season (Liam O'Brien over the wall) and we basically took over the place and there was nothing they could do about it. Not only did we have the entire Roker End but they also moved their own fans out of the Clock Stand Paddocks and handed that over to us as well. I remember we parked up about a mile from the ground and it was NUFC everywhere, in fact we barely seen a mackem until we got inside. It was just one big pisstake and something they've never been able to do up here. Officially we had 7k there I think but in reality it was a whole lot more than that. Boro on the other hand was very dodgy. Only went to Ayresome Park once (beat them 3-1 in the league cup) and that was a pretty intimidating experience. Even the first few years at their new ground you had to have your wits about you.
  9. Going to this. 2nd game of the season for me after Man City in January! Don't really want to if truth be told but the bairn is now at an age where his mates from school are starting to go to the match with their dads and there's a lot of them going on Saturday and he's been on at me to take him so I've relented and bought a couple of tickets. No doubt we'll be meeting up with them all beforehand. 1-1 draw I reckon.
  10. I've had to mute this. Cant stand this biased commentary any longer. Surely the commenters should at the very least be impartial.
  11. They are desperate to feel important, they want to be a big fish but know they really aren't, they want everyone to love them but no fuckers do, they want to be seen as passionate and the loyalist fans around but they are no different to any other. In truth they are irrelevant to everyone bar themselves and slag any other fans off that dare question it.Little clubs fa cup final I'd be embarrassed to win it. The prerequisite to be in it is that you need to be a 3rd or 4th division team so for that reason I'd be mortified if we ever won it, let alone embarrassed.
  12. Even the 3 neutrals on Goals on Sunday (one of them Darren Bent) said NUFC were hard done by on Saturday. Hard done by, probably, but not to the level that people are going on about it on here. Just read some of the posts following yours. We were hard done by no doubt about it. The pen that they got you rarely see given this season, by the same token we could have had 2 pens but they would both have been softish as well imo. Also they should have had a player sent off if the referee really wanted to enforce the letter of the law. The blatant back pass was another bad decision. All fairly marginal which can go either way (except the back pass which was obvious) but every single one of them went against us. Anyway it's done now and we ended up coming away with another crucial point.

  14. The arrogance from a team in the 3rd Division is truely astounding. It's the very thing they always accuse us of as well. A huge lack of self awareness from them.
  15. It's so exciting being them at the moment they've had to close down parts of their ground to cope with all the extra demand.
  16. £20 seems a lot for League One Gateshead charge £15 in the Conference and they're one of the cheapest in that league. There's league 2 teams charging more than £20 these days.
  17. Legendary goalkeeper and by all accounts a very decent person. RIP to a legend.
  18. Weak goalkeeping and made the wrong decision to try and catch it although I understand why he'd do that as that would have been the last action of the game. I still don't say that's a foul but others will. It's one of those that can go either way and unfortunately for us it's gone against us. The foul on Almiron in the corner just before the goal looked far more obvious.
  19. Agree with this. He looked assured bar the odd time he came for it and then backtracked. Handling was really good. Then that in the 95th minute. He’s trying to relieve the pressure. They were getting a flurry of corners and crosses in, he’d been taking everything. If he’s not fouled he’s catches it, falls on top of the ball, launches it and it’s game over. Wasn't a foul though. Should have been though. If we're 1-0 down in the 95th minute and that happens down the other end of the pitch with Rondon and the goal gets disallowed everyone would be up in arms and saying it's a perfectly legitimate goal, which it was. If that happens down the other end, the foul WOULD be given. I don't think so. There's not a foul there to give. He gets up earlier than Dubravka and the Keeper makes a poor decision to try to catch it under pressure and is beaten to the ball. He's beaten to the ball because it goes through his hands due to Boly hitting his right arm and then leaving it on his face. Nah. He just needs to put his fists behind it and we don't need to have this conversation. He was slow getting up, the Wolves player had the run on him (and therefore could get up higher) and put it away. You would be raging if we had a goal disallowed for that and you know it.
