If they went tits up end even half of those fans followed other teams in the area, NE football in general would be far stronger because lots of teams further down the ladder in our area get pitiful support (South Shields the exception). 300 odd at Gateshead the other night is terrible for a club at their level. Ticket prices need to come down and going to Gateshead to watch them isn’t exactly a welcoming environment, s*** stadium, s*** atmosphere etc. They need a new ground badly. They let Newcastle (and Sunderland I think) season ticket holders in for a tenner and I think their standard ticket prices for adults is around £15 which is on the cheaper side of average for that league but watching a match at an athletics stadium doesn't appeal to me or most others by the looks of it. I'd rather watch a Northern League game and stand pitchside.

Mental isn't it. Mourinho, Klopp, Wenger (Fergie used to as well) always mention the crowd up here and how good the atmosphere is and how supportive the Newcastle fans are but come on this forum and you'd think the place was a library!

Christ, I don't know what matches they've been to, but it's been dire for years. Just shows how bad the rest of the PL grounds are then.

Baffling that Atsu is producing poor performances whereas Murphy was really coming into some form yet it's Atsu getting most of the game time. Murphy is clearly a confidence player and I'm not sure what leaving him out after he's been playing well is going to achieve.

The reason they are in a mess is because of Ellis Short, Ellis Short is writing out cheques on a monthly basis to keep them afloat. They were in a mess before he bought them. Niall Quinn and his consortium had already started running them.into the ground trying to keep them in the Premier League, and before him Bob Murray ended up selling them for a quid just to get rid of them as he couldn't afford to cover the losses they make.

Do clubs ever release actual attendance? Surely they must review how many sold tickets were actually redeemed/scanned on the day? Sunderland don't even say how many tickets are sold. They simply make up a number now, usually 27000 and something. They only had 17,000 v Bolton but added 9000 onto the crowd. They regularly take less than £50,000 on the gate for home games (after season ticket holders and away fans are factored in) which doesn't even cover Jack Rodwells wage.

It should never, ever be Manquillo. That's for sure.

Surely he'll not be playing! Dummett had another good game on Wenesday so hopefully we won't be seeing much of Manquillo from here on in.

Officially it is but you could cancel any time really and there's nothing they can do about it. Obviously it's preferable to cancel before your 1st payment for next season comes out though!

For whatever reason he's ended up at West Brom ahead of us. Tammy Abraham chose Swansea ahead of us in the summer so losing out to so called smaller PL teams for strikers isn't something we should be surprised about.
