Tbh I thought it looked a nailed on draw until the sending off and Forest are an absolutely awful team, make no mistake they are shocking. The one bright spot was Diame looked superb in the centre of midfield but the negative to that is that Perez would need to play behind Gayle if Diame was to play there in Shelveys absence, and Perez shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line up.
-
Really need a big performance from him tonight. I'd try him on the other side and bring Atsu in.
-
If there's any more than 4 of the current first XI in the starting line up next season (assuming that'll be in the PL) then we're in for another relegation battle.
-
Good to hear. Would have been our most underwhelming signing since Daryl Murphy.

Did you just make that up? Not the most reliable source but I didn't make it up. http://www.themag.co.uk/2016/12/exclusive-reports-henri-lansbury-given-permission-talk-newcastle-january-transfer-newcastle-united-watford-nottingham-forest/ He's not very good and he's a total c*nt as well. Can't see it 6 goals, 3 assists in 17 apps. If goals are valued over assists, he's got better stats than anyone in our current CM positions (Shelvey has the opposite, 3 goals 6 assists in 21 apps) I'd be aiming higher than Henri Lansbury if we're looking for players to push us on once we're in the PL like.

Depends how we lose tbh. Don't remember any criticism of the players when they beat us down there but if we serve up something similar to Monday night and lose there'll be hell on -

Don't think anyone applauded around me in the Gallowgate on Boxing Day. In fact I totally forgot all about it. Hopefully that's it just about done. RIP to the 2 lads (plus the other passengers) of course. -
1 year ago today. RIP Pav.

That's the team I'd love to see as well. Don't think Forest could cope with that. -
And they are. Don't think anyone would be happy if we're not promoted. And it'd be disappointing if we don't go up as Champions. People being accused of sticking their heads in the sand because they haven't thrown their toys out the pram though. Personally I think our team is a bit overrated and the main reason we're in the top 2, and not fighting out with the rest of the pack, is because of Rafa. Like any manager though you take the good with the bad, and Rafa has his bad points no doubt, but he's by a distance the most distinguished manager we've ever had and it's pretty disheartening to see people jumping on his back every time he falters. In isolation the 6 defeats are bad but that's ignoring the pretty incredible runs of form we've been on around them. To the point Brighton are only 2 points ahead of us having the season of their lives. That's just the thing. I haven't seen anyone jumping on his back/shouting for his head etc. The criticism I've read has been pretty balanced and fair. The home form is a concern as is our response when we go a goal down. People saying he maybe could be a bit braver at home may well have a valid point as well. If fans aren't allowed to voice an opinion they may as well close messageboards like this down.
-
Don't think anyone could have any arguments with that.
-
Course he has. We'll go up no problem but anyone who sat through that in the freezing cold the other night is well within their rights to question the latest in several awful home performances. I love Rafa, and as has been said, he owes us nothing after staying on when he could easily have walked away but I just wish he would be a little braver at home.
-
It's quite astonishing how much Ashley has basically trodden on the fans and totally destroyed any expectation or ambition. Fans are right to criticise what was the latest of 4 absolutely abysmal home defeats before December is even out yet others say they aren't entitled to voice an opinion because we used to be managed by Joe Kinnear, Alan Pardew and John Carver. We're Newcastle United, one of the biggest clubs in the Country. Our expectations should be higher than meek home defeats to the likes of Sheff Wed, Blackburn Rovers, Wolves and Huddersfield Town. It's an awful league, the standard is atrocious. Thankfully we can afford plenty more poor displays in the 2nd half of the season and still win promotion comfortably, which we will.

He can't as he's having to help Anita out defensively. The amount of times the Sheff Wed left winger got behind Anita last night was ridiculous. Last night reminded me a lot of when Ryan Taylor played as a stand in left back and Gutierrez used to have to help him out far more than should be reasonably expected. It's about game plan, play a proper RB who can get forward and the issues you have mentioned would be Sheffield Weds and not ours. Therefore Ritchie would be free-er... Totally agree with you. I think Ritchie plays much better when he's got Yedlin behind him. I think Rafa will play Yedlin v Forest and move Anita into midfield in place of Colback.

Needs to react quicker to what's going on. After 20 minutes it was clear for all to see it was going to be another Wolves/Blackburn type of performance and he waited far too long to change things around. Atsu and Mitrovic should have been on far earlier and Perez for Diame was a waste of a sub.
-
Poor yesterday. I'm really not a fan of Anita at CM but maybe play him.alongside Hayden on Friday which will allow Yedlin to come back in at right back hopefully helping out Ritchie.
-
Brighton seem to get a ridiculous amount of penalties and their opponents often seem to finish with 10 men mind. Just an observation.
-
He's not that quick so benefits more by having Yedlin behind him who can bomb past him.

Newcastle United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday - 26/12/16 - Match Thread

We're developing a worrying trend that was one of Pardews legacies. Go a goal down and it's as good as game over because we haven't got a clue whow to respond. -
He'll sort it. Games like tonight will give him more insight into the players and show him who is and whom isn't good enough to play for Newcastle United going forward hopefully into the Premier League. A lot of these aren't good enough to take the next step and in our heart of hearts we know this already.
-
He's certainly playing like a player who doesn't want to be here. The lack of effort is there for all to see. .
